Presented in HDR [ High Dynamic Range ] 4K Ultra High Definition [ UHD ]. Uploaded with 5.1 Digital Surround Sound.
This scene should be viewed on a 4K TV with HDR For Optimal Viewing Experience
From the moment Batman starts the engine of the Batmobile to when he emerges from the flames of the wreckage, it's clear that this scene perfectly symbolizes the entirety of Batman as a superhero. He is almost inhuman in his relentlessness. Penguin quickly realizes this after thinking he's outsmarted the Dark Knight. What truly sells this sequence is how every element of the filmmaking process comes together: the acting, the score, the cinematography, and the sound design. They all work together to express Batman's immense power and unexplainable force.

The movie is …unique. I love how it focuses on making Batman the dark figure who uses fear and intimidation as tactics, while also showing the limitations of technologies in the movie: the Batmobile is a modified muscle car, the glider is more of a squirrel suit,… The other Batman films have tried to make Batman scary, but I think this Batman just shows why The Dark Knight is feared by criminals (just look at the last shot of Penguin upside down looking at Batman hovering above him coming down)

I loved this version of Batman and i think Pattinson crushed it. I like that he's dark, quiet, brilliant, aggressive and trying to figure things out as he goes. He's not the slick playboy with the fancy gear and all that. He's a man on a mission. Unsure what direction to take but he's gotta do something and makes it up as he goes. Brilliant acting, music and sound. I think it's so underrated because people want to rip on Pattinson for being a "sparkly batman" as a knock against Twilight.

I couldn't possibly agree more. I love The Dark Knight trilogy, but the fact that this take on Batman doesn't swim in fountains with supermodels or care about lavish parties but is instead an orphan out for vengeance fueled by the trauma of his past is just perfect. I think another cool take here is how Penguin is revealed to be a pretty skilled driver. When introduced he does just seem like a "gimp in an empty suit" to the point where you wonder how he rose so high up in the criminal ranks. Then you get scenes like this where its shown that he does have some useful skills, like being able to give Batman in his modded out batmobile a run for his money. Just another example of the depths written into each character. Also its funny how his driving skill seems to reflect a penguin's deceptive swimming skill. On two feet, Oz sort of waddles around but you place him in four wheels and that penguin can fly.

I love the dark theme to this film. Something I’ve noticed is, unlike other films, Batman doesn’t try to stop and save the people on the road. When everything blew up, he knew there was no hope for the civilians that were caught in that. He just continued hunting The Penguin.

I think I’m the next film he’ll act different. This movie was all about him learning he is not vengeance, but something more important. His raw aggression in this chase puts his “I am vengeance” mentality on full display. I believe a more experienced Batman would know to quietly pursue penguin, instead of this chase that caused tons of injuries and collateral damage. Time will tell!

Aside from the fact that the whole scene is extremely good, the part that is upside down is just unbelievably awesome. It almost has something of Alien³ about it. The awe-filled horror in Penguin's eyes as he suddenly realizes WHAT he's dealing with and the "Xenomorph" then leans down towards him. And with this music! This scene is gigantic. In 1989, as a nine-year-old, I saw Batman in the cinema and I was completely blown away. But THIS would have killed me back then. Keaton's Batman will always have a place in my heart, but The Batman is undisputedly the best we've ever gotten.

OK, so I'm an Industrial Mechanic, and I also dabble in rocketry and hotrodding in my free time. My interpretation of what this engine could actually be instead of just imagination, is a V8 with a gas generator powered turbocharger. You can see the SOHC cam end bearings on the rear of the cylinder head, maybe a 427 Ford, though it could aways be a Toyota, Mercedes, audi, or whatever other V8 for all I know. There are four 2-1 exhaust tips, so the Turbo isn't being driven by engine exhaust gas. And, it has more of a supercharger whistle. I'd guess that the rocket exhaust is from a turbocharger being driven by a gas generator. Rocket engines have turbopumps similar to turbochargers, there's a small internal combustion chamber before the turbopump turbine that generates enough exhaust gas to spool the turbine. So similarly, the batmobile could realistically have a turbocharger that essentially runs like a jet engine, the air it compresses is fed to a combustion chamber where fuel is burnt, and then that exhaust gas powers the exhaust turbine. You could then feed some of the compressed air before the combustion chamber back to the V8, or this larger "jet engine" Turbo could power the compressor side of a secondary Turbo to run the V8. The advantage would be a better system than either a Turbo or a supercharger. It wouldn't steal energy from the v8 like a Turbo or supercharger does, and it'd instantly be spooled up to maximum pressure at all engine speeds.

That shot at the end. The upside down bat, and then Batman peering in at the end. Amazing thing about this movie is the portrayal of Batman as almost a monster, or demon to those scared of him, ie the general public and then some. If you replace Batman in some of these scenes with an Alien xenomorph, that's exactly the effect they were going for. That final scene with Batman peering in at the penguin, with raining pouring off his cowl could be replaced with an Alien xenomorph. He's the monster in this movie.

The thing I love about this movie is how specific scenes build up his reputation of being this invincible, violent legend amongst the criminal populace. At another point in the movie you had Batman taking out a group of thugs armed with automatic weapons who had to have known they were hitting Batman with a few of those bullets. Imagine what those guys thought of Batman when they woke up later on. And then you have this scene with Batman chasing The Penguin. Penguin has to know that any normal human being (cop or not) would have been stuck behind that pile up, but then through the carnage, through the fire comes Batman flying OVER the pile up. To the criminals, they have to be thinking this guy can't be stopped, can't be beaten, can't be ran from, and this movie did a great job with establishing the reputation of Batman.

The batmobile, in my opinion, has rarely ever felt like it had its own personality, most of the time it's portrayed as a terrifying vehicle to chase after the bad guys, but in this film it felt like it's own character, like the batmobile itself was chasing Cobblepot and that Batman just happened to be along for the ride, and that gave this version of the Batmobile a more monstrous feeling. I mean I didn't think the batmobile could get scarier than the Tumbler, then we have this and it just, RULES!

3:06 to the end is my favorite moment in any batman movie. the penguin's face is a mix of fear but also pure intrigue and realization - realization that the batman is everything everyone has been hyping him up to be and more. it's as if he's thinking, "oh shit. this guy is the real fucking deal." as a crime boss, he's probably never felt intimidating or afraid by an adversary before, at least not in a while. in this moment, fear struck him. and as the batman slowly walks towards the wreckage, his calm demeanor makes him all the more frightening and makes that point a lot more clear. awesome
