I get so sick and tired of these commentators saying "that's not a foul, this is playoff basketball" It's rediculous. If it's a foul in the first game of the season it should be a foul in the last game of the season. That's like a cop saying to a speeding driver on Christmas day "that"s not a violation, it's a holiday" Totally rediculous. A FOUL IS A FOUL, no matter when it happens.

Well there was a court case where some NFL fans tried to file a suit for "damages"(loss of ticket money, I assume) because of the New England Patriots video taping opponents. Their argument was that this essentially meant the fans were being defrauded by paying to watch a rigged game. But the judge ruled that the only thing a ticket entitles a fan to is entry into the stadium and a seat to watch the show.

Watching this video made me realize that the 2014 finals were fix. There's no way the heat lose 3 straight in the finals with the level of talent they had. I feel like a dumb ass for defending the NBA, but now it all makes sense. Lebron losing the finals gave him the reason to go back to Cleveland and set up for another big 3 that was younger and was on the rise. It is mess up what the NBA is doing. Every time I see something weird I'll question it. I can never watch a basketball good game without thinking if the game is rigg or not

+John Noelsaint Keeping the 2014 Finals lopsided was probably to make sure there wouldn't be any miracle finishes like the year before. Though they favored the Spurs overall, I don't think the NBA particularly cared who won the first Heat/Spurs Finals in 2013. But they weren't going to let Miami win twice so they never allowed it to be close in 2014. Which was annoying because the Spurs were good enough that fixing the games that hard was overkill. But I guess that was the point the NBA wanted made. The owners didn't want LeBron in Miami in the first place, as they made clear on several occasions.

sports nowadays is very similar to wwe 1. you put over the most popular team/player (put over meaning refs call fouls in favor in the team/player)] 2. Vast amounts of media for the "best player in the league" by winning rings, merch etc. 3. W and Ls are predetermined 4. the teams who don't win are what in the wrestling biz call, jobbers. basically make the "good team" look even better/dominant. 5. For every vet that is on the way out, play the vet against the rookie, have the rookie's team beat the veteran and essentially puts that rookie or sophomore over, i.e mj (wiz) kobe (lal). 6.repeat

It makes total sense why Mark Cuban got his ring that year. So he can keep his mouth shut. Stern probably promised James a three peat after that. I literally dont think there are people who dont think the NBA is rigged. Those that actually dont think it is I dont think they actually watch games. The biggest rivalry in nba is Heat vs Pacers. But in reality someone is way superior than the other. Pacers are really good but when James wants to shut somebody down he will. If you watcg the two games this year the Nba made sure those games were close. The first one james shut george down so they got him in foul trouble. the second game it was the same. bosh and james quick two fouls. then pacers started running away with it so hibbert got into foul trouble so heat can come back.

I honestly don't think the Pacers are that good. Rather what I think happened is that the Rose got hurt making the rival Bulls irrelevant, so the NBA felt like it had to give a similar defensive team the Pacers a push to make the EC playoffs interesting. It's the same reason why the Pacers-Heat series will be competitive this year as well despite the Heat being the vastly superior team. Maybe you saw what happened this year after Rose got injured again. Firstly the scorching Nets "coincidentally" tanked to fall into 6 seed to set the stage before the playoffs even began. The NBA then proceeded to bury the Bulls entirely this playoffs and push the Wizards by allowing them to beat the Bulls in 5 game. "Coincidentally" the Wizards have a young marketable player in John Wall who's far more marketable than anyone on the Bulls roster sans Rose. "Coincidentally" teams with marketable players happen to do better than teams without marketable players (see the Nuggets first-round exit last year). The NBA also got its desired second round match-up between the Nets and Heat that had "coincidentally" been previously built up by having the Nets sweep their season series against the Heat. That's the general case with the NBA. A whole lot of "coincidences" coincidentally happen.

