The current singer is only following the tradition started decades ago by the long time anthem singer Paul Lorieau who was so impressed by the crowd singing along that he simply held up the mic to let them carry on. Edmonton knows how to have a great time.

I loved the great respect and class shown for both anthems by the Edmonton crowd. Several NFL players forever turned me off on their league (some years back) with their self indulgent, "look at me!" moments when taking a knee during the US anthem.
