I don't know how or where he heard this song, buy it stuck with him. I don't even know if he understood what it was that was being said, but he would sing it ever now and then out of the blue he'd start singing "etta see, etta see" and we were all wondering where or what he was sing til he told use this was the song that he got it from n he told us he loved it. So when my Father passed away on 2004 we has this played at his funeral n this song always gets us when we hear it played. I lost my mom when I was 33. I had put off moving out of her place for several years because she needed someone there to help her. As a result, I was existing in a state of arrested development, not really having to pay rent or the bills that most adults do. Then, she passed after just a month of being sick. Then, my dad died suddenly of a heart attack 18 months later, just as I was getting to know him. Three years later, my maternal grandma passed, at 95, from a stroke. I used to never take life very seriously, but now I see and interpret everything through the lense of someone who has gone through so much loss. Certain songs, movies, etc. take on such a different meaning because of my life experiences. Sometimes I also react to songs the same way that you did. And it's no big deal; it's just a sign of our growth and humanity.

Amen Jesse. The Beatles are my all-time favorite band. I am a musician and when i evolved as a player and as my playing became more intricate my ears became tuned differently as well. By that I mean I started listening to bass lines in songs way more and when I started really listening and hearing McCartney's bass playing I was addicted and that's what really changed my playing forever. It's hard to explain to people why they are really considered "The #1 Band of all-time" Etc..) Because its not just because of their songs. They were the 1st band to put " Liner Notes " in the album, so people wcould read the lyrics while they listen. They were the 1st band to ever do " Backwards Masking ", recording vocals and instruments and then adding it to the recording backwards. They were the 1st band to ever make " Music Videos " then using the videos as pieces of promotion and sending them to stations all over so the world could see them. They fully relied on this when they decided to stop touring in 1966-67... This list goes on and on. The McCartney/Lennon writing team is definitely and will definitely be recognized as the best forever and if those who ask why can't ever see what everyone else is talking about when we discuss the genius that is The Beatles then those people were born with an unfortunate disability, For sure. haha...Take care Jesse! Fun fact which you might already know: George did two lead breaks for this song, well three if you include the take which featured in the film (which was a different take to the one that made the album). The two lead breaks were recorded roughly 16 months apart and the version we heard here in this video is officially the last ever bit of audio recorded for a Beatles record, laid down in April 1970. George used a rosewood Telecaster in the softer original version, and his lovely 57 Les Paul 'Lucy' in the hard core version.

They went and were in a wreck and the girl died. Paul said he was struggling over an issue in his life and his deceased Mother (Mary) came to him in a dream and said Let It Be. The only other song he wrote that said came from a dream was Yesterday. Claimed he woke up and the whole melody was in his head. He asked everyone what song it was as he was sure he’d heard it.

This is actually the first album I ever bought. The album jacket opened like a book and inside it were 4 separate pictures like the pictures on the album cover. I must have listened to that album 500 times, this music never gets old.

Me too Bro. It's the first album I ever bought. I still love it. About 15 years ago they released a version without the Specter Wall of Sound background. It was much anticipated but it cannot compete with the original

Paul wasn't yet 30 when he wrote this. Music & relevance have no time restrictions....... ..music will always touch your spirit if you find it fits your circumstance. So often it will lift your sadness.

Brother, if you EVER apologise for getting emotional to something like this again, we're all going to have to give you a slap. Music like this speaks to the soul. You are meant to get emotional. Now give us a hug, James.

I heard it said - "Big boys don't cry. Men do." Your journey is continuing. My 34 year old son cries with me (his dad passed away when my son was 15), and he is still the strongest man I know, and has the biggest heart.

You will remember your grandmother everytime you hear this song. There are millions of people who this song mean so much to them. Only the Beatles music can do that

My man Rome, this is a straight out beautiful song. I have listened to it for 60 years, and it still makes me tear up. It is also a recognition from Paul for the end of the Beatles , so it is especially poignant.

My dad was Tom Cartwright, but he died in 2017 so you can't be him! Anyway, 60 years is a stretch, maybe 51 years! Cheers, John
@tomcartwright71343 жыл бұрын
@@jcartwrt yes. I stand corrected. In my haste to respond to Rome, I got the years off. Your estimate of 51 years is a better timeline. My condolences for the loss of your father. My parents died in 1997 within 10 weeks of each other. It was devastating. Can I presume you are a Beatles fan? I live in the US. Are you in the UK?

@@tomcartwright7134 I live near Vancouver, British Columbia. Yes I like the Beatles, but I like lots of 60's groups of course (I'm 68 so was a teen during that time). Sorry about your parents. It's always tough losing them and I have constant reminders of mine since they had so many possessions, many of which are now in our house.

@@jcartwrt thanks for your kind words. I am a huge fan of music from the sixties and seventies. I don’t encounter many folks with our last name, therefore my curiosity. I’m 68 years old and grew up in Washington DC. I wonder if we are connected by family someway.

Paul was inspired to write this song when his deceased mother, Mary came to him in a dream when he was feeling despair and all she said to him was Let it Be. I love that story.

So glad you had such a deep emotional connection. The Beatles reach everyone at some point. Side note: It was so cool when you got up...you walked straight between them, like a curtain!

I live 6000 miles away from the country that I have called home for over 70 years. My mother was also called Mary & would have been 98 this year. Yeah I get homesick but listening to Let It Be somehow calms my inner soul and then I don't feel so bad. 🙏

I'm 60 years old and this is the first album I every bought. I was 9 at the time and this song even affected me then. As the years have gone by there have been more and more people and things that help me relate to this song. I love the song and, yes, it makes me cry almost every time. Keep your grandmother in your heart and music like this will help keep her memory alive always.

When you put up that pic of your Grandma the tears started. Im 55 and have heard this song for almost 50 years. My Grandmother is the reason I never gave up. She taught me about love and honestly one of few that treated me like blood (adopted) and even now as I find myself alone with my dogs and trying to deal with diagnosis I received recently as heart failure stage 2. This song means as much now as It did then. Beautiful tribute and you Grandmother taught me a phrase I’ll remember on my darkest day, “Keep the Faith and Pray” God bless her and she looked like a incredible woman🙏👍
