Thanks so much Brady, for showing what Blackmagic cameras can do. For so long, I've heard the argument that BM cameras can't be used on full high end productions. The fact that this camera costs what it does and that it's the same sensor as the Cinema 6K FF and that it really shows how all the BM camera lines from the Pockets to the Ursas can be used on high end productions is amazing. Thank you and keep up the stellar work!

@@BradyBessette I guess that’s where we disagree then. We may just have a difference of opinions then. Can the cameras cut together absolutely. When I push blackmagic image to its peak performance I’m impressed it looks good and obviously I can make an Alexa match that great image but when doing the opposite it’s hard to make black magic look like an Alexa performing at its peak. I respect you and the video though. No hate I’m a fan.
@BradyBessette11 күн бұрын
All fair thoughts and I appreciate your approach on this! No hate here. It’s a tough line to balance “business” side of getting a well performing video , and all that jazz. All to say, appreciate you!

@@AdioAshyou are right about the Alexa, hence the price of it. But I honestly think that if you were to see a movie in cinema shot on the Pyxis by a Hollywood DP, I bet you won’t be able to tell the difference. It’s all about the man behind the camera. And lately most cameras are capable to deliver stunning images, that line between Alexa and prosumer cameras it’s starting to fade quick. I bet that the Ursa Cine 12K can beat the Alexa in few areas.

We're actually shooting our pilot movie on the Pyxis (pairing them with Atlas anamorphics). We were going to go with a Red Komodo, but the Pyxis won me over due to the full frame sensor and color science. The lesser dynamic range was a sacrifice we were willing to make.

Black magic has such a weird character arc. As a current BM owner I wouldnt trade my internal nd’s but it is compelling. If they release a pro version Im all over it. I shot some filler for a feature last year and my 6k was matched to an Alexa A cam by a colorist.

Guys. Im sorry for my oppinion but color grading is terreble. There is no details in shadows. Great job in testing, but if you having 40% of picture clear black (zeroes), like on 7:00 or 7:38 - it is not good. It is not classic. It is DOP's job defect. By the way i have one Pyxis in my own, but still cant test it - have no time. Watching this video in discussion with my movie director. By my oppinion the camera is 2nd under Alexa. RED is only 3rd. But durability is still under question.
