I love that the movie ends with Shaggy saying he’ll be ok while still acknowledging that he’s going to need some time to get over his broken heart. Shaggy getting to feel his emotions without being laughed at sets a good example for kids and you don’t see things like that often enough.

Considering how MI played with canon, I wouldn't be surprised if they were introduced in an aliens-centric episode, were teased to be the real aliens, and then it turns out they were just completely normal people who are never seen again (or, at best, are beamed into the mothership in the last 10 seconds of the episode when nobody else is looking)

Another detail I appreciated as a kid: Crystal and Amber are trying to blend in with Earth culture, but because they were so many light years away, the intel they got from Earth was decades old, which is why Crystal dresses and talks like a hippie from the 1960s.

Same. And recently I just learned that Mark Hamill voiced one of the villains of Alien invaders (he was Steve to just for the record). It's honestly funny when you look at how commonly Mark Hamill has appeared throughout the various incarnations of the franchise. The New Scooby-Doo Movies What's New, Scooby-Doo? Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island Scooby-Doo and the Alien Invaders Scooby-Doo! Camp Scare Scooby-Doo! Moon Monster Madness He's been in so many of them that it's amazing! And he's been involved in the franchise since the 70's! He's been appearing in Scooby-Doo media for nearly half a century!

It explains why Daphne is so insisant on finding real monsters in Zombie Island. She and Shaggy are the ones who went through the 13 ghosts but she has no proof. She can't act like sh'es really scared of things around Fred/Velma because they both think it's all fake. But Daphne is way more understanding of caredy cat Shaggy/Scooby after Zombie Island. Seems like she's cutting them some slack The zombies/Cat people is all because of a cat God. So what else is that Cat god doing around the world? They should have had the Cat God working with the 13th Ghost.

I’ve always adored the “Groovy” musical sequence, probably my favorite piece of animation in the whole series. Mook Animation really did a fantastic job with these films, especially the first three. It’s sad that this was the last piece of Scooby media to be done with traditional cels as I don’t think the series has ever looked quite as good since then. edit: After doing some research it seems the animator responsible was Koji Nanke, although this is just a presumption. He specialized in opening and ending theme animation and is remembered for his work on classic anime series like Gatchaman, Ranma 1/2 and Urusei Yatsura. Yatsura in particular is interesting because that’s a show about a normal dorky guy dating a cute alien. Sound familiar? Maybe that’s what drew Nanke to Alien Invaders.

This is actually perhaps my favorite. I enjoyed both Zombie Island and Witch's Ghost for the 'monsters and magic are real' elements (I love both scenarios where 'monsters are fake' and 'monsters are real' in the saga) but there is just something pure and wholesome for having Crystal and Amber being the 'real monsters' yet never being evil or wicked.
@tommyl.dayandtherunaways820
@tommyl.dayandtherunaways820 2 ай бұрын
It was a smart subversion of the new formula. Three consecutive movies with evil monsters would’ve caused the novelty of the movies to start to wear off, so they flipped it around and had the monsters be the good guys (and the love interests to the two characters who are most terrified of monsters, which allowed them to undergo character development and learn to overcome their fear). Genius writing right there.

A note on Crystal: her human guise resembles someone of North American Indigenous descent (the fan wiki just says "tan", but I think her design was more intentional than that). Anyways, love this film and Crystal and Amber were a great addition!

Alien Invaders is my favourite of the 4 Mook Studios animated films. I disagree on thinking the villains weren't interesting just based on how gleeful they are, and seemingly all on board with murdering together. They've honestly got a stronger friendship than the Mystery Inc Gang in this. As for later animated movies outside these 4, the most recent Trick or Treat (The one that got headlines for Velma having a girl crush) was super great, would love to see you review it

I have to admit, that romance in this has always stuck with me. It started out cute and innocent, then ended on such a sad and bittersweet note. It kind of gave me a strange feeling. I think it was one of the first times I was given the notion that not everything will go the way you want it to go. There are some things you can't change, and you will just have to live with it. I didn't think Scooby Doo and The Alien Invaders of all things would give me that feeling, but it did and I appreciate that.

