It was def a Collider issue. Hindsight being 20/20, they were going to die off eventually, but the "fart jokes" definitely sped up the death.

I been saying that for years.. Batman can be it's own universe of movies.. start of with a Batman solo movie, then bring in other Batman characters, Batgirl, Robin, Batwoman etc, do big stroies like death in the family, batman hush etc. then do one Batman Endgame movie, where we see the Bat family all together.

Jeffrey Wright being in the show as reported was something that should have mentioned. That clears a lot up with the era. It shows a lot of confidence in Reeves’ vision who just jumped from Disney to WB with his TV shows. This show would have been in the works for a while.

Creating a new character to be Batwoman is still bizarre especially with the ending of the season and Hush. Then there is the crossover next year with Superman and Lois paired with Batwoman. Recasting Kate just seemed like a better idea and an easier transition. Saying Kate is missing just seems pointless. I’ll give the first episode of the new show a shot, but it still doesn’t make sense.

I liked some of Gotham but I agree the show should have stayed the perspective of the cops into the world of Batman. So Gotham PD is the show that we should have gotten

Justin Kroll’s information on the show being set before The Batman with showing Gotham becoming corrupt and infested with criminals has killed my interest in the show. That seems pointless and it’s not Gotham Central at that point where flashes of a stunt double in a Batman suit is all you need.

Completely agree. Only reason I’m interested. Hope it’s a short run series. There are so many DC properties that have yet to be mined. This also gives me some faith that WB is loving what Matt Reeves is doing. I was worried with The Keaton news that they thought it wasn’t going to connect and was using Keaton as a back up.

I'm fine with it either way. My only real problem is that I'd rather, instead of making a new Batwoman, cancel the show, make a Vixen live action show. Or a Crimson Avenger show, Bumblebee, Rocket & ICON, or Skyrocket. ANYONE! I know why they won't cancel it, too much money is sunk into it... but now... There's no point in a Batwoman show that already had little connection to Batman to continue with even less connection. My theory is “Ryan Wilder” will be Luke Fox’s long lost half sister, or what if the reason they casted Javicia is because there will be multiple Batwomen, as a kind of homage/Easter egg to the Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman Animated Movie, & there could be multiple Batwomen(Dr. Roxanne 'Rocky' Ballantine, Sonia Alcana, or Kathy Duquesne) who take on the mantle to dish out justice/revenge...Would be nice... I'd dig it. But CW ain't that smart, but if that was the case, I’d pick the show back up

Arkam O. See, that type of thinking is a bit radical since it’s so logical. Just recast Kate instead of creating a new character where it’s easier and to be fair, a Bruce Wayne has been cast with the Hush reveal at the end. It’s bizarre to just create a new Batwoman after that. Remember, the crossover next year is Superman and Lois with Batwoman so it is even stranger. There are still Milestone rights issues which is why the digital live-action Static show for Machinima never happened years ago after it was announced. That’s the problem with doing Rocket and Icon. You are right though and it’s lazy to do it this way. Kate is a great character that can be done well, but creating a new character who is the opposite of her is desperate.

Well my SuperChat was not read on the air saying I was incredibly excited for the show and bring on a real Gotham Central. They didn’t talk about Jeffrey Wright being in it which was odd. Now let’s cast a new Renee Montoya and do the Two-Face storyline which would be great. Pattinson doesn’t need to appear and it could be a stunt double in flashes honestly.

great show!! I think it's great we getting a Gotham PD show. I don't think they going to bring up issues that's going on right now and if they do, they have to be extra careful with how they handled it. There's a police procedural show that I love watching which is Chicago P.D. am not sure if anybody is watching that show, but that show deals with corruptions etc and if they decide to change that show, people either going to understand or be very upset. I think WB needs to careful with having too many Batman shows going on right now. With the Russo brothers, they filmed the stuff they want to film and nothing going on screen without Kevin feige's say so. Everything goes through Feige and am sure they have footage that was on screen on the cutting room floor. With Snyder though, I believe the issue with him is that he doesn't seem to know how to edit his DC films properly. Did great with watchmen and MOS, but with BVS it seems like he filmed too much stuff to the point if you cut one one part of the film, the part you cut out, have to take the rest of the stuff out of the film.

