Josei is the most underappreciated demographic genre, everyone is all about shonen, seinen and even shoujo but with josei people act like it barely exists 🥺

Literally this!!! Every anime con I go to almost always has just shounen merch and I WISH we could just have some shoujo and josei merch for once

Josei is the underdog category, IK I’m technically the demographic, but there’s so much about the works to love.

Thank you for this! I’m 30 now and I’m been looking for anime/manga that is not in high school but also doesn’t have sexualised characters.

Kuragehime was my first manga (and anime!) back in the 2010's! It's still probably my favorite manga of all time. I'm so glad to see josei getting some love, and it's especially great to see another guy who loves josei just like I do!

I feel like this video is a sign that I need to finally watch/read "Life Lessons with Uramichi Oniisan". I was also surprised to see that Osomatsu-San was a Josei ahaha. Thanks for the recs. I've read or watched a few of these series, but I've haven't heard of a good chunk of them Edit: I unfortunately remember Loveless. Also, Chihayafuru is great. My sister and I loved watching all 3 seasons of the anime together

Yoo Osomatsu-san mention! Big vouch for that one on the comedy section. Thank you for putting together this catalog of recommendations! I can't wait to check more of these out! The ones you've mentioned that I have read/seen before were so influential for me, so I'm excited to check out the others!

Oh shit i didn’t even know The Gokusen was a Josei series. I only watched the anime, got kinda creeped out by the hinting at a thing between Shin and Yankumi but i enjoyed it overall. I think those feelings stem from the fact that I liked Shin and had a crush on him, plus the power dynamics didn’t sit well with me. I’ll have to contend with those feelings if I ever decide to read the manga. But this was a pretty informative video and I appreciate that! (especially now that I’m actually in the josei age demographic.)

Pet Shop of Horrors I think was the first official Josei anime series from 1999 1999 - 2013 2014 - 2028 1999 - 2014 2015 - 2030 By a 15 and 16 year margin, all Josei anime generations

Actually, Nana was published in Cookie, a shojo magazine 💜 but Nana is a series that confuses people😅. Love this video!!! It is amazing and full of great recommendations! I took notes of some series. Thank you thank youuuuu💜💜💜

Yea, I did mention that Nana ran in Cookie which was later turned into a josei magazine. So it’s actually more of a hybrid tbh.

Thanks for the recommendations! BTW there's also a live action drama for Tramps Like Us streaming on Retrocrush (titled with the more direct translation "You're My Pet"). It's short and some of the story gets left out but I really enjoyed. The male lead is also aged up to 20 which, personally, I appreciated for a live action.

I definitely was first exposed to josei thru jdramas. I was surprised to learn that most jdramas I watched were adaptations of josei and Shouto mangas lol I used to wonder why there weren’t as many animes🎉being made for this genre only to realize it’s because they get live action adaptations instead.
