Yeah, Shawn, your favorite spot was a capella, all the instruments dropped and you just heard those gorgeous harmonies per Brian’s arrangement.

My favorite BB song. The harmonies are just fantastic, and I love the folky story underlaying it.

The Beach Boys always bring me back to early high school days and summer vacation. We did all wish we could be California girls, lol. Great pick to listen to multiple times. Blessings all.

Another thing that's happening in your favorite part is that the music drops out and the voices are singing a capella---always a special treat to hear the Beach Boys' harmonizing a capella! A couple of their other songs feature this gimmick (Barbara Ann, I Get Around, etc)

This has remained a nautical/folk staple for decades. SAIL ON, SAILOR is another nautical hit they had. BTW, it's pronounced NasSAW, Bahamas, not NasSOW. Try Tommy James' DRAGGIN' THE LINE (minus any of The Shondells), Tommy did all the vocals and instruments - the song was relative to us working as crew on a tug boat, trawler, etc.
@armandogarza61814 ай бұрын
The video took away from the song here IMO, but that's ok, they might of had fun doing that. The arrangements and the harmonies were top notch...well, it was Brian, mainly. Their discography is impressive.

Not a big Beach Boys fan, but this one with God only knows, are great 60s pop. I see from the video that they have been influenced by the Beatles. and the Monkees, to do some fooling around. Not seen that video before. If you want another hit with a maritime theme, try Home loving man by Andy Williams. It's about 5 years after this one, in the early 70s.

This video doesn't fit with the seriousness of the song. I don't think was the beach Boys doing, but a fan or something. There isn't anything funny about this song, so that's why this video of them doesn't fit with this particular song.