So I decided to watch some of the 2014 playoffs to see how the new commissioner and the people helping him get started would do things. OK, I know the NBA becomes steadily more and more rigged each year, and maybe my shock is because I haven't watched it the last two years or so it seems sudden to me, but...this is fucking ridiculous. I've seen series extended before but not like this. 8th seeds taking 1st seeds to 7 games? Not one fluke, but two times in the same one playoffs? And the score manipulation has been insane. The scores of every game were manipulated down to the wire or into overtime. 5 Game 7s, 8 overtimes and 15 games decided by 3 or less in just the First Round alone. The games I saw were controlled by the referees from the opening tip to the final buzzer. I've never seen it this rampant and all-consuming. The players inside the jerseys didn't even matter. They could have had Jeff Van Gundy suit up instead of LaMarcus Aldridge and those Blazer/Rockets games would have gone the same way and come down to the last shots no matter what. I was expecting a little extra fix this year to make sure Adam Silver's first playoffs was a memorable one, but this is beyond even my expectations. Since it seems like they're going to start the Silver era off by going for the simplest, cheapest thrill possible, I'm expecting a LeBron/Durant rematch in the Finals ending in a LeBron 3peat until given reason to think otherwise. Judging by what I've seen so far, the (relatively)subtle complexities of David Stern's methods for fixing the games have been pushed aside to see if blatant, in-your-face game fixing will be accepted by the fans.

