There's A LOT of history and dynamics in this topic (interracial dating in the Asian community) that really gets swept under the rug or misdirected because a lot of folks in our Asian American community refuse to confront it.

As a Chinese Venezuelan (Chinese heritage, born and lived in Venezuela) I can assure you this phenomenon only applies to anglo saxon countries (US,UK,Canada, Australia) because in South America its a more even playing field. In some cases you see more Asian male with Latina girls rather than the other way around. I personally blame the US mainstream media that keeps portraying Asian women as submissive to white guys and ALWAYS pair up Asian woman with a white guy but NEVER the other way. Basically, we all been brainwashed and we need to stop buying into this narrative. Because in real life (like in South America) it should be all even playing field. But in US (Anglo saxon countries) they portrait it against the Asian male narrative.

As an Asian woman who grew up in the rural South, lived in Boston, Houston, traveled back to the Motherland, and now lives in Ohio with her Asian husband...BIG CLAPS to the Fung Bros and Elaine. People need to realize that humans are complicated beings. I was told by multiple Asian guys I wasn't Korean enough. I was told by white guys I was just an experience. I've been up and down the spectrum with relationships. You gotta find someone who wants what you want at the end of the day. For me, I wanted someone to share culture, good eats, and a sense of family with. Interracial relationships within the Asian community are tricky. This is an issue that doesn’t get addressed enough. The sentiment of love should have no color is beautiful and should be the norm. However this is not the case for everybody. We live in a culture where historically Asian Men have been heavily discriminated against in this regard. Women of all colors are almost brainwashed to stay away from the Asian man while at the same time Asian women are highly encouraged to date/marry out. Asian women have been weaponized by other people in order to further the mate guarding agenda against Asian men. When Asian women go interracial they are essentially picking a side, and are indirectly feeding into the racism that plagues half the community. It’s not fair that they are put in this position but that’s just what it is. No one asked to be put in this situation. It also does not help that a concerning number of Asian woman have aligned themselves with the white mans propaganda and even endorse the racism and harmful stereotypes that plague Asian men. Seeing say a white man as an upgrade from an Asian man. Disguising their racism by labeling it a “preference”. To quickly label Asian Men as incels for pointing out racism, is simply just an easy way to avoid any real conversation. Agree that no one should be told who to love, but when it happens all the time to Asian Men, can’t help but point out the double standard.

I started viewing this channel because of the way you two present your topics. I have witnessed both sides of this coin personally...some people think that because certain folks have a lot of power in the society they date that type ...that criteria. Some of the relationships turn into good marriages that work out and some don't. ...Asian women sometimes get shafted by these men and after they get abused by them they learn. Also, some men have heard thier fathers, uncles, cousins, - say that asian women are this and bodies like that..circa 1940 - 1960 and on. I mean it's a cultural negative... just like other colonial sayings about people from other races outside of the caucasian race. Many white men, men in general want what they think are subservient women...( this notion again is or in the past has been scripted to be black, asian, uneducated or under employed women of all cultures and hues. Reason many men are afraid of strong, well educated white women..( they know they are not going to be able to control certain ones). Because at present many women in this class have just as much power and can take the abusive men to task, court, etc..this is one of the reasons in my opinion why there is such a strong backlash against..ABORTION A WOMAN CHOICE.. Many men know if a women has so many children that she cannot take care of.. that he ..can basically do whatever else outside of the home ... all while providing a external social appearance of maintaining a wholesome family life. On the other hand married women in this situation can find themselves stuck and threatened. If there was this real desire not to kill the unborn, then this society would not be trying to keep people as a whole down. There should not be in a country so intelligent..people living in the street, poverty so absurd along with hunger.

But the issue is I feel like we are too silent. And that's the issue with what is going on. The masculinization of asian men is like silent since very few people talks about it. And so many takes advantage of it to feel superior but the thing that it's not only white men that does this. I started seeing quite a lot of thought process like that but done by people from other ethnicities during the pandemic. I feel like this ideology that asian men are ugly/inferior and that asian women only goes for white men for their sement really flourished during that time. But more and more asians talks about it and bring awareness. I hope to see a future where a person won't be seen as ugly due to their race. I was working with a girl from Thailand who came to United States for school. She was dark skin, pretty, and petite. She commented to me that she felt weird around Caucasian males because she believed they fetishized her lol. I'm not an Asian American but Asian woman living in Philippines and finally, this has been discussed to a broader audience. I see alot of my countrywomen date or even prefer white men, maybe because of status symbol, an "escape" from poverty (usually happens on the lower classes), and the minority that genuinely love each other because they see each other as soulmates...yet I cant deny that the fetishization is so strong in both parties. I guess being colonized by western powers for so long did a number on us ☹☹☹ I married an Asian man but when I was still dating him, I got comments from my peers that why I dont date white guys instead because this and that, tbh I prefer dating/marrying someone whose culture is I have much familiarity with or like having some similarities. I just find it more intimidating for the culture clashes if I married outside my Asian race. I actually hated my so called friends for telling me the Asian bf now husband is a low quality choice for a partner and looked at white men as the higher standard.

