The Beatles performing “Can't Buy Me Love.”
‘Can’t Buy Me Love’ entered the UK singles’ chart at No.8 and the following week it knocked ‘Little Children‘ by Billy J. Kramer with the Dakotas from the top spot, staying there for the next three weeks.
Work on the Rediffusion Television special in the UK, Around The Beatles took place while the Beatles were also filming A Hard Day’s Night, which rather aptly summed up the band’s lifestyle at this point. The show’s title dictated the creative angle for the programme in that The Beatles were filmed ‘in the round’. The producer was 32-year-old Jack Good, an innovator of TV pop shows for teenagers.
Not only was Around The Beatles to be filmed in front of a live audience, but the shoot would also be fairly complex, so it was decided that the band would mime to tracks that had been pre-recorded at IBC Studios in London.

So totally love everything about this clip. The way John, Paul, and George are facing Ringo, the overhead shots, the crowds reaction, some trying to keep the beat, others realizing they're on camera and reacting, John looking nervous but pushing through... The other realization is that this song, like everything else they wrote was so advanced for its time (and now even more so), but its brilliance appears lost on the crowd and the producer's need to showcase the "Beatlemania" of the frenzied fans.

This certainly takes me back I was 8 years old when I 1st saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show in February of 1964. I never forget when my Grandfather called all of us to go to his room. He was the only one that would watch Ed Sullivan Show every Sunday evening. He told all of us to come quick, because there's these guys singing with long hair and they look like girls. We didn't know what was happening because even the music was strange. The British Invasion of Mop Top groups had begun. Many Rock Historians have said when the Beatles came to America. That's when the 1960's actually begun the decade of change. Before 1964 people were still living in the 1950's but now music and lifestyles would be changing.

This is the song that carved rock music in my heart and soul. When I was 5-6 years old, I learned to operate the turntable, and I was always going for the Beatles record. When this song was playing I was going insane, running through the corridor, climbing up the couch and jumping down, rolling on the floor. Years later I became a metalhead, I was moshing, stage-diving, headbanging in a very similar way to the times I was listening to this song when I was a child. Now I'm 46 years old, music is still my strongest connection to life, and I think I owe it all to The Beatles.

Man am I the only kid who just loves this? it’s hard to express, the Beatles just sound so good I’ve never met any 14 year old who actually shares my love for not only the Beatles but classic rock as a genre it’s just some of the best music I’ve ever heard especially the Beatles I hav to say probably my all time favorite band.

My class mates all thought I was weird. Liking the Beatles was definitely not cool back then. Now that I'm older, I know that new Beatles fans are born every day. So, no you're certainly not the only one, Nicholas, although sometimes it can feel that way when you're a kid.

I was around 6 when this came out. I absorbed the atmosphere of the song by osmosis. The same feeling is still there on listening to the sheer excitement generated. They were the zenith.
