Awesome setup you have there. I would recommend one change though. If you didn't do the work to protect the cat6 cable from lighting, it has the potential to essentially fry everything wired on your network. There are inexpensive fiber optic lines that can go through the conduit and will not conduct electricity that can be used instead.

Interesting! Have never heard of Cat 6 being an issue getting friend but guess it makes sense. Will look into it. Thanks for sharing!

@@KyleMalone I follow a KZbinr that calls himself "The 8-bit Guy," and this is when I first found out something like this could be an issue. He has a video called "Tour of Home Network 2020" where he goes over it because it happened to him. It's around the 6 minute mark where he starts talking about it. I'll add the link, but sometimes links disappear from comments, so I've given you the info you need to look it up if interested. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e6eTgX9ubpetiac

Great job! Love it! Instead of painting the floor black , which I think you will be able to see all the dirt, it will make it worse, ( it’s like a black truck, the dirt and mud is worse on it than a lighter colored truck, it will be the same on a floor) with the black foot you will be able to see all the foot prints every time you walk inside. I would just invest in a cordless vacuum, kinda like a Dyson or a cheaper version of it. We had dark floors installed and it was expensive and we hate them because you can see all the foot prints!! You have to constantly clean them! Maybe you should have had an ac unit that is a combo ac/heater, those are way better than the portable unit you have , and they cost almost the same, it would give you cold air in summer and heat in winter and not have to be switching out the air and heater units.

Very good point on the black floors! I ended up leaving them natural due to this! The portable unit is indeed a heater/AC. The heater is kind of blah, I have to double it up on super cold days with a 2nd small heater but the AC works great. Happy to share the details on it if useful!

Nice Consider adding a mini split AC as they may cost less over time in power usage.
@KyleMalone
@KyleMalone 2 жыл бұрын
I considered that as well. My deciding factors were that my area is already a bit shaded so the AC runs less, the mini AC was going to require $$ to install & then overall 2-3x more expensive, & lastly the size of the space. I didn't want to take up too much wall space. Just adding my $.02, can't go wrong!

@@KyleMalone yeah, I’d totally build one of these at my home but, we live so far out in the sticks that the interwebz doesn’t reach us currently. Hopefully Elon will fix that. I’d love to have one of these spaces as an auxiliary office when I don’t want to or cannot drive the 20min into town to my normal office. Thank you for sharing this. I really like the clean, simple layout. Very cool! Best! Pete Goode

Great Job! How did you connect CAT6 from your home to your shed? Did create a hole from your home to connect that?
@KyleMalone
@KyleMalone Жыл бұрын
Hey! So I run the CAT6 from the router that's in my living room, ran it through the basement, & out of the side of the house through a small hole where the fiber optic cable was coming in. From there, put it through the buried conduit & reached it to the shed. On shed, drilled a hole & connected it to the ethernet wall plate. Make sense?
