One feature I would love you to fully test: Weather/water proofing. Put the bags in your shower for 5 minutes and see how well they keep water out. LOL... please feel free to call me crazy and disregard my suggestion. Thanks for another great video.
@v1d3006 жыл бұрын
Not that crazy but those are YKK #5 Reverse Coil Zippers. So you can surely trust them.
@Youknowthebo6 жыл бұрын
Hey Andrew. That's actually a good idea. Although i usually believe that there is no backpack, that will be 100% water proof. Heavy rain will get through zippers or seams eventually. Probably the best solution is a raincover or an umbrella (which is what I do in the city ;) Nevertheless, a shower test might be a good idea for the future

Nice video Bo, agree love the outside shots even if it is freezing I was looking online is it really -4 Celsius in Hamburg? and here I've been bundled up with our temps in the 40's F I actually had to take my all weather riding pants out to ride my bike. California has it rough. BTW I spent a year and half in Iceland and a few years in the UK I do know about cold weather. I agree on the laptop compartment design. I also learned a tip the other day carry a large trash bag then you can put your bag in if it rains-snows its good to have along if need to set you bag down on wet-muddy-dirty ground, I'm going to keep one from now on for when I go on photo shoots.
@Youknowthebo6 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Donald. Yes it's still below zero Celsius at night. But at least the snow has gone. I actually have taken the bike out a couple of days ago to shoot the Kriega R20 review. Bit it was just too cold. Carrying a garbage bag as a safety measurement against rain is a good idea. But definitely only when you're walking. The garbage bag probably flutters in the wind like crazy 😂
@bikecommuter246 жыл бұрын
thats just for when I'm not on the bike, my camera bag has a rain cover and it works on the bike. I can tighten the cover down so it does not flap around. That tip is for bags that do not have rain covers or or are not weather proof, if I need to I can put my stuff in the trash bag and put it in the bag. When I travel by motorcycle I used to put my clothes in large ziplock bags, but with packing cubes its easier for motorcycle travel I used to have saddle bags, tail bag and a tank bag, now I got it down to a tank bag and a tail pack or duffle bag preferably a waterproof one. there are motorcycle specific items I always bring on a trip those go into the tank bag. The Kreiga, a motorcycle accessory shop just opened up a mile from my house and they stock the Kreiga line, I was looking at the R25 but their retail price is $198.00 USD I might look around or look at the R20 but I think I'll need the bigger one.
@Youknowthebo6 жыл бұрын
I have a tailbag in mind as well. It's a company from New York. They are supposed to start a Kickstarter soon. Unfortunately I forgot their name. Need to look through my emails. The Kriega review will be online next week btw
@bikecommuter246 жыл бұрын
That's cool I'm looking to test a couple in the next few months I tried a couple of tank bags that converted to a backpack off the bike one works well as a tank bag one and the other one not as well and both not very well as backpacks but I expect a lot from a backpack. My main concerns are a padded compartment for the laptop-tablet and weather proofing right now there are hardly any tank bags that have a laptop compartment you have to use a case. for long trips my computer ends up in a backpack, for motorcycle trips I strap the backpack to the back of the bike, but I got a backrest and rack if I need them. I'm not a big fan or user of messenger bags. The search goes on.

Great video, have you had time to review the Vaga Day pack?
@pcasaubon6 жыл бұрын
Awesome video! I just recently found your channel and I'm obsessed lol. Great overview of the bag, I'm thinking in buying it but I'm curious how it works/feels when you bring the Vaga inside as well, if it takes up too much space, etc. It would seem the perfect one bag with a day pack travel system if only the daypack doesn't take up all the space. Any thoughts?
@Youknowthebo6 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Patricio! I'm very happy to hear that you like my videos! The Vaga is designed to be stored away inside the main bag when you are traveling, Therefore it is very simple and lightweight in design, but still very capable to carry some stuff to a meeting for instance. However it does take some space away in the maincompartment of course, so you need to take this into account when packing.
@pcasaubon6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that update! Will definitely consider it if I purchase it :)
@v1d3006 жыл бұрын
Woah! This bag looks perfect. Apart from the zipper quality this bag has thought about everything imo. About the zipper not opening completely, I think it is a design choice as to avoid the filled front (heavy) compartment falling down completely when the bag is opened while using the bag vertical. For laptop I think ditching that laptop system and choosing a good laptop sleeve should solve that problem. Are those packing cube are standard size? If one doesn't choose to buy from them can standard packing cube fit well and not waste space around it? Will you be reviewing the daypack too? If not, I would love it know does it stand by itself as the Akra does? Can a laptop + a few other not-so-heavy or big things accommodate well in that daypack? From the kickstarter page it looks like the idea of Vaga is to keep it in Akra and only use it for meetings to carry a laptop and very few things while you are traveling. Thanks for that great review. Your new style is far more casual, entertaining and feels less monotonous. I like it more than before.
@Youknowthebo6 жыл бұрын
Hey mate. I'm glad that you like the new style. 😊 Agreed. Your reasoning for the zipper of the second compartment sounds understandable. Nevertheless it is a little cumbersome in practice. Because no matter how you turn the backpack either side will be heavy (either due to the laptop or the clothing inside the main compartment) so it would be great just to open it up flat. Yes, I would ditch the harness too and just opt for a good sleeve. The packing cubes are actually shaped perfectly to the bag. Therefore I would recommend to get them if you don't already have some cubes. You can see their shape in the top shot of them in my video. I'm not going to review the Vaga. It is designed to be carried inside the main bag. Therefore it is small, but still quite big to carry your important stuff to work for instance. It is simple, but well made. Great add on. Let me know if you have any more questions 😉 ✌️

Nice Vid, although i'm not a big fan of the bag :D Did you take a look at the new Horizn-Studio stuff? You might like that Backpack! (And it's nice to see a german company finally producing some nice travel gear :D ) Would like to see your opinion about that!
@Youknowthebo6 жыл бұрын
Thanks, mate. I have seen Horizn-Studio on a couple of instagram ads. Looks very interesting, although after having tested the Blue smart trolley I wasn't very impressed by smart bags overall. Too much space for technical errors IMHO. Nevertheless I would love to test one.
@nils2006 жыл бұрын
Concerning the trolley: i haven't been able to test the horizn smart bag, but i've had some very pleasing experience with the rimowa bolero (basically the "original one"), which is basically the same trolly without the powerbank. So i'm assuming, for half the price, the horizn should be okay :D (and i think we two have already spoken about that thing at some point. either here or on carryology :D ) But what i meant was their new backpack: its called gion. that looks kind of sleek so i thought you might like it. (check instagram, they do insta ads like crazy :D )

I think they could have done more with the large front pocket in terms of organization and having a second water bottle holder seems kind of pointless. Instead of that, they could have added the side handle and had an additional organizing pocket with depth. Then of course they would make it possible to tuck the shoulder straps away, which would be a nice feature. other than that, the bag looks really nice.

Agreed. Very valid points. Cheers, mate

Thanks, mate. I agree with you, I definitely should stop excusing my decisions. But I'm still trying to cover all my bases and eventualities that someone might criticise something in a review. Although the positive feedback is overwhelmingly high, just one bad comment does have a lot of impact on me. I'm still human of course. And to avoid those kind of comments I still try to explain myself too much in some cases. But I'm getting better with dealing with certain comments and will go into the direction that you are advising ;-) Thank you very much!

@Youknowthebo6 жыл бұрын
