@LuckyGunner

@Biggest 23 I don't know who keeps perpetuating that idea, but it's wrong. Demand is higher than it's ever been and the manufacturers simply can't keep up. I have toured these ammo factories. They are all running WWII-era equipment with modern stuff bolted onto it. New machines and the space to run them are extremely costly and no manufacturer wants to commit to that kind of expansion for a demand spike that will likely subside within a couple of years.

Ok dude, this video was incredible. I didn’t know I needed a 35 minute video from Lucky Gunner in my life tonight, but I did. I can really tell how much time, thought and research went into this. So much great information and I’m currently running a few very similar systems. I really appreciate that you talked about the bags too. For me the top picks are the “home-made” Banshee setup from the last video, and the folding AR. Personally I’m running a BRN-180S with a folder (1913A), HS512C, Magpul Pros, Streamlight HLX/LCS combo and Burnproof gear rail wrap in a Vertx Gamut 2.0 bag. It’s served me quite well.

I've got my 10.5" 5.56 AR with a Sylvan Arms Folding Stock Adapter for my backpack gun. Right now I'm running it in a standard, run of the mill Monster Energy backpack. It isn't quite perfect as far as size goes, since I've got a Surefire Procomp muzzle device attached, but it will definitely be shorter once I get the DeadAir Keymo flash hider installed. I do plan on grabbing a slightly larger backpack to fit it in, as well. For now though, it works. It allows me to fit my 10.5, with flashlight, RDS, magnifier, sling, MBUS, multiple magazines for my primary and my secondary, cleaning supplies, basic repair tools, a full change of clothes, spare parts, and a plethora of other EDC and "just in case" pieces of equipment. It's even for a pocket that was large enough for me to use as a dedicated IFAK. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with how it turned out, and it goes with me everywhere.

ahh yes the failed design that failed twice and will fail a third time. because fun fact trying to make a gun into a brick isnt practical 99% of the time. like do you guys forget the other time people have tried to make case guns and they all failed on the public market. its literally only used for security where carrying around a thick plastic shell of a case is deemed normal. and sadly this isnt the 1990 where those was common, you walk around with that now and people are gonna think youre carrying a bomb.

How’s the recoil on the pc carbine? Compared to 223. I know it’s 9mm and not much recoil. I’ve also heard the blowback carbines have a rough recoil. I want to set one up for my wife and son in a shtf/hd situation. If the recoil is rough though then I’ll just go with 223.

@@kfranklin308, the pc carbine has much less recoil than an AR 15. It’s a blowback yet it has features in the bolt that dramatically reduce recoil. Basically if I’m shooing targets closer than 50 yards I use my PC carbine. It has barely more recoil than my Ruger 10 22
@LuckyGunner
@LuckyGunner 3 жыл бұрын
@Kevin Franklin It's kind of an apples to oranges comparison because the Ruger is a blowback action, which means you've got a big, heavy bolt moving back and forth and that tends to contribute to felt recoil. I haven't fired the PC Charger, but we have the carbine version and it's more or less the same amount of felt recoil as a 5.56 AR. But it's not nearly as loud and that often makes a huge difference in how enjoyable it is for novice shooters.

I recommend the Ruger PC Carbine with the Copper Basin takedown bag. 8 lbs of pure 9mm joy, when you can get ammo. It looks like an ordinary backpack because on the outside, it is. 2 water bottle holders, comfortable straps, a few pockets and the standard leather-ish bottom for durability. No moly or tactical anything on it. And the Ruger PCC is a great little takedown gun that can quickly be assembled and made ready to go. Still not very practical for self defense if you need it right away, but perfect for traveling and camping.

Personally I like the idea of the back pack gun concept and think that it should be as simple and lightweight as posible. Two Kel Tec products come to mind here, the sub2000 as it comes, no red dot, no surefire, etc. and the RDB S bulbpop rifle. The first fits in a laptop bag and you have a 16" barrel PCC and the second fits in a backpack and you have a 16" rifle ready to fire. Both pretty lightweight

Good series. The whole NFA crossing state lines issue makes some of this difficult as well. For a quick EDC/Truck gun I have no problem using the midwest industries chassis on a 10/22, with 6x 25 RD mags, a folding adapter, B5 modular stock on a strike buffer tube, with a 1-4 LPVO and a 45 degree red dot. You just need to be very particular about shot placement. But, I do have military training and and know what it’s like to be in a firefight. Confidence to shoot in high stress environments with different weapons will vary in degree of accuracy with weapon systems you have the most vs the least amount of experience with. So, yes, .22LR can be a very useable round. I’d recommend a defense load such as Hornaday Critical Defense. I think it’s a 46 gr with a but-ton of powder behind it and hollow filled polymer tips.

