I was 11 and my dad walked in on me reading the results of a "7 min in heaven: naruto edition" quiz on quizilla and he thought a boy was emailing me dirty stuff and I had to explain the concept of fanfiction to him. Lucky for me he was high on crack and drunk and forgot about the whole thing eventually.

I was hoping you mentioned OC fanfics especially self-insert. Fall into a Fairy tail is a fanfic where the female author's self-insert in Fairy tail world and mindful of shounen tropes like female teens dressing scantily and some males being pervs. It's interesting to see fanfics written by women in male gaze-y shows and comment on them.

i have a literal SasuSaku fanfic but the setting is normal world style and Sakura and Sasuke have 4 kids. Though the story mostly delves into family issues because their youngest is suffering a form of mental degeneration and as a family do their best to cope with it and make their youngest child comfortable. Then domestic problems arise like Sarada expressing her frustrations in both her school life and house life, the older two of the triplets having stereotypical sibling bickers and misunderstandings. Sasuke and Sakura rare presence in their kids life. Family struggles and whatnot. And Also with Sarada getting married after high school and moves out and then comes back a few months later to have her mother and family take care of her young son while she and Boruto will also stay but they will continue their studies in their city. Sasuke having a work place accident, He works as a Chief of police handling miscellaneous cases and unfortunately when on a sting was fatally shot along with other officers. Of course along with the stress of faking care of a disabled family member and the stress and anxiety of the father's condition. It would slowly take a toll on the whole family. Added to the damage that even though they were able to manage the problems and maintained the order and balance, the youngest child now in his mid teens went and took off with his infant nephew for some unknown reason and later on we will know the reason because, while his grandmother was busy preparing their breakfast, his nephew started crying and not knowing how to calm the infant he thought that if he bought ice cream it would calm him down. That lead to him going out the house without his grandmother's knowledge. Basically the climax of this story is the whole family having a wild goose chase with the help of the police. Along the way, the family will reminisce their happy moments and even will reconcile with each other. Sasuke even in his delicate state is determined to look for his son. The son went missing for 4 whole days, and he was actually having his own adventure of his own with a different story. And the ending was sweet as they would be reunited, they moved to a new neighborhood with a acres of land near nature. Ps the whole story is a mirror to my own familys story. And the lost kid here is me when I was 11, I took off with my 8 month old nephew to go to the mall to buy ice cream. It was a stressful month inside our house because not only my dad got shot but a fight broke out in between my mother, grandmother and sister. It was utter chaos and I really couldn't take all of it and my nephew wouldn't stop crying. I decided to leave the house and went out on my own. We were lost for 1 and a half day walking around the city. That was the first time I ever felt so free. It had a happy ending on my story and we also ended up moving in the countryside which is peaceful and relaxing.

I fell hard into Tokyo Revengers and do have (too many) stories on ao3, though not a lot of hits (not enough smut) but I'm glad I got into it from the creativity angle. I hadn't written in years. I don't add the reader as a character though, that's never appealed. I just like throwing the boys into AUs where nobody has to die... lol

The funny thing about fics is that they ignore the healthier ships for the most utterly uncalled for ones. I was a fan of this one manga series for like two years and decided to check out the fanfiction a while back only to find out that there was literally no one shipping one of the only unproblematic ships. It was quite literally canon as well. I was disappointed but not surprised.

Sometimes the unproblematic ships are not really interesting to write about, for a number of reasons (like bad character writing, the one that also plagues a lot of attempted straight pairings). Sometimes the unproblematic ships are not ones that would be appealing to the fanbase the show/book/whatever attracted. And sometimes, people are just disturbing fuckers who will write about a guy and his [WORSE THAN WHAT YOU THINK IT IS] having sex for a show that really wouldn't attract that, and you, as the bystander who came across the search result on AO3, just have to make the 'fuck Mondays' noise and move on.

i have a super specific memory of kodocha, i was around 10 when i found volume 9 at a thrift store and i read the whole thing obsessed with having no context of what was going on, and i would come up with elaborate ass backstories of what it was however when i was older i couldnt remember the name and knew it as 'sana's stage' and no one could tell me what it was so when i finally found it i was happy however i also didnt want to ruin the made up world i made in my head lol so i still havent seen it, i might start now due to this video! im 26 now its time lol