It's always strange to me that asian women like to complain that white men pursue them when in reality the pursuing goes both ways. I have many asian girl friends who white guys but don't explicitly admit it. I believe there are a lot of valid points in this video but dont we have to at some point have to hold women accountable for dealing with certain guys which could in any race of men that see women as a fetish or just a hook up? I could be tripping because if I am call me out in the comments. Because if a woman is dealing with certain dudes that disrespect her or just see her as a fetish but she continues to deal with them cause these are the only dudes she likes, you can't feel bad when she has bad experiences with certain men she encounters. Since the conversation is about white men and Asian women, You cant say that there aren't Asian women who only date white men over their own race because of whatever reasons or false ideas then on a balance of probabilities end up dealing with white men who are toxic. If an Asian woman only dated black men there would be a chance that she would encounter ones who are toxic and only see them as a fetish. Another example, as a Black man that's like if I only date white women and then get mad and complain about white women being toxic, subtle racist at times and etc. This is what happens when you date one race, there is a chance you come across the bad apples. And to answer that comment in the video " why doesn't she ask Asian women to stop dealing with white men" it's because yes, you can't change anyone's minds with an article, and she not going to tell them to stop dating the men she exclusively dates. So I don't think this has to do with race but making sure you choose the right person, regardless of race. With any race, you need to choose the right partner and not just a partner that is perceived to be better than others. So at the end of the day, there are toxic men in every race even Asian men. And if Asian women date white men at a higher rate than others ask yourself why. Then ask if some Asian women are having these "bad experiences with these white men", and ask yourself why that is? It is that they are choosing the wrong dude, are they overlooking the red flags, Are they knowing disregarding the red flags just because the dude is white? Because we cant act like Asian women or women, in general, aren't capable of choosing the right partner by putting all the blame on the men. I believe Mrs. Chou proves that a lot of women including Asian women can be so naive into thinking that one race cant be toxic or that dating one race, in this case, white men here won't be ones that result in bad experiences. With regards to dating dynamics, the elephant in the room is that Asian women are generally considered more feminine and are in higher demand based on dating apps and respondents, surpassed by middle eastern women on average. One of the biggest reasons this problem with fetishization has been so prevalent is that it often is bilateral with the white men fetishizing Asian women coupling with Asian women who are fetishizing white men. When someone sees another individual predominantly as a member of a group to which the other individual happen to belong, rather than predominantly as an individual person who just happens to also have various group identities, there is a problem.

It's not about saving anyone. But I think if there was none of those jerks bashing on asian men then I would have literally no problem at all! But the issue is that we can't just get rid of all of those jerks. Like we can't just kill them all. When these kind of people exist and affect the mind of others around them. Even asian friends had case of a white men with a baseball bat near metro station yelling at them and almost attacking them. There's a difference between unconscious bias and conscious bias. A lot of people do it completely unawares - or ignore it for convenience sake. It's obvious why white guys don't, because they don't have to think about race at all in their daily lives. But the Asian American women? Bought into the whole liberal post-racial thing, seeing themselves as individuals. This is how white people think about race/racism, not systemically but at the individual level. It's convenient for both white and Asians to pretend it doesn't exist, that's what makes Black, Latinos and many Asians mad. As an Asian woman, I totally get it. I am a white woman in a serious relationship with an Asian guy. I understand why people are saying what they are saying. On all the fronts you mentioned. I agree with the “it’s who you hang out with/exposed to” thing. Because surroundings create impressions for people. That’s why it’s so important to have supportive people around you. I also think people can get very extreme in terms of their views or opinions based on bad experiences, and I feel sorry for them. People have judged my bf and I unfairly before. Like we have had cashiers at Korean grocery stores be rude to us for no reason, and some white men have this impression of Asian men as being “lower” like “why would she date him”. It’s super annoying, and I really hate it. Thankfully in my case, my family loves him and his parents are cool with me too over video chat and messages, even though we haven’t met in person yet (they live in Korea and we couldn’t travel due to COVID). The USA and Canada are countries that are fairly recent in terms of establishment compared to other countries, and much of what drives the USA and Canada are people who (have) immigrate(d) here. But just because you have no prior connection to indigenous people or culture, doesn’t mean you can’t learn about it or get to know it while you are there. Having no connections that way doesn’t stop people from immigrating. I live in Canada and recently we’ve been trying to reconcile with the indigenous population here since we have a dark history that way. There are more things being done now which is good, including education, which is where many people will be introduced to it. But there are all kinds of people in the USA and Canada. Awareness matters. And people come here for a better life much of the time because they are trying to escape oppression in their own countries. It’s the systems we have here that make things better for many. That’s just my two cents.

Wasn't a problem in my twenties as there wasn't a "trend" for Asian women to date white men exclusively. Though I wasn't a tall Asian male at 5'5", I guess you can say I was fortunate to have half a dozen beautiful white women interested in me. Does this make me racist for not being interested in them for dates or sex? I only wanted to date Asian girls because we have common culture. Fast forward to my late 30s and all of sudden I see a trend of Asian women who tell me they only date what men because they feel a sense of better worth or if I don't give into them like a brat. Fast forward no to my late 50s and married to Asian woman ...who is my same height and share similar values and Career choices,..... finally, we are realizing the truths of interracial marriages. Date and marry based on your values, not because of race. Though I might find other races attractive, it doesn't mean they will automatically compatible. Don't be sway by trend, be real to yourself and not let social pressure to make you think you are better because you date outside your race and therefore more desireable/better. Love this video. As an Asian American woman myself, I do want to point out the language you use in the beginning of the video suggests you have your own bias against white men. I agree some men have racially biased and hurtful attitudes towards women, but it fundamentally has nothing to do with whether they are in a sorority, or are a “soy boy”, “frat boy”, etc. If you don’t control your own bias, you will turn away multitudes of people who might identify with those titles, feel attacked, and consequently ruin the chance of them having empathy for your side. You cannot rely on stereotypes to make sweeping generalizations. You are saying that certain types of white men are evil people. This podcast really opened my eyes, Around 10 years ago(8th grade),I was in a program where we would help special needs students. One of the helpers was this asian woman and she was one of the nicest human beings I've ever met. One day these 2 white kids with autism where talking within earshot and they were saying super sexist stuff about Asian women how they're like slaves and if you go to an Asian country they'll worship you just for being white.
