There is nothing better than old school manual warn hubs. Not the Ford plastic manuals, although they work, you just have to exercise them periodically.

“I did 80 to get to sonic before it closed” the commitment is real
I drive a 2020 Tundra with a cap, roof basket and a platform in the bed ( about 600 extra lbs ) the best I can get is 11 mpg on the highway and about 9mpg in the city. The oversized tires don't help either. Based off what I have read, the rack and tires alone could be costing me about 2 or 3 mpg? Fun isn't free. But I do love your bad ass jeep!!

To all those that question manual hubs. You should and probably have a routine when going from pavement to dirt. Some of those things done are lower tire pressure, lock hubs, make sure fire extinguishers are accessible, everybody in group understands trip plan etc. Hubs to lock takes about ten seconds.

Our 1997 Ford CF8000 ExpeditionVehicle sits on 24.5 logger lugs... about 43" tall (I measured them during this comment). We are in the slow-lane at 52mph, we rarely get better than 14mpg.

Did you recalibrate the speedometer? My guess is that you aren't getting the fuel economy your Jeep is saying because the speedo is off. See if your GPS speed is the same as your Jeep speedo. If not then it needs to be recalibrated for your larger tires. Just my speculation.

He says in the video that he always re gears the axles when he gets bigger tires to match the final drive ratio as stock. It won't be perfect but it will be too close to matter.

The tires size and gear recalibrate are what matter.

On the highway, speed makes such a big difference on MPG. Between 55 and 70 you need twice as much power to cut through the air at the higher speed in a pickup.

Gonna be leaving in two hours to pick up a used Palomino 1251 to put in the back of my 2021 Ram 3500. Dude I have a Ecodiesel that I can cherry pick mileage IF I keep it at or under 65. Then yea we can say the truck gets 24-25 miles per gallon (33" tires). BUT when I run I-80 cross country at like 80mph. Yea the truck will get like maybe 20mpg. Pulling 6x12 3K enclosed trailer you better count on about 17 mpg. At 200k the front end of the Ecodiesel was SMOKED. Wheel bearings, axles, housing. The stupid little jack shafts in the differential got all wallered out and when I put it together with the new axle shafts everything was floppin around. Replaced it all. First time I put a wrench on the truck. I think the emission stuff fell of around 40k I know know but that's about the time I stopped having emission related problems.

Calculate the old fashioned way…Track miles over road, using GPS on your phone or highway mile posts…A to B over a tankful….then refill tank and calculate MPG…your onboard computer is all messed up with all the changes you’ve made. It has no idea of the distance you are traveling per wheel revolution.
