Sirji peepal and Bargad is easily available trees here in my village they are on every tad tree. I have planted many Brgad and peepal trees . I am only 18. I will plant atleast 100 Banyan and peepal tree before my death. You are doing very good work. Thank you for working for Whole planet.

Sir, i am building a house in kerala and I have some spare space. Is it ok to plant Peepal trees on the plot? How close or far away fm the house should it be? People are generally not encouraging of planting peepal trees as they claim that the root system affects the foundation of the house? Is this true?

Sir, F.Benjamina is also a very good tree for attracting birds. Just like other members of the Ficus family such as Pimpli and Peepal.

@@rukhsarafreen4190 Sure. The figs (fruit/flowers) of the F.Benjamina (or any other ficus species) are a vital source of food for many birds. If you look up a ficus tree in your area, you will notice that it would be full of birds, especially when it is fruiting. And yes, because it is a bushy plant with aerial roots, it is often used by birds for building nests. However, since you mentioned a balcony, a Ficus would not be a suitable plant for you. That is because they are enormous trees, easily reaching 60 feet in height! But, you can keep F.Benjamina and other ornamental ficus in containers in your balcony. While this is good for attracting nesting birds, it will not be as useful as the tree itself, as it will not produce figs. If you do want to attract birds, you can try the following: 1. Fruit trees in large containers: Guava, Mulberry, Rose Apple, Papaya and Phalsa can be grown in pots, and are capable of producing fruits if you apply good amount of organic fertilisation. These will do exceptionally well if you have plenty of sun in your balcony. Birds love the fruits. Another is the Coffee Berry, but it only grows in the Western Ghat belt (Goa, Coastal Karnataka, Kerala). 2. Small shrubs with flowers/fruits/nectar: The usual plants (Ixora, Hibiscus, Duranta). Not as much as 1) but good for adding green cover with flowers that look pleasing to the eye. 3. Vegetables: The Ivy Gourd (Kundru, Tendli) is a very good plant for attracting parrots and other birds, as they love the vegetable. Bird's Eye Chillies are another option, and the shrub looks pretty too). 4. Bamboos: Small varieties of bamboos are an excellent choice for attracting birds. Bulbuls, Munias and Magpie Robins all love to build nest in bamboo thickets. I have three Munia families in the Bamboo shrub in my terrace garden.🙂 I hope you will find this information useful. Edit: I forgot to mention that tif you place a bird bath in your balcony, you will surely get the birds in, especially in the hot summers. Just a simple terracotta plate with water will suffice.
