The Penguin show already has a showrunner and is set to premiere in the second half of next year. Also, something that a lot of people are missing (could be a coincidence) is that the Riddler executes his explosions on the night of November 5, the same as V in V for Vendetta.

That's a great catch but it's also a real holiday, Guy Fawkes Night, and Guy Fawkes was part of a plot to blow up the House of Lords. So it's probably a reference to the actual event, which V for Vendetta is obviously referencing as well. I think you're definitely correct that it's intentional though.

Now obviously I know that Gotham is not exactly meant to be a vibrant city but even in previous films, there were some great visuals where everything was actually clear. The Hush Easter eggs were the first ones that really stood out to me, Edward Elliot in the movie being the father of the Thomas Elliot aka Hush is the perfect set-up for the sequel's villain. In the comics, Tommy has an intense grudge against the Waynes and that could be incorporated in the sequel as him blaming them for his father's death and plotting his revenge against Bruce Wayne.
@slade69592 жыл бұрын
I think that was just a nod to fans how Hush was such a big inspiration for this adaptation of Riddler. I think the Hush we’re getting in this universe is in a way already adapted through Riddler. Masked murder mystery with childhood ties to Bruce Wayne. You could even theorize that the reporter was actually Riddler’s father.
@rayparker42312 жыл бұрын
@@slade6959 that’s what I was thinking as well, lots of Hush elements mixed in with this Riddler and I think this will be the closest thing we get to Hush in this universe just cuz if they actually used Hush while his motives could be tweaked he’d ultimately feel like the same villain without the riddles tho.

It'll be interesting to see that just as Bruce is starting to build up his public persona in the sequel only the public to think that he's behind heinous crimes and see the city turn against him. Wait, you guys think The Riddler figured out Bruce is Batman? That's so interesting. I don't think that at all. It sets it up that Bruce believes that's what's happening which is why he says it's all going to come to an end, but then during the Arkham scene The Riddler goes on and on about how Bruce Wayne got away. Bruce is clearly nervous he's been found out, but once Riddler says that Bruce got away but they still got everyone else, you see Bruce realize his identity is safe. Which is why he then starts conversing with Edward. The Riddler doesn't think Bruce is Batman. He wouldn't have gone after Bruce if he knew he was Batman. He wants Bruce to pay for Thomas' sins. I could have read it wrong, but I don't think I did. This is the one time I'll say I'm fully right.

@filmfanaticx42122 жыл бұрын
Well, if you look at it from the hypothetical perspective that Riddler knows: He does know that there is a camera right on him, and for Riddler, the fact of him knowing Batman's identity is definitely not something he would give out lightly. He loves the thrill of the game too much. He knows it's too powerful a piece of information to just be like "Hey Gotham, Bruce is Batman. That is all." He would turn it into another game, a riddle, a puzzle for others to solve. It could be an ultimate test to those he could see worthy enough intellectually, those he could view as mental equals... But I love that the film doesn't outright tell us which one is true. They leave it just ambiguous enough for you to decide, and both options have really strong arguments...

@@nikhilsathe621 The video from New Rockstars they're watching does make the point that it wasn't until AFTER Riddler found out that Bruce wasn't around the bomb that he could've deduced that Bruce was Batman. Since Bruce has been a reclusive loner, his only major appearance being the Mayor's funeral, Riddler may have thought "If you're such a recluse, why aren't you dead from a bomb in your own home?", which could've led him down a path to figuring out who Bruce is. But as I mentioned also, the film is smart with it by leaving that scene ambiguous enough to make either option seem logical...

I think the injection was Venom not adrenaline, first off it was green, and also, venom was first introduced in a comic where Batman started taking it and became overly violent and brutal beating criminals to bloody pulps, which is what happens in the film, the fact that Batman seems hesitant to use it seems to further cement that it's venom, cuz why would he hesitate that much for an adrenaline shot, but with Venom he knew it could be dangerous, who knows, perhaps this version of Venom has something to do with the drops, perhaps similar chemical compounds.

One thing which I’m not clear on in The Batman seems to be something of a plothole, unless I’m forgetting something: In the talk between Batman and Riddler at the end, Riddler specifically wants him there because he thinks they are alike, and says they ‘would both be safe there’ from the flooding. Yet he finds the carpet map plan after this point, which doesn’t seem to line up with Riddler wanting Batman to find it, since the plan would have already been executed by that point - as it does in the movie, flooding as soon as Batman uncovers it. Riddler seems to simultaneously want him both there at Arkham, and at his apartment as the event happens, which doesn’t really make sense to me

As Riddler did the exact same thing here and seemingly deduced his identity, I feel like Reeves may employ a similar plotline where Riddler may know but intentionally hold his tongue.

I realized that the riddler is the reason why the docks and area surrounding Gotham is underwater in BvS And i think Martha medical history must also play part why Bruce Wayne is "crazy" as he is..in a way

Surprised he didn't mention the idea that the adrenaline used by Batman could've been venom (Bane's strength drug)

Definitely the best looking. Loved that awesome cowl. There were times i thought, did Robert study Clint Eastwood's Dirty Harry? This was the most plausible, realistic, Superhero movie...true art

Thank you Greg for pointing out the War for the Planet of the Apes tunnel one-shot! Both very epic films.