Snyder has a very bad problem with over shooting and blowing through money which makes it very difficult on editors. His assembly cut of JL was 5 hours long which is insane. He was far too ambitious. It’s what caused MoS to only have a profit of $42.7 million and then BVS at $105.7 million. Shazam had a profit of $74 million and Ant-Man had a profit of $103.9 million. That’s very damning for Snyder’s films with his budgets.

@@DanV900 not a lot of people are going to agree with what we said, but it's clearly an issue with him when it comes to the comic book films, specifically the DC films. Like is there an obsession with director's cuts?? I love director's cuts, but how about putting the movie you made on screen instead of chopping it up to the point where a lot of important stuff gets cut out on the cutting room floor. the man is a very good director, I think due to the budget he gets, it allows him to go way over the top. Still don't get how Man of Steel cost over 200 million to make, that's just crazy!!. And as much as am looking forward to his cut of JL, I think that was the issue as well, went way overboard with the film to the point they brought in somebody else to take stuff out and look what ended up happening.

I’m just going to interject here and say that a movie is only as long as the script you write for it, so for the producers over there, they saw the script and had a general idea of how long it could be, and let him have at it. Lots of films are longer than what we see, you both know this, but the powers that be let him have those shots, while sometimes a thing you make just may not fit into the movie overall because you see how it works in the bigger picture, like Superman Returns wasting a 15M scene of a dead Krypton. It happens.

blackrock316 People don’t like hearing about budgets and over shooting with making it difficult to edit a film. Those are objective parts of film making compared to subjective with liking them or not. Christopher Nolan famously doesn’t watch his assembly cuts since it’s just every scene shot in chronological order where it’s done by an editor and what you see on release is his director’s cut. I’m intrigued by the idea of the Snyder Cut, but no studio would put out a 214 minute movie in a theater. That’s 3 and a half hours. He then showed a 2 and a half hour version where an hour of seemingly important footage was gone. WB did enable him and put a ton of money into the marketing budgets too. A 3 hour version of BVS doesn’t do better either where he is not a very good writer. From a studio and business standpoint, the budget for MoS didn’t make sense. Look at his filmography where his Dawn of the Dead remake and 300 were very successful. Then Watchmen, The Legends of the Guardians, and Sucker Punch all flopped. After 3 straight flops, it makes no sense to let him have a budget that large. WB should have put more of a limit on him since it forces directors and writers to be more creative. That didn’t happen on MoS, BVS, or JL where WB got involved too late on JL.

blackrock316 If Snyder is to be believed, he along with Chris Terrio wrote a new draft of JL in 17 days due to WB being so concerned after the opening weekend of BVS with reviews. He said the “really scary version” was never shot. Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t think of the JL as a really scary concept. WB should have put a stop to production on JL and taken a step back honestly especially after the record second weekend drop of BVS.

There was already a Gotham show that was on Fox. I’ve lost interest in CW show casting, they heavily cast based on color or sexuality vs casting based on the character and acting capabilities. You can tell they are more interested in catering for as many as possible vs having an outstanding cast and excellent story lines. Oh don’t try and turn a simple comment into a suggestion I have issues because of the color, that’s idiotic! There are plenty of actors & actresses of color that are absolutely outstanding! And no the goal for a show is casting based on the characters and the storytelling, or it used to be, now it’s about how many diverse people you can shove into a single show, irrespective of the characters and writing/story, THAT is where I have an issue.So why not hire a Latina or Asian actress? I thought that diversity was all the rage…but I guess diversity, multiculturalism, representation is…well black…and no one else because you know, black lives matter, white privilege, slavery, opression, systemic racism blah, blah blah…more stuff. Clearly, hiring anybody else is racist. My theory is still “Ryan Wilder”’will be Luke Fox’s long lost half sister or something to that effect. In the comics he has two sisters. Tiffany Fox, who becomes Batgirl in Futures End (Bat of The Future eh? Lol). And then there is Tamara Fox(both pictures that aren’t Batgirl) who damn well could pass for her as well. Just a theory, but it would justify keeping the core cast around and would make it a, well somewhat smoother transition. But time shall tell, what do you think?
