Something to consider is if the mousepad is affected by humidity! Artisan mousepads are not affected by humidity unlike the logitech and the zowie. This is big for people who don't play inside an air controlled room at all times because it will feel inconsistent in different environments (in a room without ac or in a room with ac). Some pads get super muddy in hot environments and if you take gaming serious this is something you should consider.

Old video, but my tip for cleaning a mousepad is simple (but requires you to have a backup). I have a desk pad which gets nasty over time since I do eat at my desk as well as have dandruff which clogs it up over time. Just put your pad in your tub and soak it, then use some dish soap and the soft side of a sponge to clean it. Rinse and repeat 2~3x times until it washes out clean. Rack dry it for a day. After that you pretty much have a brand new pad both in look and feel.

This is honestly the first time ever I agree with 100% of someone else's opinions on mousepads. Normally I find people's experience with them seem to differ so much with mine that I'm wondering if we're even talking about the same product. I used most of the pads in this video and everything is spot on, from the G640 having a break in period then being much slower but consistent for a few months to the GS-R being difficult for tracking and micro-adjustments and FINALLY someone else agrees that the Hien is difficult to control. Thanks for your objective comments about mousepads. One suggestion for a video I would like to see: Talk a little bit about your desk! Things like optimal size, height, etc. Is for sure individual, but still, if you play with an XL mousepad, then there needs to be an adequate big surface somewhere. For exact that reason, I play with an M size pad and higher mouse sensitivity. Do not have a bigger desk ;-)

The G640 has a coating so be aware of any moisture as that could gradually wear it off. The coating will also wear with time with everyday use and this will make the texture change over the lifespan. lastly, If you live in a humid area this mouse pad will feel like mud as the friction increases. Keep these factors in mind if your planning to buy this mouse pad.
@MrBenderrrr
@MrBenderrrr 2 жыл бұрын
Which mouse pad would you recommend which doesn't have any coating?
@tinycar123
@tinycar123 2 жыл бұрын
@@MrBenderrrr Lethal gaming gear makes very high quality mousepads that aren't overly expensive and they come in a few different sizing options and texture. They have no coating on the surface and are not affected by humidity so the pad should feel the same throughout the whole lifespan. The only issue is that the mousepads are a new release and are very popular so some models may be out of stock. Also if you don't live in the US or close to the us, shipping may be expensive.

things people need to consider too when getting mousepads is mouse-feet as well. Stock mouse-feet or corepads end up being the more "controlled" feet, whereas Tiger Ice ends up being faster. because of that, one pad can control differently, which may or may not make it better in most cases. Right now my favorite combo is My GSR-SE + Tiger Ice on my RVU.

I've had the G640 for a couple of years. I really like it. The edges of the mat are starting to warp--not lying perfectly flat. The friction is a little low for what I like, but I've adapted to it and it's just personal preference anyways. My favorite mousepad I've ever owned was a SteelSeries pad (I lost it when moving houses). The SteelSeries was ever so slightly thicker and had a tad bit more friction. Overall the SteelSeries pad just felt higher quality. All that being said, the fact that my G640 has lasted this long and is still in good shape, is impressive enough to me. I wash it every few months, which I think has helped it last so long.

I would suggest the Inked Gaming Pad for anyone's first pad for tac shooters. For BR's and fast shooters, as a first pad I would suggest the Hayate Otsu B mid if you have the money and if you don't I would suggest the Razer Strider or Aqua Control Plus (The white and colored variants are the same(The black one is the only one that is not heat pressed and they renamed it the Aqua Control 2 to reduce confusion)).

Ever try the Glorious Ice with their ceramic glides? I have a friend who has one of their mice with the glides installed with an ice pad and it seriously feels like you're using a mouse on actual ice -- virtually silent glide and it'll move even if you breathe on it. I tried it and while it makes tracking pretty effortless, twitch-aiming will require completely recalibrating your muscle-memory to stop overshooting everything.

