Great movie, very well done!! My older brother was very good friends with Carl. He told me how Carl called him, crying upon hearing of the death of his brother, Dennis, in Marina Del Rey, in 1983. My brother was a sound tech, and would set up the sound for them, at some of their concerts, and for many other well known bands, as well. Carl gave his drum set to my brother before he died in 1998. Carl was also married to Dean Martin's daughter, Gina. My friends mom, that lived two houses from me would give piano lessons to the Beach Boys in the 1960s's. Thanks for putting up this video, I really enjoyed it, it seemed like a pretty accurate portrayal, of them, and their family, and of course I really appreciate their talent, and like their music!!

I find it hard to believe that this father beat his sons, as if it was nothing...this man was mean, rude and awful. I raised two sons and I admit it was not easy at times but I never used a belt on them. The key to all that excess male energy was to keep them busy, working, studying, involved in sports and well fed. I had forgotten about the mom clothes (dresses with rounded collars and that hairs style -so typical of the era.) And that green fridge, oh my so many memories!!

Totally worth watching! You can tell that Love and Mercy (2015) borrowed from how they did some scenes in this. Very well done. The Beach Boys had such a hauntingly beautiful melodic sound that came right from Brian Wilson's soul. Mike Love's boy next door sound contrasted well with the band.

I remember when the miniseries first aired the beginning had a despondent Dennis Wilson, who had just been kicked out of the band, his wife left him, his boat was being repossessed, and he or the sheriff was throwing his things off his boat, and tried to retrieve them, but he was too drunk to come up, that was how he drowned, and then the movie flashed back to 1960. Here, they cut out the tragic beginning.

Met them when they played the venue I work at several years ago. I had a nice long chat with Bruce Johnston, and mentioned that I grew up in Redondo Beach in the ‘60’s, and then mentioned some of the local venues at the time like the Revelaire. My sisters used to go there, and then he said he knew my sisters… hahaha I also know a guy who was in the Sun Rays. Bryon Case. He said the stories are true..,,

At the start of the British Invasion during the early part of 1964 when the Beatles first set foot on American soil the Beach Boys were regarded as America's band and the Beatles Britain's band. There was a Battle of the Bands going on between the two. And not so surprisingly the Beatles inevitably won HANDS DOWN. 😂😅😮😊

Capitol marketed The Beatles much more aggressively than the Beach Boys. There even was a Beatles Saturday morning cartoon (not to mention the toys, clothes, comic books, etc.). Also, the Beatles had 2 great songwriters and George Martin as their producer; whereas Brian Wilson performed all those roles for the Beach Boys.

If it wasn't for him, the boys would still be at the Cavern Club with their old drummer Pete Best and singing the same songs until they were thirty. Ringo would probably have to get a real job if Rory Storm died from his overdose.

I gotta say this biopic on the Beach Boys was very well done from the music and the good casting..the actors closely looked very much like the real Beach Boys as they were back in the 60s and 70s ..This kinda reminded me of TV mini series Movie biopic of The Jackson's An American Dream..the way it was shot and casted well down to the showcasing of the groups popular hit songs and how the Mother here just like Katherine Jackson the mother of the Jackson's sort of held peace and support and love for the kids through the tough rough times and struggles the family endured along with holding strength amongst the family especially dealing with years of physical and mental verbal abuse by the head matriarch of the family her husband Murry is equal to how the Jackson's Father Joe Jackson was in similarities like abuse being very critical and hard to talk to with strict discipline and over controlling over music that the group did

Their Dad sounds kind of like how Col. Tom Parker was with Elvis Presley, always driving him, ordering him what to do, telling him how to sing, image, image, image. Including doing movies, and etc, building his career, even down to what doctors he would see, medications he would take, etc. I think EP died because COL Tom Parker literally drove him into the ground!! Now I see how the "Beach Boys" were created with three of them having a very pushy, maniputlative father, who hit them, was a bit over bearing, having not succeeded himself with a music career really browbeat them into success. NO wonder Brian Wilson actually met and mixed with the likes of a person like Charles Manson who had ordered the deaths of Sharon Tate and others. BW had poor boundaries, did not recognize a psychopath when he crossed paths with Manson. I could never figure that out why that happened. NOW that I see the family history, from a psychological standpoint, I totally get it. Those boys were very vulnerable. They sure had great voices, lots of talent and abilities to write music! Wow! I think between Jan and Dean and the Beach Boys, those two groups cornered the market on the genre of Beach music! Fantastic! Thanks for the movie about their lives!!

