Great video!!! After 50+ years of dog ownership, dog rescue and fostering, and all that dog health maintenance, I always learn new things from Rudy with each video. Clipping paw pad areas, sanitary clips, ears, and snout and eyes are an important skill that Rudy teaches. PLEASE keep these videos coming!

So when you hear of dogs getting cut at the groomers, are there ever blade injuries or are these just from scissors? I'd love to buy one of those clippers for the in between groom but afraid I will cut my dogs. (Lila, 10 year old Maltese and Wookie almost 2 year old Havanese)

Thank you. The 10 blade. When do you use ceramic? Can u use a blade if it has a little rust on it?

@@marthamackey6105 you can use the ceramic 10 just like the regular 10..you can clean the rust off with some clipper cool, and blade oil..We appreciate you watching us..

why wouldn't you want to use a 5 blade in the back like you mentioned? isn't a 5 blade even more safe than a 10 blade bc it's not cutting as short? thanks in advance for your help!
@GroomingByRudy2 ай бұрын
@@ysteren No never use a 5 blade under the eyes..it is a skip tooth blade,and a high risk of catching skin..also would not take it short enough as a 10 blade would..10 blade is the safest of all the blades..We appreciate your comment..thank you so much for watching us..Hope this helped..
@ysteren2 ай бұрын
@@GroomingByRudy thanks so much for your reply! I was referring to when you mention it at minute 5:37, in reference to her private area. And andis makes a 5FC blade which is not skip tooth. So is that what you were referring to when making your comment - avoiding the skip tooth ? Hope that makes sense!
@GroomingByRudy2 ай бұрын
@@ysteren oh yes ! especially not in private areas, although safer than a regular 5F, it can still catch skin so 10 blade only is the way to go for the private areas 😊

Another question I have, I have been grooming my two mini schnauzers for two years now. Getting better, getting a tad quicker but my ten blade gets so hot so quickly, that I had to buy another to switch off and it seems like I only get (without looking at a watch) ten minutes, maybe less. I have Andis. One is ceramic and the other is metal. Supposedly ceramic stays cooler longer, but not mine. Is this normal to have the blade go hot that quick? And yes, I do use a toothbrush to brush out hairs after each use, including during sessions.

Thanks for sharing! I'm not a groomer but, I've been grooming my Maltese puppy (6 months old). Right now all I have is a 10 blade and a couple attachments for a longer cut. Last week I used the 10 blade on her bum and now she looks like a baboon butt. I probably took off a little more on the side than I should have but I think she will forgive me.😅 I'll get better after I have more practice I think.

Hi. Im becoming a new groomer and my main fear is cutting a dog. My question is how often does this happen and how do i handle the situation. Any tips and advice would be great.??
@GroomingByRudy6 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for your important question..The fact that your concern in accidentally cutting a dog, tells me that you are already a great groomer. It does happen from time to time, but not to often, again if you are concerned about it,like you are ..try to work slowly, dont allow people to rush you through a grooming, stay focused, especially when working sensitive areas eyes, ears, privates,armpits, mouth area..again work slow, always make sure your using correct blades,ect..I wish I could tell you the fear goes away ,but it doesn't. What does happen though is you become more practiced, and more confident, and that lessons the risk of cutting a dog dramatically, and doesn't happen much at all.If it happens, hopefully it is not a severe cut,or nick,you can usually treat it,and explain it to the clients, along with a sincere apology. Dont be afraid to refuse a service if you feel the dog is to excitable, aggressive, to matted,because that's when injuries usually happen..Take your time,it is a long learn as you go career..I'm still learning myself after 40 years..I wish you the best,try not to worry about it to much..we appreciate you..let us know your progress..