THE FUCKING DETROIT PISTONS in the last 20 years.. You don't understand marketing if you think having the knicks be so bad for so long is maximize their profits. @gtownlt23
@gtownlt23 11 жыл бұрын
***** No, not a Ted Nugent fan, that's my real name. I could care less if you take me personally seriously or not, I could care less, that's your perrogative, not mine. I sure hope you've done your homework, or at least made some sort of attempt to answer your questions. If not, then I will. It's very simple. San Antonio Spurs = the largest SMALL market team in the league. Although San Antonio is almost 2 million people in the area, there is also the Austin, TX (600,000 population) market 30 minutes north. No other small market team has that much anywhere in the league. Sure, Stern hates having them in the Finals because of low ratings, but they are the perfect disguise to Stern's manipulative plan to sort parity with the larger markets by having 1 small market team with almost 3 million people within 45 minutes radius of SA. Stern has also mentioned and rallied for years to attract international allure to the league (hence the numerous pre-season & regular season games in Mexico, Phillipines, China, Japan, etc), and mixing them into an international city such as SA is another perfect disguise. Here is a list of a few international players that have played on SA's roster since 1999 thru 2007 during their championship prominence: Tony Parker - France Ginobili - Argentina Tim Duncan - Virgin Islands Tiago Splitter - Brazil Boris Diaw - France Beno Udrih - Slovenia Francisco Elson - Netherlands Fabricio Oberto - Argentina Radoslav Nesterovich - Slovenia Mengke Bateer - China Andrew Gaze - Australia No other team from that time frame posted more international players on their roster. Oh, and let's not forget that when SA began their dominance, their home games were hosted in the Alamodome, which held over 60,000 people for home games. Multiply that number by the insane amount of playoff games = BILLIONS of dollars produced by just 1 team alone! Wouldn't you want that kind of money if you were running a business? That's what I thought... Houston Rockets = large market! Houston is the 4th largest city in the US, and fastest growing major city as well. Don't forget, Houston's 2 titles came in the midst of Jordan "retiring" (due to gambling problems, and not just to play baseball), and featured one of the biggest star Centers at the time (Olajuwon). There was no other route to turn to when Jordan announced retirement, and Stern had no 'script' written outside of the billions of dollars Jordan brought into the league via endorsements, marketing, royalties, ticket sales, ratings, and popularity. Therefore, the league needed something "BIG" to attract the viewers. So, the perfect suit for that was having 2 major cities (Hou vs BY) in the Finals, and featured 2 of the biggest/most popular Centers in the league (Olajuwon vs Ewing) at the time. Yes, I know Shaq was already in the league. Those 1994 Finals just SOMEHOW came down to the final minute, final seconds, final shot, final rebound, final FT to determine the winner of about 5 of those 7 games from what I remember. Stern LOVES those kinds of venues! And when Olajuwon blocked Starks shot at the end of G6 to seal a 2 point win, all of a sudden John Starks was very reclussive to even make any attempt to score in G7 (why is that?) which again came down to the closing minute only to see the Rockets barely escape in a suspenseful ending (which is what Stern again LOVES)! Ah, the good ol' "Why hasn't NY won any championships since they are the largest market" argument. I'll explain the simplicity in that for you as well. Yes, New York is the largest city, and attracts millions of viewers when they are successful, but that can't be the only script you run every year. As you stated, the East Coast is the most popular with basketball. So when when you already have the most successful region already throwing billions at your league, wouldn't you want ANOTHER region throwing billions at you as well at the same time? As I recall, the Knicks were a very popular dominant team throughout almost the ENTIRE era of the 90's. The reason they didn't win a title, well Charles Oakley said it best, and I quote him by saying "the Eastern Conference is all about defense, we have that. But unless Jordan losses his sponsors, billion dollar endorsements with the league, or leaves, we will always become 2nd behind Chicago in terms of being a championship caliber franchise". What does that tell you MisterPaul? That Stern's agenda was to have Jordan atop the Eastern Conference because billions of dollars would prosper through endorsements, marketting, and royalties by riding Jordan thru the playoffs, and not NY. It all comes down to money MisterPaul, billions worth, and not parity as you are so easily made to beleive by the NBA! And isn't it ironic that NY was 2nd hand behind Chicago during the 90's, so much that after each of Jordan's 3-peats, the Knicks were in the Finals (1994 & 1999)? Talk about easy to predict! And to further answer why the Knicks "haven't won anything" is because unlike MLB (which is also scripted), you don't want to write the same script every year with a New York team winning (Yankees) all the titles. And just so you know, the NBA, just like NFL MLB & NHL have shared revenue with about 60% roughly shared by all teams throughout the league no matter of how good or bad any team is. Detroit Pistons = large market! Detroit is by no means a small market, has over 1 million people in it's metropolitan area, they have a fairly decent following given their "Bad Boy" nickname and image, and at the time of their rise in the late 80's-early 90's their games were played in the Pontiac Silverdome, which hosted about 60,000 people. Again, just like San Antonio's Alamodome, multiply that by the amount of playoff games = BILLIONS of dollars alone from just that 1 team through a playoff/Finals run! Again, you wouldn't want that? This was the same time the NBA needed a new face aside from wirting a Lakers/Celtics script almost every year prior in the 80's (which is waaaaay to obvious to skeptics), a new image, a new.....team/player.....to find and market to represent their league. Therefore you got the "Bad Boy" image, a star in his prime (Isaiah Thomas), a new city to represent the league (which falls into the parity Stern likes to disguise), a big market, and a new 'controversial' team to attract viewers through their "bullying, do what we want reckless attitute." They were the hottest ticket at the time, even though Jordan would easily supplant them after their run, and Stern played it almost perfectly into his scheme of expanding the league away from Lakers/Celtics in terms of popularity. And lastly, you have the Mavericks. Dallas is by no means a small market, by your comparison. Dallas has over 2 million people in it's metropolitan area, and just like Houston , SA, LA, and Chicago, it's a top 10 city in terms of size and population. Their star player is foreigner (hmmmm, a foreign player to attract a foreign audience), is one of the best pure shooters in the league, and have a billionaire owner that will say whatever is on his mind anytime anywhere without any regard to consequence. Again, Stern loves this, but didn't realize this particular owner would bash, ridicule, and insult him to the point of making international headlines by calling him out in plain view of the public by stating his "league was rigged", which happened during the 2006 Finals. If I recall, it was G5 Mavs vs Heat where Stern gave orders to his refs to send Wade to the FT line 26 times. That of which, ultimately lead Stern to promptly fine, berate, and throw any chance of Dallas winning that series down the drain (if you want to claim the league isn't rigged). Of course, there was much more involved in that Miami title than just FT's that came into play which included endorsements, royalties, star players, and popularity. Now moving on to 2011 Mavs. The follow up to the 2011 featured a lockout that was inevitable, and was going to be watched very closely by rabid NBA followers. It also featured the first season of one of the biggest free agency moves in league history where LeBron made worldwide headlines, and hosted his own show to 'decide' where he was going to play. That move, although very popular with headlines and attention, angered a very large portion of basketball fans to the point where there was death threats, and a very putrid hate directed towards every leadership position of the NBA for allowing that move to happen. It was to the point where "everyone" wanted to see Miami fail, and Stern capitalized IMMENSELY by writing a script for that to happen. And NO, I am not a Heat "fan", but that was the most ridiculous show of a 'superstar' (LeBron) I've ever seen. The Heat were by far the 'better team' (again if the league isn't rigged), and the performance in Game 1 was proof of that happening. Then all of a sudden, everything Miami had going their way, just all of a sudden stopped. I have never seen so many wide open shots, wide open lay ups, wide open 3's, wide open looks from Dallas, or any other team, in a playoff series in my life. Why was that? Were orders given to the Heat to fail? Were orders given to Miami to stop playing defense? Did Stern not want Mark Cuban to berate the league with his antics with a lockout pending? What better 'gag order' to give someone with a lock out pending, then a ring to silence their antics, and to capitalize financially on seeing Miami fail after their charade of promising 8 Championships in front of the world before the season even started! The owners are a huge factor in deciferring thru a lockout, and would you want Mark Cuban, whom has an unlimited amount of money ridiculing your league in front of every other franchise owner? Would you want an NBA owner challenging your every "rigged" move against him to come out to the public? Is that beneficial for your financial outlook? If you answered 'yes' to any of those, then you kid, have no idea how a professional business operates. Notice, throughout the entire 2011 Playoffs, you never heard 1 peep from Mark Cuban regarding the officiating! Wierd huh, considering Mark Cuban has a notorious past of criticizing every aspect of officiating at LEAST once a week during the regular season, and just about every single playoff game? Why was that? Why absolutely no commentary from Cuban during those playoffs? Did Mark Cuban know something nobody else knew? Was Mark Cuban given a directive as to who would win the title in 2011? Mister Paul, these are just a FEW details I've given you here. I could literally write a book about how rigged sports are. This is information you can figure out for yourself by simply connecting the dots to how the NBA operates! There's no 'conspiracy theory' (as I already know you're gonna claim), since these are all facts that happened right in front of your eyes! You have to understand, the NBA is a business first, and is NOT a sport that you see on tv. This is a billion dollar entertainment industry, riddled with money and storylines to keep you watching. This is no different than how WWE operates. The only indifference between them is that all the major sports have Anti-Trust laws installed in their fine print to prevent fans/viewers/general public/consumers from suing them if they feel they are being cheated or harassed by any "unfair advantage" they display! The WWE doesn't really have any Anti-Trust laws, because they have openly admitted to being a scripted/rigged venue. Don't believe me, use your Freedom of Information Act to obtain copies of any players contract, rules, procedures, and documents that are kep from every venue relating to how they are rigged & scripted! They're there if you are willing and committed to find them! You seriously need to do your homework about how pro sports operates. Not everything is as real as you think it is, and whether you agree with the operation or not, this is the truth about professional sports! You may not agree with it, and that's fine. You may have a different opinion on how it's not rigged, and that's fine. I didn't belittle you in anyway for you to think differently, as you have your opinion, and could really care less if you took the time to read any of this.