@@lisettegarcia7013 Yeah, I just realized this about 24 hours after I left my comment. I watched another documentary that was about Charles Manson--in that documentary--the incorrectly named Brian Wilson! In this Beach Boy Documentary they named: Dennis! I was quoting from the Charles Manson documentary--by mistake. I am sorry I got that wrong. I would guess that the Wilson Family would know which one of them actually met Manson!! I do not know why the Manson Documentary got it wrong! Kind of weird. I really enjoyed the Beach Boys music over the years. I was in High School when their songs were re-released. I remember collecting the singles as they were re-released, "California Girls," and such. I was born in 1962. I never knew about Jan and Dean until the movie: Dead Man's Curve came out while I was in High School. I heard their music. For me, some of my favorite music was Jan and Dean AND the Beach Boys. I might be weird, but I really liked the new stuff that Brian Wilson did which was showcased in this documentary movie. I remember collecting those 45rpm records as they were released! I played those records until I wore them out!! Drove my parents NUTS! I taught myself how to sing second and third part harmony and fourth by listening to and singing to beach boy records!!!! Thanks for the music! These days I listen via the internet/You Tube with headphones from my hosptial bed at home. I am 61 now, but doing okay.

The first half of this movie is pretty good, then the pet sounds/ Smile section gets handled really shamefully and it goes completely off the rails from there. It barely even touches on the Carl Wilson led era of the band from around 68-73… nothing about Holland or the success they enjoyed in Europe… nothing of the amazing hard rocking live act they became in the early 70s, it made the release of “endless summer” seem like a victory lap instead of the artistic death it made of them… this movie has Mike Love’s fingerprints all over it. I am glad “Love & Mercy” and the release of BWPS and The Smile sessions set some of it straight… and thank goodness they were able to pull it together one last time to end their career on a high note with the fantastic “That’s Why God Made The Radio” album in 2012, instead of that steaming pile “Summer In Paradise” album.

Hey why do you Americans refer to wot you fill up with your cars with being gas,...from the word gasoline,...where i live, its called petrol, back in the day it was called Benzene, gas here in N.Z. is for home heating & gas stoves for cooking,...can somone tell me the difference to wot your gas is being gasoline, to fill up your cars in the states is to gas in my country,...anyways, i loved The Beach Boys music - songs, ❤, sad to know that Mrs.Audrey Wilson had passed away, & Carl & Dennis too, 😮😢. Does anyone know who is still living today in 2024 of the Beach Boys, muscians, please & thankyou.❤

@@NoNO-tl8fg It's not worse now. Both my mother and father would be in jail today for things they did to me in the 60s and 70s. In 1974, when my father was beating me with the birchwood rake handle because he didn't like the way I was raking, the local police stopped and asked, "is everything alright here?" and left after my father responded "yes office." No cop would have ever left today.

great film with reality. Best to the Beach Boys...the Dad had to go...114 in he is gone and again 222 ..nice.Jewish wedding .some true love and some fake llust....and may we share the bright side in life in His truth and true love and amazing grace in forgiveness even in the tough times...do not give up either. thanks...amen once we ask Jesus' forgiveness and to be our friend, He will show us the way Psalm 23 and true family of love Isaiah 53 shows my people the way without drugs alcohol and lust and lies... and good songs of the Beach Boys......thanks

This is by far the worst adaptation of their lives. They shat all over David Marks for one, not necessary, and the fat suit on Brian was so bad, sooo hideous it was cringey!

this movie does the BB’s early years a good amount of justice, it’s only during and after the pet sounds era that this movie starts getting it wrong

That's what he gets for getting his abusive behavior from his dad, abusing his sons by destroying Brian's ear, living off of their money, and calling The Beatles "Liverpool Lunkheads". He is burning along with Allen Klein, Tom Parker, and Lou Pearlman.

Horrible movie about one of the best bands of the era. You would think they could find some better actors. None of them looked like or acted like the Beach Boys and they were all made out to be a bunch of wimps.
