Glad u made this bc i never finished marmalade boy. I remember finding it on YT back in the day (i was prob 10). I only made it ab half way thru (right when they exchanged medallions). I was definitely offput by a lot of the arcs/themes and knew i wouldnt make it lol

I watched the anime while growing up every once in a while on TV, here it's called "piccoli problemi di cuore" which means "little heart/love problems" and i think the problems are not that little lmao. But i did love it a lot

"My prepubescence self was eating this $$$$ up" So relateable.... i had no ideas what i was getting myself into.... All I know was that there was drama and romance and that the leads have to deal with it😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😅 Not sure if anyone else relate but the music doesn't help either....don't know why but it hyped my prepubescence-self.😅

I tried watching this anime with my best friend a couple years ago. Three episodes in and we hated everyone. Miki was annoying, Yuu was a shithead, the teacher was a creeper…we started praying that it’d just turn into a slasher and everyone would start getting picked off by an axe murderer except Meiko. Then she’d drive away only for the murderer to pop up out of the car’s backseat before smash cut to black.

I watched this anime a solid 20 years ago and I've never heard it in English before this, it's destroying a piece of my soul the dubbing is so bad. Your voice is lovely though.

Agreed, the English dub is so dryyyyy! 😩😩😩✖️👎

I'm so happy someone finally talk about this show!!! this whole show has impacted my whole life! I have collected merch over years and honestly i wouldn't want a re-make just because it wouldn't land it right with the 90's vibes retro vibes

Help I love this video omg 😭 all the ‘drama’ scenes are just so hilariously dramatic I can’t help but laugh at them, thank you for showing us this slightly problematic golden mess of a shoujo anime

I like that lot of animation design and color palate of early 2000s anime look like old-school NSFW stuff.

Finally someone talks about this MESS of an anime!!! Oh my gosh i haven't heard anyone talk about it in YEARS!! My grandmother got me into it, it was so bad we couldn't stop watching and reading. Noone knew about it around me!!

My favorite shojos are the middle school romance which also follow the characters to high school & adulting because it so so cute seeing their innocent, watching their innocent disappear and trying to find themselves as they get older so Marmalade boy little would probably be in my lane more.

Keep doing similar anime series like this!!! Especially older throwback back ones. I’ve seen a few episodes of Marmalade and read a few of the manga book when I was younger but I never was able to finish it. Even as an adult I get too lazy to watch it lol. But I did like the story from what I could remember. So because of your video detailing the whole series for viewers I can finally know what happened between them! 🥰

Marmalade Boy was ICONIC when it was a recent release in the 90s. It refreshed so many of the 70s/80s shoujo pitfalls. It was messy but SO entertaining~ (Also..hearing Michael Lindsay's voice in your clip samples made me weepy, he was gone too soon. ;w; )
@mippaАй бұрын
That said, there was a lot in the anime that was added that wasn't in the manga that made it triple the mess it was originally. XD

My favorite manga growing up was Kodocha, which was described as "Marmalade Boy on crack" so I sat down to watch MB and its honestly already on crack

Marmalade Boy will always have a place in my heart. It`s one of the first shoujo anime I`ve ever seen,the songs just opened up a whole new world for me(no wonder I`m such a City Pop fanatic now) and the aesthetic of it always made me happy. While the stepsiblings plot is kinda worrisome,there are much bigger red flags(Ahem STUDENT TEACHER relationship) in this anime than that. In reality Yuu and Miki actually have some really cute moments together,all things considered,even though when it came to the whole student teacher relationship everyone messed up in terms of the advice they gave to the poor girl. On that note,while I was watching Marmalade Boy,I was also watching Kodocha(or Kodomo no Omocha) and that anime just has the best enemies to lovers to this day and much of it still holds up surprisingly well.