I've been a close observer of the NBA for most of my life, and am a huge basketball fan. Here are my thoughts on referee involvement after watching most of the videos in your channel: 1. The refs tend to favor home teams. It's just human nature. Some are contrarians are actually favor visitors at times, because they don't want to fall into that trap. Reffing statistics on "basketball-reference" bear this out. 2. Some refs have certain players/owners/coaches they despise and ones they favor. Also human nature, and unfortunately the NBA has not been strict enough with the refs about it. 3. The NBA - through certain highly loyal refs, "company men", prefers longer and closer playoffs. So they will try to extend things, like the 1996 Finals when my precious Sonics won games 4 and 5 to keep from being swept. 4. The NBA - through certain highly loyal refs - those "company men" - prefers certain teams both due to them having popular players on their rosters and being bigger media markets with large followings (Lakers, Celtics, Miami, or just any team with LeBron). However, I think it has diminished since the awful 2006 NBA Finals and the Tim Donaghy scandal. That was the last time I saw it really blatant and there was widespread outrage. I think with the coming of analytics it is much easier to detect that kind of referee behavior and the administration and regulation have been more strict. The way the NBA trains and hires refs is way different now. It is much more professional and meritocratic and less about your connections. It used to be that a majority of the NBA refs came from one southern college conference and were hired on connections, not fairness and ability. The hiring and training now is much more strict and guys like Bavetta and Salvatore are dying and retiring. Finally, I do have some other disagreements with some of the arguments in some of your videos. First off, in your "NBA insiders" video you imply that rigging was at work in the Mark Cuban/Jeff Van Gundy/Yao Ming fiasco where Van Gundy got fined $100,000. I know people involved with the NBA, and have also read tons of NBA books and it's pretty normal in a playoff series for the respective teams to make complaints to the refs about certain players getting away with various violations (see, Jack McCallum, "Seven Seconds or Less"), and there's lobbying back and forth as the teams try to get the refs to pay attention to certain things they think are being consistently missed. That's totally normal, reffing basketball is hard and it can be pretty subjective (which is what makes rigging relatively easy, like with soccer, but people focused on the NBA being rigged tend to see it EVERYWHERE even when that's not the case). You also imply that "NBA insiders" universally think the NBA is rigged, but that's not the sense I get from friends and acquaintances involved with the league. Some of them concede a few series' have been tampered with by the refs, while others deny that ever happens, but even the former think it's rare and doesn't really happen anymore due to widespread whispering and the Tim Donaghy scandal, as well as all the changes in how refs are brought in to the NBA (there is tons of unconscious bias, but that's human nature). Anyways, you have some good videos with some good points, but I do think you are so focused on this issue that you sometimes see it where it isn't really happening, where there are other, better explanations for why the refs did something.

