From a player standpoint, it's not a bug. It was on the PTR and worked that way. It was reported on KZbin and I believe at least once on MMO-Champion or Wowhead during the PTR. I heard it was changed at one point in the PTR, but it was not clear if that was the final version. When it hit live, it was stackable, but with no cap. I think on PTR the stacks worked differently, but it was stackable as intended at one point. Blizzard did not communicate that the item had changed since it'd original PTR version. Banning players for using an item as it was originally intended, although on an extreme level, is ridiculous.
@justsomeguywithagoatee83375 жыл бұрын
From a player standpoint, it is a bug. You're doing something you'd never do INTENTIONALLY for an unintended side effect. That is exploiting... If the potions could be used over and over and stack without splitting you'd have a point. If you didn't have to manually split them over and over into x1 stacks where it wouldn't otherwise stack the buff THEN you'd have an argument. But it doesn't stack normally. It only stacks when you do something specific.
@shadowbolter59495 жыл бұрын
Remember when Blizzard said they'll be communicative? Yea. I remember. Edit: To everyone saying "wElL mAyBe ThEy ShOuLdN't HaVe eXploiTeD aNd ThEy WouLdN'T hAvE bEeN bAnNed" you're missing the point. Blizzard was made fully aware of this bug and people went to their twitter, asking them "Hey are we supposed to be able to stack this or not?" and it was radio silence. The playerbase isn't frustrated they got suspended, they're frustrated because Blizzard is incredibly inconsistent with their ban hammers. Cauldron exploit? Nothing. Mythic Jaina exploit? Nothing. Agatha from Legion Mage Tower exploit? Nothing. Etc etc. All game altering bugs and exploits, and nothing was done. Allied races come out and people do this potion bug and now suddenly the ban hammers drop? This is why people are angry. Not for the ban itself. Most don't seem to give a shit. I would gladly accept a 31 day ban if it meant I got a level cap character in 20 minutes but hey I'm not subbed because this game is trash now anyway.

Blizz cares about levelling bug and not the rogue bug or the cauldron bug because Levelling makes money for blizz via boosts. If levelling isn't tedious then boosts aren't attractive. Just lost 2 of my healers during Jaina progression, both getting a 1 month ban when one of them leveled for like 30 levels with it - one of who is saying he's jut going to quit, but losing half of my Jaina healing team puts not only the Jaina kill but the guild itself at risk, one of two mythic guilds on our server and the only Horde one. I agree with bans for abusing stuff, but the length seems absurd for a "victimless" bug while cauldron exploit goes unpunished, honor level wintrading was neither punished not rolled back etc - 7 days would have felt punitive enough, no idea where the Month long figure comes from bar possibly streamers for advertising it, Blizzard are so wildly inconsistent.

What do you mean 'their choices' force the players into not wanting to level? They scaled every zone specifically for the reason of being able to experience whole zones stories and not only a chapter of it if you level with heirlooms, that was what the playerbase wanted. And yes, the part of the playerbase which exploits bugs unjustly, should actually be punished, because that wasn't meant to be in the game. What do you expect? I didn’t even know about this bug until this video. Didn’t know it was a thing, didn’t know people were getting banned at all. And I’m kind of just baffled. Like on one hand, yes it’s a bug, and intentionally exploiting a bug should be met with a ban. Especially for anybody who is showing tons of other people how to abuse it. But they waited two days to do anything, amid a furious storm of reports and questions. Right now is about 11 AM EST (US east coast) on March 23rd, and I’ve looked and am still completely unable to find any official statement by Blizzard regarding this, including the hotfixes they put out. So at this point, it looks really shady. Blizzard took no action during a period of high re-subbing, then banned massive amounts of players involved, but still has not publicly called it a bug. In my mind, if they don’t put it out there that they’re doing something about the bug, then they shouldn’t be banning people. If I was just playing the game and only paying attention to official Blizzard announcements and material, I wouldn’t know about this still, and that seems to be the way they’re trying to keep it, which just won’t work in the modern day. I’m really interested to see what Blizzard has to say about this, but if they don’t say anything, it looks really shady

Preach, there was a quest item in Drustvar at the beginning of the expac that you could throw and do around 10k damage each throw and it was about a 5-6 yard AOE circle that could be spammed every second or two. It had an incredible range too. This bug stayed in the game for like a WEEK. Someone I know was using this to level super fast and even using it inside of M+ dungeons to easily push keys. The item also would not AGGRO mobs when you would throw it. So if you had a group of 5 people throwing the item at a boss you could kill the boss without even aggroing it.

this exploit/bug worked exactly the same way as the bug/exploit in legion where you unstacked the potions that caused extra damage to demons while doing the mage tower people got banned for it as well . so basically easy way to tell if its an exploit if you have to unstack the items into single stacks to get multiple buffs that is NOT the intended way of use for that item.

55:10 reminds me of my horrible progression through SSC. Warlocks kept using curse of doom on hydross. We'd reset his aggro at 55 seconds (spawning 4 adds), the warlock's doom would tick and he'd go back across the line to kill them (4 adds, of which we took like 200% damage from or something like that) and then go back to the tank (4 more adds). So now we have 8 normal-strength adds and 4 high-powered adds and our tanks would quickly die. Every. Single. Time.

@Frostek Honestly the Meme Play ff14.. is overplayed, but .. try it honestly I can tell you first hand.. the story feels like it matters, the dungeons aren't automatically dead as soon as you level. You don't have to create endless amounts of toons to get all the crafting (if you like the crafting) when you finally get to end game, you know that there are players who have been through the quests.. and even if they 'power leveled' or bought their level.. they still had to do all the main quests. It actually introduces mechanics at a pace that has most players learn them without being aware of it. -It's a beast, a slog.. but in the end.. it does make it feel as if the story matters.. and that you've had an effect.. even if you do feel like the worlds pawn (like all MMO's in that way) Crafting while being something that could be slog considered still matters. What are 'legendary' weapons (relics) still mean something if you have them, and still hold respect .. as you still have to earn it, and all without rng that'd take years. --You could get your arr ones, within 2-3 months for all the arr classes you wanted. --The path to get the weapons is laid out.. if not a trail of it's own... It's not random, it's not luck based (yet it still earns respect for those who know the classes) You may not like it, but the polish is there.. and one thing to remember the aoe effects damage when they go off & if you're in the visual effect or not doesn't matter.. it matters if you where in the range when it triggered. (still something that tosses me around) Though, it helps if you also have a bit of love for FF as a series X}