I have that exact setup and unfortunately, that glide doesn't last forever, especially if you don't wash it frequently (yes, with soap and water). I'm currently looking for something with a bit more control and less maintenance. Considering the Glorious Fire mousepad bc I've heard pretty good things about it and the dimensions of the glorious element pads are perfect for me.

Agree that the issue with the G640 is wear. And the problem is it may not wear evenly. My first one became unusable for gaming, because it developed slower worn patches that felt like tugging on a mouse cable that had run out of slack. It's like there's a slick coating on the top of the pad that wears out over time. It would be fine if the wear was even, but in my experience it wasn't. It wore out pretty suddenly, too, I thought that I must have spilled something sticky on the mousepad, it was such a stark difference in glide speed. I do think it's a good pad -- I bought it again recently when I found at a sale price -- but you have to anticipate that it will eventually wear out.

I have gotten a little creative recently and been using a hard mousepad on top of different thicker and larger mousepads/deskmats for the last months. The combination is pretty fast but still has some control and it now feels pretty natural to me. I love switching deskmats to accent my setup but they seem too slow and soft for competitive gaming, so this approach has been my weird solution.

some disclaimers that I noticed. Might wanna read b4 u buy. (I own GSR and zero soft but I watch too much boardzy and other mousepad reviews) G640: - has a coating, so its a medium speed pad w/ coating, but its super inconsistent speed wise without coating - a lot of apex and val pros use it simply b/c they're 1. sponsored, 2. see those sponsored pros use it, so they use it. - the coating wears off pretty quick, especially if u play games like 1-2 hours every day glorious fire: - its just another fnatic dash but smaller and more expensive.. GSR: - there's no such thing as a "break-in" period for non coated pads like the GSR. They just simply get slower overtime with use and wash. Imagine these non coated mousepads as shirts. zero: - in my experience, I have hairs stuck in the mousepad (idk a zero owner who doesn't), but I have NEVER felt them when gaming.

i recommend GTF-X from zowie for a cloth mousepad where you won't need high maintenance for. its half plastic half cloth which means it is a hybrid, do be aware that the mousepad surface is tough (not hard as hard pads. and not as soft as cloth) once you get to its breaking point it doesn't really get muddy that much compared to other cloth mousepads

I think they are overpriced because of the quality control. People get really anal about the imperfections. The thing is, you can probably try some cheap ones, and there is a good chance one of them is just as good. You just need a consistent surface to drag the mouse on, that’s it. The cheap ones are more likely to have imperfections, but if you find one that’s even and has just the right friction, you can use it until it wear off and buy another one. You really don’t lose anything. Just try them out first.
@KiLLJOY1056
@KiLLJOY1056 3 ай бұрын
@@JM-tj5qm It doesnt have anything to do with Quality Control because when you make a good product from the start Quality Control doesnt take any time. Every company has quality control, and there are plenty cheap objects that have better quality control than objects that cost 10x as much. I know plenty about the mousepads and have tried and found the ones that I like the most, and they arent near as expensive as the others, and their quality control has been just fine. You do lose out when you pay $200 for a mousepad that you either dont like or feels and does the same as the $40 mousepad youve been using the whole time. That is a loss. Most people dont have the money to just try everything out.