Alright, I was with you to a degree in the first video, but in this video, there's some outlandish, totally unsupported claims that you can't take seriously. To say that LeBron would purposefully play bad so the Mavs would win, is ridiculous. When you know how much a championship means to LeBron, you know he's trying to go down as the greatest of all time, you know he's constantly being compared to Kobe and MJ in terms of rings, with people telling him you can't be on their level unless you win rings...you think he would take any chances, you think he'd let the Mavs have even one game in that series. It's just ridiculous, there's no way any player would let their team lose on purpose in the NBA finals. Where on Earth did you get that idea from. It seemed to me, and it happens, that his head wasn't in the game. That happens, you have personal issues going on, you don't really feel like playing basketball, it happens. Or to say, the NBA wanted LeBron and the Cavs in the finals, there's no way to know that. You can't just assume things, you have to have something to back it up, and there's nothing. You can't just then assume, based on that assumption, that the refs were trying to rig the entire series for the Cavs, but the Magic were just too good even for the rigging. You can't assume that, and keep any semblance of integrity. Are some games rigged, sure. Are some games in the playoffs rigged, it seems to be. But I base that only on what is known, and it's known that Donaghy wrote in his book that some games are rigged, including playoff games. But that's all you can say, you can't say LeBron played bad on purpose so the Mavs would win. You an't say, the league wanted the Cavs in the finals. You have nothing to base that on, it's just some idea you have that you plucked out of nowhere. So, say that then. You talk as if you're somehow in the know. You're not in the know, you just make assumptions, for no real reason. It's hard to take it seriously, because it's just your ideas, you have no idea if it's true or not. You'd be better served to keep the question open. Did the league want LeBron and the Cavs in the finals. Was this or that game rigged. Did LeBron play bad on purpose. Here's the videos, you decide. That's what you need to do next time, don't come out and say for certain something is so, when you're not in a position to make that call. It's dishonest and it's hard to take these videos seriously.

***** You act as though someone suggested LeBron threw the Finals for shits and giggles or as a prank. I said I believe he threw the Finals because he had no other choice. LeBron is an employee. If he was ordered by Stern to lose the game and he refused, he would be kicked out of the league and his career would be over. Throw the quest for being the greatest and the Jordan and Kobe comparisons out the window. That all dies instantly if he defies Stern. As does a heaping portion of his income. As for the rest, you need to go to 5 minutes and 24 seconds of part 1 of this video and hit pause. Read that instead of putting words in my mouth. I didn't claim to *know* anything except that the league is rigged and some of the methods they use to rig it. I already said this is speculation. Albeit well-researched, witness-based and highly corroberated speculation.

TheRiggedBA C'mon man. David Stern would never kick out the best player in the league. I mean seriously, do you really think he would do that? Not only would doing that hurt the ratings, but he wouldn't be able to do that without having to confess to the whole league being rigged. And even if they were somehow able to make up some fake story like he murdered somebody and that's why he's being kicked out, he would still never do that because like I said, he is the best player in the league and not having him in there would seriously hurt them. Lebron generates huge revenue, because some people love him, and some people hate him, and everyone wants to watch him. You've just got to think about this logically and pretend you're David Stern. Would you rather have the Miami Heat win the finals even though you kind of wanted the Mavericks to, or have no Lebron James?
@TheRiggedBA

CJ543211 You mean the same David Stern that was going to kick Allen Iverson, the most popular player who generated the most money for the NBA, out of the league just for not following the dress code? The same David Stern that threatened to kick Phil Jackson out of the league merely because Phil suggested that referees favor home teams? You think a guy willing to throw star players out of the league for wearing their hats backwards wouldn't throw someone out of the league for trying to overturn the league's biggest plans by defying orders? David Stern doesn't think in terms of individual player value. Stern was a tyrant who felt he made players what they were. And in a lot of ways he did. Because he has a lot of control over how players are marketed by the league and how much success they have with their teams. If LeBron needed eliminating Stern could just have Durant replace him and tell ESPN to hype him up. That's more like how Stern thinks.

