I'm really glad that you like TTGL, however, the problem (or rather the situation here) is that Gurren Lagann is actually a salad of ommages and straight rip-offs of other older series like Gaogaigar, Getter Robo and others (even Gravion, mind you). But I can definitely understand you cause when I was younger and saw it for the 1st time it hit me just like that. You're cool my friend, best of luck to you

I always saw the homages to those older Mecha series to be a sign of appreciation and love to its heritage. That show of passion to me is part of the charm of the series
