I love the little moments in Colin Farrell’s performance like 2:02 and when he nervously laughs calling Batman crazy. It’s like the penguin can’t help but respect Batman’s relentlessness but he’s also scared shitless. I don’t think I’ve seen many interpretations where the villains are so thoroughly freaked out or blindsided by Batman.

You just blew my mind, did not know that was Colin. Many people don't like this movie. I think it was good. When the car started, they turned the volume up to 11, and the whine from the turbine just jumping around the surround gave me mad chills. Best batmobile introduction ever. I just wish they did not go for a PG rating. They where going for a darker Batman, then give us the rating it deserves, show us the angry, scary and violent Bat!...

I love how monstrous the Batmobile sounds here - it sounds like a monster that has just been woken from a slumber and is growling away in the dark. The fact that this Batmobile is more intimidating as a regular car that the Nolan/Snyder/Arkham versions, which were literal tanks, speaks volumes. This film does a great job of showing why criminals are terrified of Batman, something which I felt the Nolan trilogy (as great as it was) lacked.

@lucaswilliams2292
@lucaswilliams2292 Ай бұрын
Biggest different, from what I can tell, is the lighting. The Batman is dark, but not black. The problem with shooting dark scenes these days is actually data compression algorithms from streaming; if nearby colors are too similar, then the colors get blended together. The darker the colors, the worse the compression. The Batman’s palette is more of a gloomy grey. Like when it’s overcast at night and the light pollution illuminates the clouds a little. There’s also little sources of light in each scene, like street lamps, windows, and traffic. Compare that to The Endless Night from Game of Thrones, where everything out of focus was almost pitch black. It was terrible.

@@firstlast9846 it’s more realistic to have his stuff made by someone else who has put in the years of research to do so, Bruce being a master at everything is pretty far fetched, what at base he should be is a great detective and expert martial artist and have above average engineering skills but even with all these he would still need help as to not waste his time let’s say designing his grappling hook gun.

@@Justin-tt9cz I agree. Having Batman be a master at everything could make him feel like a Gary Stu. I think him having other people around him that help him behind the scenes is much more interesting. As cool as I think this Batmobile is and how it looks like a beefed up 70s muscle car, it’s clear that it’s kind of a hodgepodge and primitive. I hope they at least keep this Batmobile as a base and he keeps upgrading it over the course of the trilogy.

What I really love about this scene is that when they all turned their attention to the sound. They’ve never heard any vehicle made such a sound in their lifetime; so you could imagine what was going through their minds. That vehicle had the engine sound capacity of a thousand roaring lions in perfect unison. Especially the screech it made before the engine started roaring; almost like the sound of many banshees.

I’m surprised a lot of people aren’t talking about how Batman is challenging Penguin in this scene. As he revs up the engine you can see Penguin getting increasingly angry at the fact that Batman is flexing on him. It’s like getting a higher grade than the smartest kid in class that can’t handle being number 2(?) Also from a narrative standpoint the the roar of the Batmobile is louder ever time the camera focuses on penguin displaying his rage at the fact he’s being outdone.

@@crabbieappleton scared is a strong word. I would say intimidated, as well as frustrated. Batman is a one man army, and although Penguin has his own army of goons, it seems like Batman always has a new trick up his sleeve. They did this scene, among so many others in this film, so amazingly perfect. There’s such a clear understanding, especially of those beginning days, of Batman and this character and what he is in represents. This Batmobile starting up scene is like watching a demon coming out of the ground. A giant demonic wolf that’s eyes are fixated on you as they intensify , with appropriate sound too, and the coming lunge . Hats off to Colin as well to perfectly react to this kind of situation with the correct amount of superstitious projection onto this scene and onto this car. Through Collins eyes you see the correct response of a criminal that is projecting onto the vehicle or a superstitious supernatural fear. It’s just so perfect. Fucking love it

Arguably one of the, if not the best Batmobile in the Batman franchise. There's a sense of realism, not too out-of-this-world vehicle. I also like Nolan's Tumbler.
