Also, I can look past the lower budget animation, sound alike voice actors, and other cut corners, *if* the writing's still good and it's fun to watch. So far, I'm holding out hope that it will be.

Bad Guys deserves to be a franchise. I think Dreamworks made a perfect move on this franchise. We want more movies like that (I want some company to finally made Animated movie about Greek Gods (I know that Disney already made Hercules, but I think It's time to some other companies to shine like DreamWorks or Warner Bros)).

There are a few things I would like to point out. I remember reading an article a month or two after the release of The Bad Guys saying one of the voice actors would reprise their role, even if it was a tv series if not a sequel. I’m definitely confused if this actor didn’t return because they either didn’t have enough money or if it was the actors strike. The other thing is this is probably the first animation project of there being a down side to stylized animation. With The Bad Guys not having realistic animation like Shrek or How to Train Your Dragon, this smaller animation studio probably thought they wouldn’t need to put much effort into it. With the original looking and moving like cartoons and anime while this makes it look lazy. When they are getting flamed by that robot, Mr. Shark and Mr. Piranha look like they are basically t-posing and they don’t even look like they’re showing any emotion either. There’s literally a scene where Mr. Snake turns around and glides without moving.

Am I used to it? Yeah. Pretty much every popular DreamWorks movie has a Christmas special. Madagascar, Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, Trolls, The Boss Baby, maybe more I'm unaware of. The Bad Guys getting one too doesn't surprise me at all.

From how I see it, the Bad Guys are trying to rekindle the holiday spirit so people can stay home and they can pull off their big holiday heist after all. I would like to mention that I like how the author of the source material, Aaron Blabey, is becoming more involved with this franchise than just being an executive producer for the first film. If the first film ever gets a sequel (which is rather likely) than I hope he also comes back as one of the screenwriters. Little sidenote, I think this special would look better if it was 2D.

Hey I’m positive that it will turn out good! I mean it’s directed by the original author of the book and the trailer looks promising, of course not top tier cinematic quality but the premise is decent and reminiscent of The Bad Guys…even if in the movie timeline, it doesn’t make sense? They should’ve made it a sequel tbh Anyways, only thing that is a little bit concerning is the replacement of ALLL THE original cast members. If they are planning to make this a longtime franchise then having all the cast members replaced for your first spinoff is a bit uhm…well concerning. But idec, it’s THE BAD GUYS! If the plot and writing is good then animation means little to me in the end. Edit: okay they couldn’t have made the animation A LITTLE BIT more smooth, it’s always the spin-offs and side projects of an existing larger project that have the choppiest animation. (And the quality makes the characters look dead inside) Lower budget studios can provide smoother animation cycles than this but BEFORE I GET TOO CRITICAL… I’m still going to be positive it will work out because *yes*

When I saw this, I did notice the drop of quality for it. To me, it seems like the animation is a bit stiff here and there and a bit flat. I agree with that with Dazz, I also don’t like these holiday spinoffs ( Besides the Madagascar penguin Christmas short ) But I’m interested to give this a bit of a go, but I’m trying not to get my hopes up or hopes down too much, I’ll give this a chance. :)

As long as The Bad Guys special is similar to Lupin the Third like the movie, I'd still be interested. Having professional voice actors instead of celebrities I've never heard of since I stopped caring about most tv shows in the 2000's is a plus for me. I prefer voice actors with decades of experience like Rob Paulsen, Maurice LeMarche, Frank Welker, Cree Summer, Tress MacNeille, etc but the current voice of Mickey Mouse for Snake is cool. I think that's a upgrade over whoever did his voice in the movie. Either way I haven't had Netflix since late 2020 so I'll never watch it so it really doesn't matter to me. I'm happy with Hulu with ads for now.
