Cyber Chase is the Scooby Doo movie I think would be amazing if they revisited it today as a theatrical movie. The levels being different settings in their respected art styles from the 53 years worth of shows and movies (such as Coolsville from a pup named Scooby-Doo and Crystal Cove from Mystery Inc.) . And the monsters are one that we have unmasked before and at first they try to capture them the same way they did last time but it doesn't work this time or at-least one of the monster needs to be captured differently to progress in the game. Add different Scooby Doo gangs in their art styles and have them mix and match with each other gangs. If possible they could bring back the original live action gang idk why but I think that would be amazing to see. Other than the 4 original straight to home movie what Scooby Doo home movie is your favorite?

As a kid this also was my favorite out of the first four direct to video movies. It also didn't hold up as much for me either, although I still like it, and Zombie Island is my favorite now. I really liked all the classic monsters that show up to chase them, and the digital Scooby gang with their old outfits. I especially like how digital Shaggy is wearing his red shirt and blue jeans from the 80's era of Scooby-doo.
@sissysovereign12942 жыл бұрын

Oh, is that why! Ngl, that bothered me as a kid, I was like: "They had the clever idea of giving the digital versions the original costumes and art style, but for Shaggy they just... give him a completely different outfit?" I completely forgot about his cringey red-shirt era!

I'm surprised that Cyberchase was your favorite of these films, at least before the rewatch. For me Zombie Island was the best of the 4 "The Monsters are Real" Scooby-Doo films. It genuinely scared me as a kid, and I can't say that about any of the other films. I think it helps that it also had an overall darker color palette than Cyberchase. It probably also helps that I love "It's Terror Time Again." Meanwhile Cyberchase just didn't scare me at all as a kid. The design of the villain wasn't scary or creepy at all, the really bright, arguably over so, colors made it a lot harder to be scared imo, and I was way more fascinated by the gang meeting up with their in-game counterparts and also by the idea of a Scooby-Doo video game(look I was 5 in 01, I wasn't very aware of what video games existed). As for the rewrite you proposed, I do like the idea of having all 10 levels being about past villains, but I do wonder if that might have gotten old towards the end. Maybe you could chop the number of levels down considering the movie needed a montage of several levels. Maybe doing 5 levels where you get a new Mystery Gang member each level to help change up the comedic dynamic a bit could work.

@kateorgera59072 жыл бұрын
The interesting thing about your rewrite is, Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed used a very similar concept - by having the costumes of their previous villains come to life , the gang had to revisit their past and defeat them again. The only thing missing is the video game aspects and the gang meeting themselves. If Cyber Chase had gone that route, Scooby Doo 2 would look VERY different, I'd imagine. Also, I would argue the problem was corporate bureaucracy more than capitalism or nepotism, since the higher ups imposed their will on the team and used someone who was already on staff. Not saying the two are unrelated in this case, but it's more directly a bureaucracy problem.

I just simply liked it because it was apart of the movie collection that last used those animation style, but now I see what you're getting at and I agree. Now I do remember not being too satisfied with the level skips. Witch's Ghost and Zombie Island were my favorites. I liked how in Zombie Island it shows how they all moved on in life. Daphne was a breath of fresh air with her having the most character development from the damsel in distress. With Witch's Ghost I like how Thorn is actually 1/16th wiccan which was a nice twist. Also how many witches are actually wiccans were persecuted falsely, but the wiccan was actually a witch the entire time. Both of those films had an extra layer of complexity in their story in my opinion. Now though those are my favorite, Alien Invaders are in their own category. It was more so emotional for me. I don't think I've seen a love story such as this in the Scooby Doo franchise up until that point. The fact they were aliens made it even more so like drama. Love interests literally worlds apart. I was hoping maybe Scooby and Shaggy got to see them again at least one more time, in another film possibly. (Hey they did a sequel to Zombie Island, but we don't talk about that.)

Biggest thing was for a game about Scooby Doo's history, it really fell flat. Why are the levels (Minus maybe the last one) just such generic locations? Would've been cooler if each level was designed around iconic Scooby Doo cases and locations with a fitting ghost to each one rather than stuffing the fan service all at the last level. Also they made the reveal way WAY too obvious even by Scooby Doo standards. Would've been an effective twist if the other scientist was behind it and framed the baseball guy with his overt love of sports as tips to try to frame him.

