Have been making rasam all my life. Interestingly, came across a different way of making rasam every time I met someone new! This video is an awesome presentation of rasam making as an algorithm! Thank you!.

Thank you so very much for putting together this video. Every home has a distinct rasam and I’ve always wondered how there can be so much variation. Your breakdown of steps explains it so well! I’m going to be trying out a new variation of rasam every day I guess :-)

I would say kokum, pineapple and limes as acids also work, while kokum, pineapple and tamarind are fruity sour, limes are a clean sour .

Your narration is tremendously calming. Listening to it as part of a playlist while working. Can you please make a video on the science of asafoetida? Most of us don't know why and how it should be used.

I am from Bangladesh and recently came across your channel. I must say it is absolutely fantastic with precise and to-the-point content. The cherry on top is your crisp presentation. However, i can't help but wonder why your views are relatively low. Plz note that i am praying for your channel's success. Cheers...👍

I grew up on Tamarind Rasam, but now I myself make the Tomato Rasam as you mostly described it. My mom was horrified to hear this until I pointed out to her I picked the recipe from a book by Meenakshi Ammal that herself left with me. Around 15 years ago I visited Karwar and an adventure company took us out to an island called Kurumgad for an overnight stay. At night the organisers walked down to the "beach" or some spot by the sea, collected and cooked us oyster Rasam. to me that would be one of the tastiest Rasam meals I have ever had. Perhaps I'll try making one with shrimp stock sometime!

I have never added Tamarind and Lime together in Rasam. It is usually Tamarind and tomatoes. Thanks for the different varieties of Rasam ideas.

Green chillies and ginger are ingredients I've never seen used in my family for rasam. Garlic, yes. Dried red chilli, possibly. But nvr ginger especially. Is this common??

Every house has a different method of making rasam and each one will (rightfully) consider it to be the traditional way of making it.