Their is a few things they didn’t get right nothing that would make the movie trash. But I feel the batman 2 Will be the best batman and also maybe the best comic book movie. Two things I l absolutely love bout this movie was they did not showed riddler but you hear his soft theme song playing that give’d me chills and also that Bruce Wayne intro of the batman “they think I’m hiding in the shadows, I AM THE SHADOWS”. I’m already excited for batman 2

I absolutely agree, this was the definitive live-action Batman movie imo and if it can get so close to TDK then the sequel can definitely surpass it and be the best CBM of all time.

I'm surprised they didn't mention the possibility of that green liquid actually being an early version of the Venom drug that Batman injects himself with during the final battle

9/10 🔥The Batman - A Masterpiece, Perfect, Oscar worthy movie 🔥 Watched on 11 Mar 2022 at PVR, Mangalore, India. Superlative, super hero, detective, noir movie, meant only for big screens 😊 Unique haunting BGM, super dark yet outstanding cinematography & never seen before lighting especially sunset shots over corrupted Gotham City were out of world, long slow-burn yet tight screenplay, thrilling sequences & intriguing dialogues, engaging mysterious storyline, immersive experience, realistic acting by all characters, terrifying actions & emotions, unexplainably scary moments, the nuances & symbolism, no glam-sham only raw content. Above all top-notch work from director Matt Reeves and best acting by our The Batman, Robert Pattinson. All cine buffs including directors should watch this exceptional, inspirational, brilliant case study movie 👌👌👌

The Riddler fanatic at the end that says “I’m vengeance” I too thought was that guy from the funeral BUT is actually the skeleton make-up guy from the beginning of the movie that Batman first says “I’m Vengeance” to.

they should do a movie with some plot from Batman: Prey. Hugo Strange is often forgotten despite being the first villain to find out his identity

I really wonder how expensive It was to use Nirvana in the film. And, imo, I think Kurt would have been stoked to have his works used in what seems to be an exceptional film. And it's Batman.

At 15:15 I’m surprised he didn’t link the relation between this scene and a scene from Seven. He points out that that is the riddler in the corner of the shot taking photos of the lounge. This would be the first time we see him, and then later in the movie he flat out reveals himself. I’m Seven, Kevin Spacey’s character(I don’t remember his name, I’ve never actually watched the movie I just know how it goes down) is first revealed in the movie taking photos of the crime scene, but we don’t know it’s him. He later reveals himself just like the Riddler does. I’m surprised this link wasn’t noticed

Easter Eggs I think I caught in The Batman: 1) Edward Elliott - Father of Thomas Elliott who becomes Hush which Nashton exposes about the Wayne Family 2) Salvatore Maroni - Crime Boss responsible for creating Two-Face Harvey Dent 3) Selina Kyle's look at the 44 below when she fights Carmine Falcone and his thugs connecting it to Kyle's Look at Batman: Year One 4) The Climax of the film with Batman fighting of Riddler's Lesser nobodies similar to Arkham Origins games. 5) The Point of View shot at the Mayor's mansion with Gordon captured from behind similar to War for the Planet of the Apes with Caesar. 6) Selina Kyle's entrance during certain scenes felt reminiscent to "Batman Returns" score by Danny Elfman 7) The Batman-Selina Kyle interaction with him wanting information from "The 44 below" at the Iceberg Lounge is a nice homage to Gene Hackman's film "The Conversation" with John Cazale. 8) Oswald Cobblepot's performance is based of Fredo Corleone from The Godfather Part 2 where he is trying to make a name for himself. 9) Carmine Falcone talking about how Bruce's father Thomas Wayne saving his life is a reference to The Long Halloween story when Thomas did save Carmine Falcone from a bullet wound at Wayne Mansion. 10) The introduction of first narrative with Bruce Wayne is a direct homage to Batman: Year One story as well as the DC Original animated movie with Ben McKenzie's providing the voice of Bruce Wayne/Batman. 11) During the shooting of the film you see Selina Kyle as the escort for Carmine Falcone at the Don Mitchell Jr., funeral but the final version of the film it's a different actress that plays the escort for Carmine Falcone for the funeral scene. 12) Jay Lycurgo who plays Tim Drake in DC's Titans plays the new gang member. He is great as Tim Drake in the HBO Max show. 13) The opening shot of Gotham City in the beginning of the film is based of Times Square in NYC and same goes with Gotham Square Garden a nod to Madison Square Guarden. 14) The ending sequence with Batman and Catwoman driving on their respective motorcycles is done by their doubles. One of the doubles for Batman is Rick English in this film who is also doubling for Ben Affleck in "The Flash" and "Batgirl" for HBO Max. 15) The whole chase sequence that starts at the docks is a combination of "The French Connection" with Gene Hackman and "Bullitt" with Steve McQueen. You can see the chase sequence as a point of view shot between Batman in the Batmobile and Oswald Cobblepot in his car. 16) Greig Fraser used Stage Craft technology for the overview shot of Gotham City during the scenes with Batman-Jim Gordon, Batman-Selina Kyle etc., which is the same tech he used in Disney Plus' The Mandalorian. 17) Deepcut: Frank Miller played the victim who dies at the hands of Bullseye played by Colin Farrell in the beginning of Bullseyes introduction in Daredevil where the assassin steals his bike.
