(This is not the recipe used in the video but is one that I love. Our regular line of soaps do not contain palm oil. If you you want a palm free recipe, play around with adding more butters and/or olive oil.)
30% Lye Concentration
6% Super Fat
40% Olive Oil
20% Coconut Oil
10% Palm Oil (I look for Palm that is certified by Palm Done Right)
10% Rice Bran Oil
10% Castor Oil
10% Cocoa Butter
1tsp ppo* Sodium Lactate
*Per Pound of Oil
I soap at room temperature - which means the oils and the lye solution are in the 65-75 degree range.

I think you are the only KZbin soaper who consistently makes milk soaps. And, you show how you do not have to make it in an ice bath. Great job!

I think it is because Holly adds the milk as an additive, and not a main liquid, I love doing it that way so much more!

Milk in oils method is so much easier than dealing with frozen milks and worrying about burning them, plus your still getting the skin loving benefits from the milks🥰😊

Thanks! Yes, since I use milk as an additive, it is so much easier to add. I am too spontaneous to have 20 lbs of milk frozen on any given soapmaking day.

It's not like our neighbors show up often or anything. LOL I'm usually inside anyway. The times I have been 'available' to talk to people, they always direct their conversations to Caleb anyway and I wonder why I'm wasting my time standing there. LOL

Oh that's so lovely Holly!! Love it! 😍 💞 We are so similar, I am so introverted also. I'm just not the social butterfly like my husband is. He's always out chattering with the delivery people and all the neighbours! This one woman who's cottage is down the road, we keep giving each other gifts and I haven't even met her yet! I'm always inside working so I keep missing her. 😂 This pandemic has not affected me all that much in so far as being isolated. I much prefer being tucked away working from home or actually at the cottage all Summer long has been great!! 😉

Haha for sure! It hasn't affected me personally a lot either. I haven't changed how I operate except for cooking at home all the time now. I have so many great online friends that I have never met. It would be fun someday...at least they understand my introvert-ness at this point.

It took getting older to realize how introverted I truly was. I never used to understand why shopping for even an hour or two thoroughly exhausted me or why going to someone's house for a birthday party made me crawl into bed for hours to recover. Now I know I am just happy being home with my family. My husband is very social so he keeps up with the neighbors. Haha!

Note from one introvert to another. Some of us recharge in groups and some of us recharge alone! Nothing wrong with either - it’s just how it is!! My question is: What is standard size for retail bars? Looking to purchase a quality mold and see several different bar size configurations.

That's so true Denise. I appreciate those that keep the social fires burning. I used to work in retail and actually loved it. I like the 3.5 x 2.5 x 1.25 size myself. The biggest thing is finding boxes if you are going that route. Find the box and then find the mold (or build it like we did).

Thank you! The mold isn't a drawer, just a box mold that my husband built and put on a drawer pull handle. But I am sure that would work for someone. This one was about 40 pounds.

You can have Amazon put a note on your account saying where the package has to be delivered to. I had to do this because they kept putting my packages on the sidewalk instead of bringing up to my house. :)

You should have a sensor with an auto recording of a big bad dog barking or something so when they ignore all the signs and come up to the porch they'll have a good scare. Bet it the next time they'll read the signs and look for signs at other people's homes too.. 😂😂

How long do you allow your soaps to rest before pouring?

I usually don't let them to rest unless it is taking a while for them to come to a thicker trace. Then it's really only a matter of a few minutes.

What do you store the soaps on? It looks like a cake tray and paper on it. Do they stay on it all weeks to mature?

I use trays that fit on what we call a curing rack. They are also known as bun racks. We do use parchment paper or paper towels. Nowadays, I also use a plastic tray inside the metal trays.

The soap itself typically gets better with age. The colors and fragrance may fade over time. It varies batch to batch. For the best results, I recommend that our soaps be used within a year.

I swear you're telling my story with the delivery drivers. I live in an apartment, on the first floor, next to the entrance/exit and they consistently insist on leaving our packages AT THE DOOR no matter what we tell them. Someone's always home to receive packages smh. With Amazon, we started having packages taken to an Amazon Locker and UPS to their drop centers. We used to have a regular UPS driver for years, but he suddenly left and was replaced with several incompetent drivers (one replacement was actually good but he was short lived on our route too). It's ridiculous.

Ugh that's too bad! You'd think they'd want that consistency with drivers and their route. Every time FedEx comes out especially it's someone new. It can't help with efficiency at all.
