I think Brain was gonna make one song for an entire album, and it would have been legendary. You made created his "SMiLE" album perfectly, never delete this plz!
@ajsvideodump2 жыл бұрын
That's just untrue. He had a lot of concepts for SMiLE thrown around but ultimately it was going to be a pop album of 12 songs. This is more of an experiment of mine rather than an attempt at making anything remotely historically accurate.

@@ajsvideodumpit’s hard to figure out where the line is. Nobody knows, not even Brian but there are so many little song and bits that are presented as songs, but were originally envisioned as different bits to Heroes And Villains, like I’m In Great Shape, Barnyard, the into to what we all know now as Fire, Gee. And it’s also intriguing what bits that eventually made it onto Heroes And Villains were actually going to be a part of a different song. For example, I don’t think Brian was going to use the chorus of this song if we were going to have the Bicycle Rider bit on Do You Like Worms since that bit sounds like a different take on the same bit.

Can you imagine if this music had been released in 1967 (in whatever configuration)? It would have rendered irrelevant whatever music was released by any artist for the next 5 years.

This will be interesting. How about doing the long version of Good Vibrations next?
@ajsvideodump2 жыл бұрын
This was a one-off and I don't think Good Vibrations has as much potential for tweaking as Heroes and Villains. Those sessions were much more concise and Brian (from my understanding) had a clearer idea of the song's structure from the very beginning and hardly strayed from it. Most I could do is include endless Wrecking Crew jams from the sessions and that wouldn't be half as interesting as this. The only reason this mix works as it does is because of the sheer modularity of H&V and SMiLE as a whole.

@@ajsvideodump Well, first of all, thanks for the compilation. It was definitely fun, but I know there was a lot of first takes and run through recordings of Good Vibrations. Years ago, Capitol Records had put out a five C.D. set of Beach Boys songs, and the fifth C.D. had quite a few interesting outtakes of Good Vibrations on it, and I thought a comprehensive mix/mash up might be interesting. There were lots of instruments used in the recording sessions that never made it on to the final release like a clarinet, and other wood wind and horn type instruments, and the "Gotta Keep Those Love Good Vibrations" part is speeded up as an instrumental with The Wrecking Crew, all of which was not used on the final version. The compilation came out in 1993 and it's called (Coincidentally) Good Vibrations 30 Years of The Beach Boys. I thought a good mix of that mixed in with the official version, and the Smile Sessions version might be neat, if not interesting, and, if done correctly, could stretch out to at least 25 minutes. But if it's too much at this time, I can understand. Your presentation of Heroes and Villains was interesting and a lot of fun. If you can find a copy of the Good Vibrations four C.D. compilation (Which might be hard since it's almost 30 years old, and has never been re-issued, as far as I know) definitely give the Good Vibrations sessions track a listen. It clocks in at about fifteen minutes, and I think is worth your time. (But I'm a fan of the song, so I'm rather opinionated)

@@nankypooh655 Huh, I didn't know that. I do have a digital copy of the Good Vibrations boxset (along with the Unsurpassed Masters bootleg), so I'll give it a listen. Thanks!
@nankypooh6552 жыл бұрын
@@ajsvideodump I definitely gotta track down the Unsurpassed Masters, but I think you might like what you hear on Good Vibrations, but I should inform you that some of the music is presented in snippets, but still very interesting and long enough to be used in a compilation project.

For the Do You Like Worms section did you layer your voice into it as well? If not, idk what you did but it fits perfectly with the older BB recordings (as opposed to straight old Brian and his backing band)
@ajsvideodump2 жыл бұрын
I'm flattered that you think that's my voice, but nope! I've had those isolated verse vocals for a while. Pretty sure they've just BWPS' vocals.
@ajsvideodump2 жыл бұрын
I compared the two and yeah no I genuinely have zero clue where those vocals came from.

What happened to copyright challenges? I’m usually for the little guy but this is just a steal
@ajsvideodump Жыл бұрын
I actually did receive one copyright notification when I uploaded this video but I successfully repealed it. The work is transformative because it's a rearrangement of the original material that doesn't substitute listening to the original material in its "intended form". Nobody who wants to just listen to Heroes and Villains is going to come here to listen to it. People come to this video for my personal creative reinterpretation of the material. Hope that clears things up!
