I’ve been wanting to sample some cotton, so this is timely.

Great video Tobias! I need to add a cotton sampler to my collection. Thanks for sharing!

The Cotton Sampler is growing on me to the point I ordered one a couple of months ago. The blade makes me think of it as a folding skinner blade. I’m gonna have to order a few more different style. Thank you for sharing this and opening my mind to something new.

It really is just a big fat scalpel blade. Thanks for watching.

I have been enjoying the different Fox series knives that Rough Ryder has been making. I have never had a cotton sampler I may have to check one out. Thanks for showing all of these beautiful knives.

I first bought a cotton sampler because it just looked funky. But the thing is, it’s a good slicer. Truly a big old scalpel blade.

Great discussion. I agree, I like the small cotton sampler's the best and the tobacco smooth bone is the one I want. I never thought about them being like a scalpel. Man I could have neutered my Daughters cat my self if i had one of these knives and saved her lots of money on the vet bill :). Another great Video Tobias. Thank you.

I had an antique cotton sampler that I had found in an antique piece of furniture at my grandmother's house when I was young. I had no idea what in the world it was and believed it to be just an old pruning knife and NOW I CANT FIND IT!...So very sad to let treasures slip through our fingers when we are young!..I recently picked up one of the RR bone stag cotton samplers to ease some of the pain of misplacing the original. The craftsmanship on the RR is amazing!...I was very impressed!.Have a great rest of the week yall!

Rough Ryder are a nice, inexpensive consolation for your loss. But still, I hope some day you find the one you lost!

@KnifeChatswithTobias thank you so much Tobias!

The small one could be the "cotton ball" or "cotton swab" sampler? Either way, the full size makes a dandy campfire steak knife!

I have “the fang,” and like it. Handy lil guy. Hadn’t noticed the difference in swedges. I like the small cotton sampler - compared to it, the big one just feels ungainly. Sure wish RR would make more small ones. Got the tobacco bone version from CKW. The other small ones are hard to find, except for the daisy acrylic (ew).

All of the Fox series from RR seem to be good quality. At least the ones i have picked up so far. Mostly the Red Fox line.

Back to the video after a side bar to find out how they were used. The blade configuration makes sense.

It's pretty cool and funky design.

Nice blades on those Cotton Samplers. It is a different configuration and stronger, at least the one RR I have one (1992) in green micarta. I carried it a few times but thought at over 4" and a big belly it was a bit large in the pocket. Maybe the smaller one would be a better fit for me. Very cool blades Tobias, love the cotton sampler series you're working on now.

Very nice Tobias! I like the red and desert fox series but this one is nice too.

I really like the RR cotton sampler knives. I’ve that little tobacco bone one and 3 or four of the large ones, including the stag bone I like the big handles and appreciate the smaller blade given our nanny state year in the UK.

Agreed. I'm happy that Rough Ryder has started making them. I have never even seen an original, let alone a GEC copy! Only pictures!

@KnifeChatswithTobias That's one of the great things about RR, I've heard you mention before. They provide patterns no one else does.