If you think the commissioner doesn't have the authority to kick players out for not doing what he tells them, then you don't understand how much power the commissioner has. And in David Stern's case, how much power he's willing to abuse. David Stern can and would kick out whoever the fuck he wants. And he made sure his players knew that.

While we call these leagues "sports," they are in fact businesses. Their business is entertainment. The NFL, for one, has actually argued this fact before the Supreme Court as recently as 2010. Being "entertainment," the leagues are legally entitled to do what is needed to entertain their audience, such as the creation and promotion of certain "storylines." Despite arguments to the contrary, this makes the NFL, MLB, NBA, and NHL on par with Roller Derby and Professional Wrestling.

Cleveland had to win so the NBA could give Cleveland a championship, because they "deserve" it. And now nobody can say LeBron is a fraud anymore. He has his third ring by coming back from 3-1. Nobody has ever come back from 3-1 in the Finals. That's all that the announcers ever said. Now LeBron is a legend for "changing history." Not to mention this is only one month after that 30 for 30 documentary Believeland came out. They showed a graphic during game seven of all of the teams in Cleveland, and how long it's been since they won a championship. Why weren't they talking about this last year? Cleveland was in the Finals last year too. Did they talk about it in 2007 when the Cavs made it to the Finals? And then when Cleveland won the game and LeBron puts on his show and starts crying. The guy's an actor. He has actually been in a motion picture film.

I think the so called 3 point bombing "math era" in the NBA is done on purpose. Small to mid market teams realize the only chance of by passing "the fix" is by having such elite outside scorers not dependent on fouling to score from the line. Essentially this new era style of play takes the whistles away from the REFS determining the games. If you bomb so many 3's and make so and so % you have a higher chance to win the game as a small to mid market team then depending on the ref to put your guys at the line at a normal rate.
@ArcticRaven0
@ArcticRaven0 5 жыл бұрын
If its fixed it won't be a way around the fix. If you had a three point bomber they could call offensive fouls underneath the basket to wipe his shot out. If its rigged then no one would be able to be able to go against the stage play.

There was once a tv team that revealed on air they had been given a report card written by the NBA on their performance in calling the game. I don't think they elaborated too much on what was in the report, but they did comment that they probably weren't supposed to tell the viewers that the report even existed "haha." I'm sure the league communicates with tv networks on not harping on rigged calls, playing along that someone did absolutely great to sink the shot on a foul to go for a 3 pt play, or that they "drew the foul with skill" (when in fact they weren't touched etc)

The 2015 playoffs have been Rigged AWFULLY. The Phantom foul call on Duncan on Chris Paul in Game 7 of the first round with 14.4 secs left in a tied game. Just WOW. Then of course David Blatt calling Timeout when he has NO TIMEOUTS LEFT and the referees dont issue a technical. Then they review an obvious out of bounds play giving the Cavs a timeout when they were out of timeouts and then they didn't get the clock right which led to Lebrons game winner in Game 5 Vs the Bulls in Chicago. The way they let Golden State destroy Memphis after game 4. I mean it's so blatant these days. I can't even watch anymore. It's so obvious to people who know basketball.

