Everyone here thinking getting rid of generic boss monsters is a good thing. Konami reading this and thinking we've done it! Now we can make the perfect loop of printing broken archetypes with broken boss monsters (Ariseheart, kitkallos) then banning them every other format so that the archetype isnt as good as the latest deck. Only thing standing in the way of sales was generic boss monsters

If MD was bo3, people would abuse this a lot, so it's held back by being forced to run 15 HTs which pendulum decks cant really do. But in the TCG, you could play boardbreaker pendulums which makes this much more plausible to play

I'm really hoping that the removal of Baronne and Savage Dragon means they're FINALLY moving away from generic boss monsters in the ED and towards archetype specific boss monsters. The coolest thing about the anime as a kid was all the different decks and their unique boss monsters, so if this takes us back in that direction I'll be very happy. Though the skeptical part of me thinks they're just planning to release new generic synchro 8's and 10's, so they got rid of the old best options so you'll want to actually buy the new ones.

Or they have to be hard to pull off. Like the new Exodia fusion is an omni, but takes a lot of set up to get to similar to old Quasar decks that Baronne and Savage can do with 2 cards.

The bans were based. Kinda wished IP or Appo were hit too but I'll take it. Bringing Protos and Colossus back tho is cringe. No I don't care if Swordsoul or Thunder Dragon have been power crept, bringing back floodgate monsters will always be cringe no matter what. Also just ban Anti Spell already pls. The semi limits.... Meh dont matter. The unlimits are ok. Decluttering the list and bringing back some old friends is kinda nice. Been a while we have a list where the bans are by far the most based and interesting part of it lol

For Savage just make it so it needs one DARK Dragon Tuner and it's fixed....For Baronne make it so it needs 1 "Fleur" tuner and give it more support so it's a official rogue deck.....Linky is straight up completely fine as he is if you ask me.....

They needed to get rid of these cards because it was limiting card design. They have been pushing out lower powered boss monsters with interruptions instead of negates, often tied to archetypes, that people were choosing not to play because there were generic omnis that were easier to summon with better effects. This now gives incentive to buy into the newer stuff and gives combo decks more of an identity than the same 5 usual suspects for every end board.

MD has its own banlist that updates more frequently and has smaller hits since its all Bo1 format. MD banlist is also more influenced by the OCG banlist than the TCG one
