What are some of your favorite and least-favorite GameBoy games?

I still can't believe that someone saw "The Toxic Avenger" and thought that it would make a good basis for a kids show. As far as Troma properties go, "Class of Nuke 'em High" or "Sgt. Kabukiman" would have made more sense, at least by the logic of the time.

Lol, it was such a bizarre idea that I'm convinced had to be a joke from Lloyd Kaufman. But they also made kids cartoons out of Robocop and Rambo, so who knows...

I was also underwhelmed by Demon's Crest, I man have gone into it expecting too much. Batman and TMNT Fall of the Foot Clan are two of my childhood favorites. Keep the Gameboy videos coming, they are awesome.

Thanks, man! I wish I had owned Batman when I was a kid, I'm certain I would have loved it. It was only as an adult that I actually got around to playing it.

I had asked for Batman for GameBoy for my birthday one year (had meant this one), but I ended up getting the SunSoft Return of the Joker version instead. I was bummed at first, but then after playing it, I realized the one I got was really the more "Batman" game, as he had abilities that were more true to his character anyway: wall jumping, rope swinging, punching and Batarangs as opposed to using guns, and the sprite was larger, more detailed and better animated. So I ended up liking what I got instead. ... And then years later, I got the other one used at a significant discount at a Gamestop that was going out of business. And yeah, Gargoyle's Quest FTW. Have it, love it, play it often.

I haven't put a lot of time into Return of the Joker yet, but from what I've seen and played I love the graphics and animation, and the music is pretty good, too.

Considering the level of editing in these 8 videos, I have to say that 8 was a solid amount of completed videos for this particular series is impressive 💪 Gargoyle's Quest 1 and 2 are games I'd love to have in my collection someday. Wifey and I have Demon's Crest covered, but we've barely put real time into it. Batman on the Game Boy looks like a lot of fun! I've seen quite a few of our mutual friends play through it. I may have said this before, but Fall of the Footclan's masively detailed sprites are awesome. Hahaha oh, man. That Casper game. Yeah, I don't have fond memories of that game. One of my cousins had it because it was gifted to him, and I tried it VERY briefly. We both agreed that it was not worth the plastic it was encased in. Fun video as always, dude!

Thanks Omega! Yeah, 8 videos isn't too terrible, hopefully I can turn up the volume a tad in 2024. The Gargoyle's Quest trilogy is an awesome set of games to add to your collection. I don't love them all equally but I won't deny that all of them are worth owning.

Happy New Year MrMatthews! Remember that movie Batman v Superman revised the idea of Batman using a gun from GB Batman? I need to rewatch Casper The Movie with my girls. I think they would like it. I also thought I was too cool for most movies in the late 90s.

Happy New Year, Tylord! Yeah, if nothing else, it was great sharing a movie from my (kind of) childhood with my son. Casper was pretty generic and a little cringy when it originally came out, but I was surprised by how well it's aged.

I like the idea of looking back at your first season of the gameboy-it’s nice to reflect! I’ll have to try some more gameboy games, now that I have a pocket/dock. The snes analogue also has gameboy player as well I guess Casper didn’t stand a “ghost” of a chance on making your top 5. 😂 I honestly have no nostalgia for the Casper movie 🍿 but it’s cool that people enjoy it Demon’s crest, I kinda have nostalgia for. I played it while renting it-never finished it cause it was a bit cryptic with the FF6 like world map (mode 7) Neat to see some licensed games on your list, and I love how the mega man games are “mega” polar opposites, in terms of being your favorite and least favorite I enjoyed the video, MrM!

I've recorded most of my footage using the Super GameBoy adapter on the Analogue Super NT. I think the games look better played on the Pocket, but it's been difficult finding a controller that I like as much as the original SNES controller.

Gargoyles Quest 2 had a Japanese only release on the Game Boy, there's a translated version somewhere on the interwebs, but I've not played it yet. Wasn't a fan of the NES game. Apologies for not checking out your video sooner, I've not been on KZbin for a while.

Years ago I bought what turned out to be either the Chinese or Korean release of the GQII. I've been tempted to try to play through it using the NES game as a guide, but I just can't quite muster up the drive to put that much effort into a game that I think is only "okay"

great video, loved your opinion on these. Gargoyles quest is badass i agree. I also loved the batman game. As for the worst, dude i kinda want the toxic crusader game but your right....... its prolly poor and its fn expensive lol. Good video as always dude

Yeah, if Toxic Crusaders was like $20 - $30 (which I think is still a bit too much to pay for most GameBoy games), I'd totally recommend giving it a shot just for the novelty of it. But $300.00 for that game is absolute madness.

I actually played that game a little bit for Halloween. It seemed pretty decent, but I didn't really get too deep into it. I'll try to give it a bit more time for Halloween '24!

Thank you for your service! Gargoyle's Quest was also one of my favorite games that I completed last year. I need to prioritize finishing Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge, and I think I should stream that Ghostbusters GB game soon. Have you considered selling Toxic Avengers to buy New Ghostbusters II on Famicom? Looking forward to more GB videos from you this year!

That's not a terrible idea, actually. I'm still holding onto the hope of someday having a complete GameBoy collection, so maybe when I get that final cartridge, I'll savor the moment for a few days and then start selling off the games I don't want, lol

Batman by sunsoft for genesis is a very fun game that follows the movie well. Id say give it a try its honesty a more enjoyable game then the nes version. Tho the nes game has amazing music and is a good game just find it overrated

Trashy licensed games are always the worst. I'm sure you will find some real stinkers in 2024 prob a few hidden gems as well