Hank Voorhees You mean game 4 obviously. Now there, I would agree. Although they didn't call: 1. Rose reachin in and hugging LeBron before he committed the offensive foul on Dunleavy. In the West a simple hug sends DeAndre to the free throw line. 2. Noah foul Had they wanted to help LeBron, they could have done a better job by making the CORRECT CALLS. If it's so SERIOUSLY rigged they wouldn't mind helping a little more. I didn't watch GSW-MEMPHIS past Game 4 although arguably GS has been getting the most calls. What happened in the other two games?
@hankvoorhees6648
@hankvoorhees6648 9 жыл бұрын
After Memphis took 2 games from GS they were no longer allowed to play physical. Gasol And Randolph were in Minor foul trouble which is ENOUGH to make them tentative on both ends of the floor. It is seriously rigged man. Not every game and not every play but the NBA historically in the past 25 years has been interfered with by the commissioners and the referees. The 1993 ECF finals Bulls.Knicks Charles Smith game was fixed. In the Jordan ERA Stern wanted MJ to win every title because MJ WAS the NBA in terms of ratings. In the POST-MJ era so many playoff series were fixed. I'll name a few. 2001 Lakers/Sixers: This series was rigged prior to the Donaghy scandal where the ref admitted that a Cabal of referees HATED Allen Iverson and purposely let him get hacked. They also said KOBE was nominated by Stern to be the replacement for Jordan as the face of the NBA. 2003 Spurs/Nets: This year the Spurs had the most international players with 4/5 of their starters being foreign. Stern realized Kobe had an image problem and this was where he decided to make NBA a truly global game due to plummeting ratings in the USA. Game 3 was a ref hose job against Jersey. The Nets should have won that game. 2002 WCF finals Lakers/Kings Game 6: This game is NOTORIOUS in NBA history. Just watch it on youtube. Lakers shot 27FTs in the 4th quarter and got away with brutal flagrant fouls. 2006 Miami/Mavs: Dwyane Wade got more FT attempts than ANYONE in NBA history finals history. He was dubbed "Untouchable" by the people who knew it was fixed. 2007 West Playoffs Spurs/Suns: This was the series where Amar'e was averaging 35+ pts with Duncan GUARDING him When the SUNS took control of the series the league issued that severe multi-player suspension that caused the SUNS to lose. Highly controversial. 2008 Celtics/Lakers: This matchup was ENGINEERED by the league to bring back two HUGE fanbase franchises in a rival clash for ratings. The Lakers were actually supposed to win this series but the refs messed up by not rigging it ENOUGH and the Celtics ended up winning. 2010 Lakers/Celtics: 1 year after the fuckup the NBA decided to have a rematch of the classic rivalry and this time they were determined to make sure the Lakers won it and they did. The ratings for this matchup was unreal. 2011 Mavs/Miami: This time Dirk became the "Untouchable" player and the Mavs overcame a 2-0 deficit to win the series. This was a perfect matchup for Stern because the Mavs got screwed 4 years earlier with the Wade nonesene and because everyone KNOWS Cuban and Stern hated each other. By letting Cuban get a ring Stern could silence the crticism that he fixes the finals for his "preferred" teams. It also shut Cuban up for the rest of time. 2013 Miami/Spurs: Miami had no business winning this series and it was dubbed the "Flop Finals" because of all the acting the Cavs did. 2014 Spurs/ Miami: In Sterns final year as commissioner how better to silence his critics for fixing than letting the SPURS, the team that generates the lowest ratings SWEEP the team that generates the highest ratings. You have to understand the fixing is very subtle and artistic to the casual fan or the untrained observer. This year they fixed the SPURS OUT of the playoffs with that absurd foul call on Duncan on Paul. You could make the argument that had the SPURS beaten the Clippers they would have easily beaten Rockets and have the best shot at beating the Warriors which means they could be the NBA Champs again. NO WAY the NBA was going to let that happen for ratings issues. If you don't believe me, watch all the finals I mentioned on mute and keep tabs of how the games are called. It's fairly obvious if you know basketball and the soap opera behind the scenes.

If you want to do a video on a rigged finals, do 2010 lakers vs celtics. First 3 games were so over officiated even the commentators threw them under the bus. They finally took the handcuffs off and the Celtics won games four and five. Lakers legitimately won game 6 and Celtics were beating Lakers in game 7 for 3 quarters until the refs put the handcuffs on again. 4th quarter free throw disparity says it all. 4th quarter starts BOS 57 vs LAL 53. Final score BOS 79 vs LAL 83. So 4th quarter points BOS 22 vs LAL 30. 4th quarter free throws BOS 4/6 vs LAL 15/21. Points from field goals in 4th BOS 18 vs LAL 15. You can tell the fix was in just from the box score anomalies. Boston was the much better team. They rigged the first 3 games but I thought they were purposefully extending the series(like they always do). I was hopeful when they let the players play after that but sure enough, in the 4th quarter of game 7 they handed the game to LA. LAL scored 53 in 3 quarters and 30 in the 4th. 21 FTA in the 4th quarter of game 7 in the Finals says it all. I've seen plenty of uncalled fouls in the Finals because the players are supposed to decide who wins(not the refs). Not this time because the fix was in. I quit watching NBA after this..

