Can we get more AD design tutorials? Some specific skills that AD's should be practicing (indesign, etc.). Great channel btw!

I’m 18, it’s my last year in high school...I have no experience in A.D filed but I would really love to go straight to occupation in LA. I don’t think my high school portfolio is engaging enough to get hired. I watch your syllabus video and I thought maybe I can be an intern there and work on my portfolio in the mean time? Any advice?
@OpenDoorCreative3 жыл бұрын
The syllabus is something you could definitely work on in the meantime on your own to build your portfolio. I would say whether it’s in school or out of school, a year dedicating time to learning the programs, brainstorming ideas, and designing is generally what it will take to produce a good enough book to get a job. My advice is to keep on harnessing those skills and put yourself in the best position to succeed. Without professional schooling, you will just need to put extra effort and focused attention in practicing creativity and design skills. Show ideation and creative program know-how, and you’ve got a fighting shot! Best of luck.

What if I’m a shy person?!? Like is this job for me?!?
@OpenDoorCreative3 жыл бұрын
Totally. More art directors are introverts than you might think. You will have to step out of your comfort zone here and there but totally doable.

I need your advice if is it possible :) I'm 19 and studying applied arts that includes graphic, product, and media design. I'm I'll be majoring in graphic next semester. I already have a great back ground on problem solving, working under stress, experts in final cut photoshop & indesign. the thing is can I start taking jobs as an art director? i wanna build my portfolio starting now so when I graduate I'll be well experienced and has great portfolio. I already got couple of opportunities to art direct products. sorry for the long comment, I hope you sees this..

Hey there! I am a 19 year old who lives in Dallas, and was wondering if you happen to do internships or anything? Would love to do this career one day, but not sure if it’s for me.
@OpenDoorCreative3 жыл бұрын
We do but don’t have any internship opportunities at the moment. The only way to find out if it’s for you is to dip your toe and try it. Create spec campaigns on your own (have a video about this on the channel) and try to get an internship. Best of luck!