First, credit where it's due, I greatly agree with your opinion on the logitech mousepad! As someone who's used the smaller, thinner version of the g640 for almost 5 years now (I've also used the g640, however I've found it to be too big for my personal use), I 100% agree with your points about it. However as I continued to watch the video, I have to say that I find your comments about the mousepads rather... lackluster? You made it a point to mention about the "speed" of the mousepad and how the "speed" varies in utility for different games, however you didn't make it a point to really describe what you meant by "speed". Personally I'm wondering if maybe you mean the smoothness of the mousepads. However in that case, would you be referring to the speed of your wrist/arm on the mousepad? Or force exerted to make the mouse go a certain speed? Another point I admittedly didn't really realise, was that this was a highly subjective review, as implied from the title. In which case I have to ask, would it be a good idea to recommend the artesian mousepads to highly? Of course I understand that some people come with the overarching question of "Ok, so what is a mousepad that you'd recommend?", however when being subjective with the review, does it not give your recommendation quite a heavy bias? Alternatively, I may have perceived the intention of the video wrongly, and you were trying to be objective about the mousepads. In which case I'm sorry to say but you made some pretty clear biases with your own experience, such as saying that the razer mousepad may be a lesser option that the artesian one when it came to a certain game (apologies for not citing exactly, as I'm typing this out on mobile). That advice was subject to your aim "style" and experience with games, although admittedly I get that you tried to be objective about the games. I have some more slight issues with the way you presented the mousepads, however, even I feel that I'm just looking for points to discredit your review. No. I can say that I've received some insightful information regarding the artesian mousepads, however I still stand by my points. I think there are definitely some improvements that can be made, one of which I think would be great for a subjective review is a visual pros and cons list. Your thoughts about the mousepads felt somewhat, scattered? I think a visual list would definitely make your points more concise. Small note, sorry for giant block of text!

@@idkwhatname3133 Maybe for you. Not for me though. Just because your experience is different than mine doesn't mean I'm "clueless". I gave my experience so that others like me, may look at this mouse pad and consider it. If you don't like it personally, that's fine. Also I'd like to put down that I've used many different mouse pads over the past 10 years+ including Razer's hard "control / speed" mouse pad, no mouse pad at all, many cloth pads, artisan pads, etc. I am saying what works for me and it will not be the same as everybody else's preference. I have always used speed / hard pads when available and so I'm very used to the feel precision a speed pad requires. I've tried a lot of mousepads and hopefully with my own personal experience it can help people with their purchasing decision. I can give an honest list of the best ones and alternative pads (i.e artisan, glorious fire, etc.) in 5 different categories listed in order from slowest to fastest: Slow: LGG Jupiter (slowest pad on the list, if you want something similar to a GSR or Equate) Control: Gamesense Radar/Inked Gaming (the best alternative to most popular generic cloth pads, i.e hyperX fury s, logitech G640, etc.) LGG Saturn/Odin Eclipse (artisan zero alternative, the eclipse is very smooth and does not have the same issues that plagues the zero with dust and hair getting stuck. I have not tried Saturn but I have faith that LGG have a true zero competitor) Medium: Esports Tiger EBA/Mousepad Company/Aqua Control + Super (dechanic control alternative, only get the Mousepad Company if you need a large desk size pad and prefer the design of the mousepad company, otherwise get the EBA or AC+ super) Aqua Control + (not sure if the coating has changed in terms of the AC+ for the designed pads such as the strata version but from personal experience it became slower and inconsistent after a couple months use. The white and black version has remained consistent in terms of performance and I have had the pads for nearly 10 months now) Fnatic Dash (glorious fire alternative, easily one of my favorite pads. Love the smooth surface and glide. It pairs well with my mice with corepads) Quick: LGG Venus (cheaper hayate otsu alternative, probably my best performing pad) LGG Mercury/Odin Infinity/Gamesense Rush (all cheaper Hien alternatives, essentially the same in performance, just pick the brand you like) Fast: Esports Tiger Grandmaster or SE Qin/Jin (I really enjoy this pad especially in fast paced games like Apex. I would opt for the regular grandmaster instead of the SE version since you get the same nylon pad surface for lower cost) Endgame Gear MPC/Traigun/Eve (if you want pads that will last basically forever get any of these cordura pads, they have very low initial and dynamic friction but not as fast an artisan shidenkai or glorious ice for example. Get this pad if you have steady hands and need a really fast pad) Note: to reiterate this is based off my personal experience and opinion. Most of what I wrote is similar to a small KZbinr named NotSoCommonSense if you need a more visual representation of comparison of mousepads and has a mousepad master sheet that closely represents my thoughts on the pads. Hope this helps!