2. David Stern sent a message in more ways than 1 about players stacking themselves on teams (LeBron, Wade & Bosh creating a superteam in Miami, and guaranteeing 9 championships on national TV). Also by vetoing the trade with Chris Paul to the Lakers preventing another superteam in the process of being created (Kobe, Paul, Nash, Metta, and Dwight Howard). That 2011 Finals was Mark Cubans "gag order" (you know what that is), and was message sent across the league to stop making superteams via FA

Great videos and have been a fan of the channel for a while. I actually agree with most of the discussion surrounding the NBA being rigged and I find the overall conversation compelling. But one counter argument I haven't heard get brought up yet on this channel or any other site I've read is the sheer logistics involved in keeping a secret of this magnitude. There are so many people involved and working in the NBA to make it what it is that it would be mathematically impossible for the rigging part to stay a secret. Eventually some credible evidence or information would leak out and blow their cover. Actually I think there's higher studies of math that prove that for every person involved in a "secret" it becomes exponentially more difficult for that secret to be kept. This notion alone is the one thing that keeps me thinking that it might not be rigged. You could counter that by saying that the people involved in the NBA have a vested interest in helping to keep the secret since everyone makes money in that industry but eventually, given enough time or years, someone or something would have eventually surfaced (by choice or mistake), to shed light on the truth of the rigging.
@TheRiggedBA
@TheRiggedBA 3 жыл бұрын
My counterargument to that counterargument is that it ISN'T kept a secret. Numerous people from NBA players, NBA coaches, NBA reporters, to NBA referees who've personally rigged games themselves have all said the NBA is rigged. So it's at best an open secret. About the only thing secret-like about it is that the NBA typically tries to suppress these exposures and deny that they rig their games. But that's not a kept secret so much as just a lie.
@Xylord79
@Xylord79 3 жыл бұрын
@@TheRiggedBA In this context I think secret and lie have the same meaning. Not sure what the difference would be. But since there's no official statement saying that games are fixed then I would classify that as a secret but lie works too. Either way my mathematical argument still applies and would be near impossible to conceal a lie to this magnitude with this many people involved. You make it sound like it's common knowledge that they do rig the games but not sure I agree with that because most fans seem to think the game is legit and make fun of conspiracy theories like this. Also I think if it were common knowledge they would have a severe decline in viewership because most people watch the NBA because they believe it's a fair competition.
@TheRiggedBA
@TheRiggedBA 3 жыл бұрын
@@Xylord79 But it's not really concealed, though. Numerous NBA employees have said that it's rigged. So what the mathematical argument says would happen has already happened. The secret has leaked out on multiple occasions from multiple people. It may not be common knowledge, but it is knowledge. It's not something that the NBA has managed to keep from getting out into the public sphere.
@Xylord79
@Xylord79 3 жыл бұрын
@@TheRiggedBA That's fine... Maybe it has leaked out and just hasn't had the impact I would expect. I guess maybe most people don't believe it or don't care. Still doesn't feel like a settled discussion though. And I think if you asked any NBA league official whether they fix games they will either avoid the question or flat out deny it. If people know about it and don't care then might as well just come out and confirm it. Just make it be for entertainment rather than a fair athletic contest. The WWE is fake but millions of people still love that for entertainment. The NBA could be the same thing in that regard.

Also, I think anywhere James goes will be a darling too, so I always thought that the Heat's failure in 2011 was just them not being a cohesive unit, as their first season together. I remember the Mavericks offense was out-of-control unstoppable too. Yep, the more heavy handed the rigging has become, the less fun it's become to watch. An early example: 91-93 Bulls playoff runs were 10x more entertaining to watch than 96-98. In the early 90s of course there was still loads of bullsh*ttery and referee influence but... I distinctly recall noticing a HUGE uptick in fabricated storylines for the second 3-peat: _more_ manufactured drama, way more phantom calls, more missed calls, and injuries & suspensions that effected outcomes. I was a teenager through all the Bulls championship years but even as a naive, MJ-idolizing teen... I couldn't help but see these things. I think the NBA / Stern wrongly attributed _to their own scripting_ the 38M households for MJ's 6th finals. (An NBA ratings record which, despite NBA's best scripting, still holds). Ever since that the 90s, the fictional storylines, player drama, and game-to-game rigging have only gotten worse and worse. So that at this point, the NBA has become unbearable to watch. So I no longer do. All pro sports engage in this chicanery, but imo NBA is the worst and they hide it the worst. (although.... Goodell's NFL is giving Silver & co a run for their money)
