The Beatles Scotland Tour
#thebeatles #mullofkintyre
I take a road trip to visit some of the locations that are linked to the Beatles (The Fab Four). From their touring days to their family and home connections. Of course I run out of time but just being there was amazing fun.

Great video. The wee cottage on Saddell Beach is primarily used as a "beach hut' for the huge manor house that sits just off the beach. We had visited twice before I finally realised that the cottage was situated where it was - given that it's hidden at the very far end of the beach. You were also very close to the front cover location of the M.O.K. single when you were on the main street in Campbeltown. Davaar island is a short 5 minute drive away.

If you watch the Live In New York concert, when the camera is on John's left, you can see a scar under John's chin. If you look at the photos from the time of the crash, he has a beard, but in the hospital he is clean shaven.

One of the few good things about Scotland (of course I'm joking, there are many) is that there are no trespassing laws. Thanks for the great Beatles tours. It was interesting John and Paul's reaction to the Beatles splitting up. One went urban and one went rural.

Hi Tudor… have to congratulate you on this masterpiece and also thank you for your efforts… “far did you travel ! “….. for me it was a very emotional watch. I have always wanted to see and know more regarding this location and boy did you deliver…. The bonus for me was the info on John in Durness. I didn’t know any of this and the bright rainbow 🌈 behind the house while giving us John info was magical. One point I did notice is the cottage in Kintyre looks as if it’s had alterations since the original film… real shame, I wonder if the owners now regret altering it…… Thank you once again Tudor…

Great research Tudor. I've watched and commented on Craigs videos on both his channels, Craig Duncan and Fludded. The little building on the Kintyre video has been altered since the video was filmed, i found that little fact fascinating, for some reason. The lean to was removed. I think Shakin Stevens took the Green Door.

Hi Tudor, I really like this channel, especially the Beatle-related locations, etc.... Filming locations as well. Hope you can get back to Scotland eventually and squeeze in the 1960 Johnny Gentle tour locations. I have a few suggestions for possible future videos. I don't think you have been to Chiswick House yet? Unless I missed it. The other suggestion I think would be really cool would be a video or two on some filming locations for The Avengers, specifically the Diana Rigg episodes.(Ok, maybe a few Linda Thorson ones lol) But there were some exterior locations they used for sure, especially from the 67' season episodes. I don't know if any of these locations are known or documented, or if they are accessible or private, but that would be some cool videos for sure I think if you can find the locations!

Cheers. I've definitely got a Johnny Gentle video on the cards. If I can't get back up to Scotland soon then I'll have to do it at my desk. you can't beat an "on location" video though in my opinion...and I seem to be getting a name for myself for doing them 🤣 I was never into the Avengers and know very little about the series other than Steed, and Diana Rigg or Joanna Lumney being his side kicks. I think I'd be a bad commentator for such videos!!!

Fascinating as ever Tudor. I particularly enjoyed the section on John's connection to Durness. I believe it was his Aunt "Mater" (Elizabeth Jane) who had moved up there. Incidentally, a small correction, when he stopped off in Liverpool it was to visit his Aunt "Harrie" (Harriet), not his step sister. In fact, it seems to be the case that this stop off was probably the last time John was ever in Liverpool.

Loved this Tudor! I went around Scotland (mainly Ayr and around that area) just prior to moving to Norway in 2008. Loved the scarcity of traffic on those country roads... would love to go back one day and just spend time going from town to town... would have loved to have reached Kintyre and that whole area. By the way Mull of Kintyre was my nans favourite song and played at her funeral... she was 51 in 1977 and managed to live to 95. Amazing that Paul could write songs to appeal to all generations...

Such a shame you didn't make it to the North East for Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Moray but come on by sometime, it's more compact than your road trip here. Imagine The Beatles coming up in 1960 in a van on those older roads before the upgrades to dual carriageway etc! The A9 has been transformed beyond recognition even since I started driving in the late 80s. The Berrydale Braes were notorious but now there's a flyover. Amazing how John was driving an Austin Maxi on his trip to Durness. I'm sure he'd have travelled up the A9. But. yeah he was blind as a bat, so it'd been a ropey road trip. He crashed the car on a day trip to Tongue some 30-miles from the Durness croft. Spot on about Double Fantasy/Milk and Honey being a better single album with John's songs. And lastly thanks for mentioning Albert Bonici from here in Elgin, Moray who promoted The Beatles first tour of 1963 and other shows in late 1963 and early 1964.
