That's cool you guys got to experience that and as a Beatles nut since I was eleven years old and never got to see any of those shows I just want to say "rub it in why don't ya?!" Those are great memories though from shows like that, and though I never saw any of "the boys" live I did go to my fair share of great concerts in the '80's and '90's and had a very similar experience when I saw Peter Gabriel at The Spectrum in south Philly in '87 and he ended the show with "Biko" and at the end when Peter raises his fist and yells "Hah...hah...ho!" over and over there were 20,000 of us raising our fists and screaming along with him for what seemed like forever. It was pretty powerful and something that still gives me chills and it's really amazing that the entire concert from that night is on here; can't believe it was that long ago.

When they were recording this song in the studio, and Paul had the "Na na na na na na naaaaaa" outtro, their producer George Martin was concerned. Commercial pop radio wanted songs around 3 minutes. He told Paul "pop songs don't last 7 minutes". Paul simply told him "this one does". As explained before, it was written for John Lennon's son Julian to show him love while his parents (John and Cynthia) were breaking up. Paul had it "Hey Jules". Then he thought that sounded like a mouth full of marbles. So he cleaned it up. Hey Jude.

As has been mentioned, Paul wrote this for John;s son Julian, aka "Jules" when his parents (his mom is John;s fisrt wife Cynthia) were going through the divorce. Paul knew it wasn't going to be an esay thing for the wee lad and wanted to give him some encouragement. Paul said later that "Jules" wasn't very easy to sing and be understood correctly. It came out sounding loke "Jude" on the tapes so he just decided to change it to to "Hey Jude" for the finished work. We could tell it was an older video 'cause you;re not wearing your cool new "kitty cat ears" headphones.

I grew up as a toddler with this stuff, my mom was a waitress and worked till 2am, didn't get done till almost 3am with cleanup of the restaurant. So I basically hung out with this guy named Bob which I consider a Dad at this point, we would stay up listening to Johhny Cash, The Beatles, He would drink beer and wine, we would just dance to all kinds of stuff every night. We were like the oddest best friends ever for years. But I love this stuff, Jerry Lee, Kenny Rogers you name it. We would spend like 9 hours sometimes just jamming out to songs. Sure I should have been asleep but we would be dancing in the kitchen and singing through an amp along with Elton and all these guys. I miss those days.

I sang this song for years as a kid after it came out in 1968, never again was there a song which so truely incarnated the positive uplifting collective vibes of the end of the sixties. This one and let it be.

That was David Frost and his band and his audience that went and visited The Beatles at twickingham studios. The Little ditty that the Beatles performed in the beginning was the theme song to his show.

I love the part near the end during the "nananana's when you get that look on your face that all Beatle fans know, which is "ok, l can listen to this go on forever". Personally I like to think that every second of every day that is playing somewhere on Earth, and perhaps it has been traveling through the universe for 54 years. I am so happy you enjoyed that, my dear. 💕

If you were going to pick a song as an introduction to The Beatles, you couldn't have picked a better one than this one. It's an AMAZING song, and they are still the greatest band of all time.

Jayy, glad you were watching the video of this performance. Interesting how this live song sounds so very much like their awesome '68 single studio release. Tell me this Jayy, I can't see the video of them (I know it well), but I'll bet your expression @ 7:37 is the old guy with the flowers in his hair grooving out to this song. Could be wrong, but I always see that expression at that point! LOL! Anyway, do more Beatles dear. It's a little tough to keep them from being blocked as many reactors complain about. Try pausing in the middle briefly to comment, move it back a few seconds, start again and that may do the trick. It seems to work on other Beatles reactors. Awesome song and reaction as always! ✌️😎

@@THEJAYYSHOW No problem. One thing to point out about this song being about, or for John's son Julian that many are telling you. That's only half the story. Paul initially wrote it for Julian over the divorce thing with John and Cynthia, and called it "Hey Jules". Paul later re-wrote it to be more an adult theme and renamed it Hey Jude. John Lennon mentioned this in a video interview and said that he thought the re-write called Hey Jude was more about him meeting Yoko Ono and leaving Cynthia. So yes, it did start out as a song for the young 5 year Julian, but changed into what it is today. In my research I tried to find copies of the first draft of "Hey Jules" and it appears they don't exist, but more likely Paul tucked them away somewhere, so perhaps one day the world can see the changes made from Hey Jules to Hey Jude. BTW, was it the old guy with the flowers in his hair that made you smile? 😁

Great story behind this song and the recording on the video ( like that old man with the flowers in his hair was a homeless veteran they found outside the studio that evening they invited him in to watch and and feed him and gave him free drinks)

@@johnkayak5488 well my story came from the anthology documentary, the small faces ring a bell , but the Beatles cant be the only guys who cared about veterans or the homeless.
