Neither is a bad choice. I have ridden both an love them. Currently have a 2016 Road Glide Special and that is the ultimate for me. My brother in law rocks a Street Glide and he loves that bike. Ride both and decide for yourself. Change out bars, intake and exhaust and make it your own. Don't let anyone tell you how to go.

Definitely prefer the look of a Street Glide Over The Road Glide but for now will stick with the Softail, I don't need a radio or windshield at this point and time. I would have to say the Road Glide would be the best choice if you're covering long distance, but in the end it's your money so forget what everybody's thinking and do your thing 😯

They are both good touring bikes; to me the biggest two factors are your body size and design aesthetics - IMHO: if you’re tall you could go with either one, if you’re short however go for the SG as it’s way too easier to use the screen and make whatever adjustments you may want while moving. My personal choice would be the SGS for better looks and easier to handle the front amenities. I am also biased (I have a SG CVO)😎

I'm considering buying a Road Glide, but the overwhelming majority of my riding will be daily commuting and short trips. How have you found the Road Glide to be around town; or did you purchase yours for the open highway? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Trae UCity man i bought it for longer riding but i do ride it in town too. It’s a heavy bike and if you were gonna be in stop and go traffic it might get tiring. It’s a great bike and handles well in any occasion

@@19Trent69 Right on, I get that. They are bulky when sitting on bike facing the shield. I hate the look why facing the shield. It was the closer to everything is why i went with the Street Glide... I'm pretty sure in the future I will get a bagger. I just upgraded to a Sport Glide before Christmas, and haven't had much time to ride due to work and this stupid beer virus. I have, ridden both of these. I would pick the Road Glide between the two. BUT! I am like you, liking the wind....so the bagger of choice would be the Road King Special. Not much more than a standard street glide, but totally my style!

Great review and funny as hell!!! Like you two stated, personal preference is what it comes down to. I think with the larger fairing and the dual head lamps on the Road Glide, I feel like it presents itself with a slightly larger presence which means it may be slightly more noticeable and thus safer on the streets. I'm just getting back into motorcycles after a 40 year vacation from them. I plan on riding both models several times, but in appearance, I think the Road Glide is a better look and also perhaps a little safer.

I'm sorry I rode Road Glides for 18 years. I did go on to a different bike. I got tired of the Harley-Davidson marketing scam where are you buy a bike with substandard parts and then you pay for the privilege to add the parts that Harley-Davidson should have put on the motorcycle. If you listen to and red the third quarter report from Harley-Davidson and their future plans they are going back to the bad old days lower numbers of bikes higher prices for bikes and more premium bullshit. The bike should have come with all the parts to make it a competitive performer with the motorcycles in its category.
