One awesome thing I don’t see a lot of people mention is, since this is early in Batman’s career and we’re literally watching him meet Riddler for the first time, you literally *see* the switch in Riddler from “Batman fanboy” to “classic lifetime Batman enemy.” When he flips from freaking out to being calmly antagonistic (“I guess I gave you too much credit”), I get chills because he’s officially a villain with disdain for Batman and has slipped into classic Riddler mode. Especially when this explains WHY he's obsessed with Batman. And in the comics riddler believes he’s so much smarter than Batman, and this is perfectly showing that, the line “I guess I have you too much credit” and “you mean you didn’t figure it out?” coupled with Batman’s rejection to him shows that he no longer sees Batman as super smart, and that he’s won
@Veloziraptor1112 жыл бұрын
Funny how they both thought the other smarter than they were. Earlier in the scene Batman thinks Riddler has figured out that he's Bruce Wayne, but it turns out he was just randomly talking about Bruce. Meanwhile Riddler thinks Batman has figured out the full extent of his plan. I guess this goes to show that they deeply respect each other's mental abilities, regardless of what's happened between them.

I think the fact Paul Dano is over the top is why it’s so unnerving. Not because it’s so ridiculous and out of place (some found this scene funny) but because how relatable and real his craziness is. If you look at actual interrogations from the criminally insane and serial killers they are this unstable and weird. They don’t behave like how a normal person does, obviously otherwise they wouldn’t be classed in mentally insane. i love that Riddler here is just an unsettled person. i cant even believe that he is purely evil. im not trying to justify his actions and motives either, im just saying that his character is developed in a more interesting way here. something i like about Batman villains too is even when we think they’ve lost, they’ve won.

Pattions Batman mannerisms I notice switch between Keaton and bale when he’s calm he sounds like Keaton but when he’s angry his voice gets all deep and raspy like bale does this is just something I noticed

I love how... off the riddler is. As if he knows what you are thinking. He knows how to act while looking like it’s sort of faux. As if to act while subtly acting. As an irony acting. Acting sad... mad... confused. While making you as an observer feel... as if he has something going on while never knowing his true intentions.

@@castrodan4983 That movie was a shity mess from the beginning, it never could have been serious. I don’t blame Jim Carrey at all. And he made his character actually funny, unlike most of the jokes in that film.

This. Scene. Shook me. This didn't even feel like they were trying to make this scene serious, IT WAS THE PURE DEFINITION OF "SERIOUS". That absolute sheer range in both Pattinson and Dano is beyond what I could even compare. This felt like a Batman Graphic Novel come to life, and it certainly felt like a Batman Graphic Novel. It's Dark asf, It's atmosphere is Morbid and Gritty asf, Batman is ACTUALLY TERRIFYING, and Riddler is a fucking deranged horror Villain. THIS, is how you do a GREAT Batman Movie. This legit felt like a scene from the Batman Animated Series and a Graphic Novel. 10/10 Greatest Batman Movie Made.

When I was sat there in the theatre, this scene had me the most on edge, because of Paul Dano's peformance. The fact he was so comedic made it so unsettling to me.

Man, I love how they gave Riddler a bit of a win. At least in the sense that he did outsmart Batman. Even though he was caught and his guys failed to kill the mayor, Bruce almost failed to figure it out. Gives more of a threat for riddler

I actually really like this Riddler is more of a 'Zodiac killer' average looking type rather than dressing him in crazy green question marks and being overly cartoonish. This Riddler was more realistic, and Paul Dano was great.

I know Paul is suppose to be insane, but the whole shouting what he’s saying during the collar bomb and the “NOOOOO AAAAAHHH” and the “AVA MARIA” was just borderline Jim Carrey riddler.

that shot 1:58 is rellay great... the slow close up , the detail of dano and little of batmans back. musinc into it.. i just like it. im fan of camera creativity and here its top notch. look how dano´s head is just above the batmans shoulder and it highlights the darker tone of this moment + dano´s head in this moment captivates the thrill...

I actually really love how Robert's Batman seems caught off guard on occasion and in genuine shock by moments in the film, especially this scene. Many other Batmans are portrayed like he is ALWAYS a step ahead of the situation. This vulnerability really brings home the fact that he's just a man in a suit ultimately.