I've got to say while I'm putting these classics in a separate category...Scooby Doo Camp Scare is my favorite. It's a very good mystery that actually gave me the creeps. The very beginning of the movie gave me such creepy vibes and feels as an introduction to the movie. I truly felt like the gang was in mortal danger like on the level of Mystery Incorporated. To top it off the camp stories in the special features use to really creep me out LOL. The history of the setting of the movie with how it's linked to certain villainous characters was done well in my opinion. Like never thought I'd see a gangsta in a Scooby Doo movie firing off bullets.😂

GOD FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE as someone who's watched almost just about every piece of Scooby Doo media I could access growing up and has been rewatching a bunch of it lately, Camp Scare has always also been my absolute favorite and still is to this day. There's just something about it's overall vibe and atmosphere that feels unique compared to most Scooby Doo films especially out of the all the much more modern ones imo. I just adore the setting of the two camps themselves and the designs and ideas behind all the camp legend monsters. Not to mention all the action and suspenseful scenes are such a treat to watch. When they were in the boat and crashed into the cafeteria of the bigger camp, when they were in the canyon with the hitchhiker ghost, when Scooby was driving the van as the dam exploded and burst, when they were actually in the abandoned city when all the water was gone and the woods man was there- like holy shit the setting and atmosphere were so amazingly crafted. Not to mention I personally thought the pacing of the film was great where it felt decently long. I could go on but I really don't see enough other people talk about Camp Scare so much specifically as I'd wish lmao it makes me wish we'd get more Scooby movies with similar vibes and feel to it so much.

Been on a nostalgia trip with Scooby Doo as of late and ngl, Alien Invaders really does hit the nerves now, Crystal and Amber were definitely Shaggy and Scooby's definitive love interests IMO. Would love for them to reunite in some way though Warner Bros would probably fuck it up royally

I have also grown a new found appreciation with this film over time, I hated it as a kid, all because the ending absolutely broke me, and I do hope that Crystal and Amber will appear again one day

I don’t care if she was an alien lol shaggy & crystal were absolute fucking perfection. Like most times whenever a long running franchise makes a new character for the specific reason to be a love interest usually aren’t the best characters, but crystal was great. If she would have just been a human, her & shaggy would have been end goals. Was genuinely so happy for shaggy the first time I saw this movie. He clearly liked her but she liked him back as well, they did our boy shaggy dirty

So I have watched the Negative 10 rewrite and it got me thinking about Scooby Doo Monsters Unleashed, the real aliens not being the villains would have been predictable but at least they have creative designs.

Yeah, but the Shaggy, Scooby, and Scrappy movies are their own thing. Monsters being real are just accepted as fact in those. There’s rarely a time when a character will stop and think “Monsters aren’t real. That’s just someone in a costume.” These 4 movies operated off of classic “Scooby Doo, Where are You?” logic where monsters were supposed to be guys in masks. Also, there’s a theory that all the “monsters” and “ghosts” in the Scrappy movies are just guys in masks as well. They’re just portrayed as being real since Velma, Fred, and Daphne (the rational characters) aren’t there, and we’re seeing the movie from the perspective of Shaggy, Scooby, and Scrappy, who instantly believe that all monsters are real (Shaggy and Scooby bc they’re cowards, and Scrappy bc he’s young and naive).

I always identified a lot with Shaggy when I was a boy (shaggy haired, goofy, always hungry, loved my dog, easily frightened) and his sweet, pure relationship with a space-alien hippie may have set my expectations for future romance too high. I DID briefly date a space-alien hippie but I fumbled that pretty hard.

Not having the happy ending is a good thing. In that way, it will become like a fairy tale. That's why Samurai Jack Season 5 is a masterpiece because it did not end happily ever after.

This film was always my 2nd favourite after Zombie Island as a kid, revisiting it hasn’t replaced it and it has a lot to do with how Witch’s Ghost ends on a dance party. As for monsters being in the gang’s side this was actually first done on Zombie Island where the titular zombies were trying to warn and protect the heroes the whole time. Great vid!

This is a good Scooby Do movie with a range I didn't expect. Shaggy's adventure in love was overdue and sadly tragic. She was only temporary. And Shaggy grows as a result. He has an emotional journey that you usually don't see on a "kids" movie.

Great video, friend! I remember when I first watched Scooby-doo. It was in 2000 in Nigeria when I was 8. My dad bought me a VHS of the original 60s version with the episode of the black knight and I instantly fell in love with the show🤩🤩 It even led to me becoming a fan of mystery genre and I went on to discover other stuff like Sherlock Holmes, Miss Mallard Mysteries and any other mystery-them media. The movies were also amazing and I always looked forward to their premier on Cartoon Network. The first one I watched was Scooby-doo on Zombie island. I never had a chance to watch the Alien Invaders but now I want to!

It would be cool if they went to Crystal and Amber's home planet someday! It would be strange for a Scooby Doo film, but then again the Kiss crossover movie exists. I too would like to see these two again and am curious about where they're from! Trying to solve a mystery on an unfamiliar planet would be a challenge. They could do some really creative stuff with it.