To be fair, most kid’s adventure games in the late 90’s and early 00’s had “themed” level designs that had nothing to do with the overall premise that the game was based on. I’m thinking of games like Spyro or Crash Bandicoot (since those are what I was playing at the time this movie was released). They both have Dinosaur, Samurai, and Arctic levels in one or all of their games even though those themes have nothing to do with a magical purple dragon or a “Bandicoot” that’s from some tropical Pacific-espue island.

7:57 your listing of the iconic villains just reminds me how much those villains were intrinsic to the franchise. I have also been a lifelong Scooby Doo fan. I don't remember watching Cyber Chase, but I also somehow do, so I must have at least seen it in passing. I think that it would have been great to revisit the enemies of their past, but I think that it would have been interesting if they started by trying to solve the first case the way they originally did and it didn't work. They then realize that each case (level) can only be solved after they find the levels Scooby Snacks as those are the game's key items. And maybe the details of each level are completely wrong for what it was like in the game. It would also be funny if they used the old door gag as a game mechanic. You enter a door and when you exit, it is a different door.

This movie was my favorite as a kid (I probably found it the least scariest). Recently, I had watched it on Cartoon Network and enjoyed it. A week later it was a back up movie for a Halloween Watch Along with my friends and I had already forgotten who the villain was. I kept thinking the villain was the guard or the professor. We felt that the game part didn't make sense and had no reason to tie into Scooby Doo.

back when blockbuster still existed my parents let me rent this one (i remember hating it because the villain was scary or something) and when i returned it to blockbuster i accidently put one of my favorite sccoby doo movies in the cyberchase case and returned it. after that i was stuck with the movie 😅

When this movie came on when i was a kid i was obsessed bc it wasnt on as much as the others and the plot and the scene where they met the old gang in the video game. Same as you when i rewatched as an adult i found it lacking. If i had the vhs or the DVD of this one like the others and watched it more than a handful of times I would've caught on as a preteen. My favorite part of it as a kid was once they were in the game because that sort of isekai video game based story was so up my alley. I loved cyber chase and code lyoko

Don't forget that Level 10 had the same chase twice. The same pairs get chased by the same monsters *immediately* after the first chase ends. Feel like maybe some of that time could've gone to another level.

Out of all the 4 original direct-to-video Scooby-Doo films this is the one I saw the most because I actually owned it in my collection and it's also my least favorite of the 4 original films.

If the gang faced an old villain on 4 of the levels in boss battle style that would have made the movie even better

At least actual Scooby video games were smart enough to revisit classic capers. Classic creep capers and night of 100 frights come to mind

As a fan of all 4 movies from this time this one could've been the best but lacked a memorable soundtrack and main villian... like who would've thought on Zombie Island the sweet ol captain Jacques was working with the evil cat ladies??? And the Hex girls literally had me at their first performance lol... also Shaggy's love song about an Alien lives in my head rent free cuz I was just happy to see my man win... with cyber chase you got Bill and I guess a hummable lil tune... smh... take me back to the 90s please 🥺

Ive been watching old movies and I get Scooby Doo vibes from the "Abbott and Costello Meet" era as well as from Monster Squad and Ernest movies I would enjoy seeing you see those to see if you also catch the same vibes Also I feel like the Virtual Reality Fad in movies and TV was basically just an excuse to dump characters in to random settings they never understood Video Games 2nd video idea A look at video games in media and who gets them right or wrong If you want to see GOOD video game stories, watch Glitch Techs My fav scoobys to discuss The New Scooby-Doo Movies The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated "Bravo Dooby-Doo" Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School Scooby-Doo! and the Reluctant Werewolf Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island though its been done before so it'll be hard to say some thing new Scooby-Doo and the Alien Invaders Scooby-Doo! Mask of the Blue Falcon Scooby-Doo! Adventures: The Mystery Map Lego Scooby-Doo! Haunted Hollywood Scooby-Doo! & Batman: The Brave and the Bold Scooby-Doo! and the Curse of the 13th Ghost Scoob Daphne & Velma Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? Velma

I agree with you about the levels having different villains from the classic show, hell they could've used villains from the previous movies like Sarah Ravencroft from The Witch's Ghost or the "Aliens" from Alien Invaders