I can reliably hit an 8” gong at 100 yards with no hold over when zeroed at 25 yds. I can also hit a 12 square gong at 200 yards pretty well, the only issue is hold over with an RMR at that distance. If I aimed for the top of the noggin I’d hit them in the junk at that distance so I know it would be useful IF I ever had to take a shot like that, tho I doubt I ever would.

Watched Part 1 yesterday and still scratching my head on the rationale for the weird magazine conversion and the non-direct blow-back. These choices seem to fly in the face of the gunfighter’s mantra, “simplify and add lightness”.
@TrueOpinion99
@TrueOpinion99 2 жыл бұрын
The magazine conversion benefits: 1) Your lower can still be used with any other AR upper, no matter the caliber. Think "one lower to rule them all," especially if you only have one SBR'd lower receiver. 2) Standard AR support equipment will work with it, like standard AR chest rigs and magazine pouches. 3) Training carry-over: you reload and manipulate the gun in the exact same way as a typical AR. The radial-delayed blowback system benefits: 1) Its just as simple and reliable as a typical blowback system. 2) Reduces felt recoil, compared to typical blowback guns, making running the gun mo' betta' during long strings of fire. 3) Go check out the video on the radial-delayed blowback system by Ian at Forgotten Weapons.

You've got to break in a GoRuck bag. They are SO well built that they are pretty stiff when you first get one. So even if someone was borrowing a friend's GoRuck it will most likely be broken in already.

I’d throw a red dot and a Dead Air Sandman K on that 9” 300 Blk build. That would even out the weight distribution and possibly lighten it up a bit!!

Another bag for a longer gun like the TAC-13 is a Tenor Ukulele case. I got one called "Glenmi Two-tone Ukulele Case Bag for Tenor Ukulele" and it will hold a 590 Shockwave in it perfect. Plus it straight up looks like an instrument case, cause it actually is. It's not Tough or anything, but on a trip to a hotel or camping or whatever, a Ukulele is not a strange thing to bring.

I put the 300 Blackout bands on my mags I've dedicated to my 300 BLK's too. I do use Amend 2 magazines exclusively for those guns, and P-Mags for the 5.56 guns.

My ideal backpack gun is an ar pistol with a shortened buffer tube, by either shrike industries or deadfoot arms, with a 10.5 inch barrel and a 10 rd magazine with a 30 rd backup. The optic would be a see all open sight for low profile parallax free rapid sight picture. Either that or a 556 draco that accepts ar mags, or a plr 16.

Really surprised nobody goes for a bullpup for these "backpack" guns. Why deal with all the compromises of a folding AR when you could have an X95 SBR if it's gonna be an SBR anyways? It would be even shorter, and retain the use of 556.

I think the "tactical" bag industry is missing a product that already has rifle and pistol pouches sewn inside the unit along with a dedicated clear panel for medical. The molle customization thing has the market flooded. Clearly some people like modularity but I personally get annoyed when I have to buy other products to make a bag functional and complete. Drop the molle on the outside, bags are made to put things inside, not outside. Plus it's a big ass advert for "steal me, I might have guns inside". I think if a company could do this and keep it under $100, they'd sell out overnight. What the hell am I getting out of a bag for $200-400? It's fabric, straps, and it holds shit. I'm not repelling with the damn thing. I'm not falling off a mountain and using it to break my fall. I just don't see any justification for the insane prices for some of the popular units out there. I'm not paying 3 bills for a backpack just because some hipster in Utah made it.

Also tactical bags are so damn common these days I don't think the "steal me, I might have guns inside" thing really applies. When I was in high school even, almost 10 years ago I rocked a "tactical" looking bag because I thought it looked cool. Literally everyone has them. My Dad is an Architect and wanted a more durable bag with lots of storage for when he visits job sites so he got a high quality tactical bag. It is filled with a laptop, blueprints, and a camera haha.

my backpack/truck gun is a 4.75" kak barrel chambered for 5.56, with a 10 round mag 30 round in center console, a strike industries pdw brace, fab defense folding grip, and flip up irons. sense its a pistol i can conceal it loaded up front with me in the jeep (michigan laws) it tucks nice in-between the door and seat. all i need now is a light.

I always figured a backpack gun would be very general purpose but small and light. Wouldn't having a LPV Optic kind of make it needlessly heavy and cumbersome without the benefit of being good for mid and close range? Like if you need to get in close quarters quickly are you gonna keep using the optic or have to take time to take it off and use irons? I'm asking because I have minimal experience and I often find zoom optics hard to look through when moving because of the parallax so I have a red dot and magnifier at the moment.

You're definitely a lot fancier with it than I am. I just got an innocuous looking but purpose built backpack that can hold a broken down 16" AR15, a spare Glock 19 and some mags/parts. It's just something I keep around and ready in case I have to leave/evacuate quickly.

I suggest a TNW ASR. Especially if your pistol of choice is Glock. I have the 3 barrel set, and it all fits into their custom backpack, with plenty of room for other stuff. It's 16" so no legal issues.
