I still look at Lady nagant as one of those Fallen heroes that deserves a second chance because it's like she was in the same situation with gentle criminal and La Brava with society being corrupted and they suffer from it for years, it's like she made a deal with The devil with All for One when he used her as a tool just like the corrupted hero society did, it's really messed up when she got blown up by the devil himself.

Damn it's crazy the fact that lady Nagant became one of my faves in like less than 10 chapters. I think she's a great and necessary villain for deku to fight against. She's the living example how it's very easy and even wrong to just destroy and it's very to hard to create and stick with it, even if it's something we all must do for any real change in our world. At least this us what I got from their fight.

Yes, she’s essentially what Deku would turn into if he wasn’t willing to have empathy for his opponents. Just like how Gentle might have been how Deku turned out if he didn’t meet Allmight

I think also to a degree she represents a flaw witht he current hero society. Like many of the villains do.. and this arc is a way of teaching deku that there is more to being a hero than just defeating villains. It also requires seeing the villain and what problems they represent Beyond the normal just greedy or power hungry types

Minor detail: Nagant looking up at Deku and saying "what a guy" wasn't in reference to her seeing the light and the symbol of peace, that was the very next panel; the one where she says "Izuku Midoriya... you're the real dea-" The "what a guy" was in reference to her being impressed (maybe even wooed?) by his pain tolerance, as he was using his badly-injured arm to hold her hand.

to add an extra layer of depth/sadness, my theory is that when she was a kid she experienced a same level of ridicule as shinso and monoma basically wanting to be a hero but people saying her quirk was too villainous or more suited for a bad guy, since her quirk was a sniper rifle which is a weapon famous for assassination's and killing. so when she was approached by the hero commission she saw this as the moment of "yes a can become a great hero" but in actuality she became the type of bad guy people thought she'd be (a hitman who kills)

Notice how in the flashback, Lady Nagant wrapped her arm in bandages, but after she's recruited and was looking at the star, she took off the bandages. I think that's why the job broke her, because I bet she's ashamed of her Quirk, born with a murderous weapon as her arm, so she was really excited and grateful when the Safty Commission told her "Let's make society better with that right arm of yours", to finally get a chance to use her Quirk for good, but then her spirit was broken by the fact that she's still just a weapon at the end At her core, Lady Nagant's still the same kid the Safety Commission recruited, trapped by her dream and hope of what a hero should be like, and was disappointed by how peace was attained and substained in such unheroic fashion. To quote Monoma, "The paradox is that to become the heroes we long for, we must do things unbecoming of heroes, and drift apart from our ideal. The hopes and dreams we had as a child, now grows heavy as burdens, it's almost like a curse." Lady Nagant herself told Deku not everything are sparkling stars, yet contradictorily she can't handle a hero's job isn't all flowers and sunshine Let's not forget Lady Nagant came from a pre-hero era, she even said in her time "heroes" are just how people called the vigilante. Time has changed, nowadays heroes has to go through study and exam to earn the job, and there's layers after layers of laws restricting heroes, as well as holding them accountable. When Lady Nagant asked the chairman "After the hope's maintained, what comes next?", this is the "next", society and laws do improve, her job is to keep the facade until the world has time to improve so one day that facade can actually come true

Lady Nagant is definitely worthy of redemption. All she did after getting out of prison was babysit a cripple, mildly inconvenience Deku, and then blow up. She didn't even get to be evil. The worst things she did were all before she actually became a villain!

In hindsight, this whole subplot was wasted potential because it went nowhere. It would've been interesting if this were its own entire arc, seeing Deku deal with the dark underbelly of Hero society. The Commission having hero assassins would've been a very interesting concept to explore. But this is a shonen after all, and Horikoshi is obviously burnt out

From what I've heard (which is from forums, so take it with a heap off salt) is that the self-destruct quirck cooked her brain to the point of lobotomizing her. And had she not been blown up, she wouldn't be of much use in a fight since her arm rifle was broken by deku and it can't regenerate or be fixed.

Nagant is an amazing character for exposing the dark dealings of society, shedding dim lights onto the false justice that the heroes wanted to keep. Manipulating the public and turning bright eyed kids into heartless killers, the public safety commission put on a guise of fake stories and promises but the difference of that with villain society is that the villains are honest while heroes lie.

I'm not really surprised that the public safety commission. would do something like this you can't have a society of heroes without a darker underbelly. Look at Star Trek with section 31 look at the MCU and shield and s.w.o.r.d and s.p.e.a.r and a.r.m.o.r organizations. Look at Amanda Waller from DC comics and katniss you can't have one without the other it's impossible. Stargate SG-1 and the i.o.a and look at our world with the CIA and FBI organizations. Like I'm not surprised at the public safety organization was. Stopped superheroes and super villains from doing nefarious things before they really got started. It's a pipe dream to have one without the other even though superheroes May save the world and all that jazz. You going to need a dark organization that's willing to put aside their morals and destroy as much as possible without any remorse or regret.
