I had a brand new 2011 Hyundai Elantra that saved my life. A girl hit me from the driver side hard and I also was told that I'd have been killed if the frame hadn't been built so well and the car wouldn't have had air bags and seat belts. The air bag knocked me unconscious. I suffered a dislocated shoulder, a fractured rib and a punctured lung but I'm still alive to tell about it. I shudder to think what it would've been like if this had been in the 1950s when they had no safety devices in the cars!! Somewhere on KZbin there is a crash test between a 1959 Chevy and a 2016 Chevy The newer Chevy absorbed the crash and the test dummy was not torn up. But the 1959 Chevy the test dummy had the steering column pierced through its chest and it was quite a mess.

The best years were 1997-2001, 2004-2006, 2010 and newer! Had a Toyota back several years ago, and hated the way it drove. Fast forward to 2018, and I came into a 1998 Camry for free. My BMW lease was up, so I figured I would drive the Camry until I got a new car. I didn’t like it much initially, but it grew on me. I wound up driving it for about a year and a half, and it got me everywhere I was going. Only needed to replace the spark plugs, alternator belt, and a can of freon in all that time. Along the way, I discovered Scotty’s channel, and his love for the old Toyotas. Since I live in the snow belt, and want AWD, it motivated me to get a 2011 Lexus IS250 AWD that he’s also featured for a low price that I paid cash for. Love it! Drives like a European car, but has so far done me great in terms of service. For the first time in more than 20 years, I have no car payment, am in a great driving car, and laugh all the time. Couldn’t be happier!

My only complaint is it's worse on gas than my 1.6L 4-cyl Kia, but the extra *oomph* is sure a lot of fun. Gets about 20 mpg city, and I haven't had it on the highway yet. I just bought 2003 camry 5 speed a few months ago with 114,000 runs great. Love the 5 speed. Went right through inspection paid 2500. I also have a 2002 camry auto with 240k on it had it for 18 years still runs fantastic. Changed starter oxygen sensors, plugs, everything else is original. I also have a 2002 camry v6 with 87k runs perfect like brand new never changed any thing but oil brakes and belts.

Hey Scotty, I remember watching your Chanel for the first time back in 2017 (at that time I owned a 2015 Nissan Altima) I didn’t know about their transmission problems. Sure enough my transmission started rattling at 75xxx miles on the car. I recently got a better job and decided to do something nice for myself. I sold my Altima and went down to the Toyota dealership and bought a 2020 corolla hatchback with a 6-speed. I wanted to say thank you for converting me and being honest. I appreciate all your har work you do for us regular people. Thanks Scotty, Gage

I bought a 2003 like that last summer except mine is blue, has 145,000 miles on it and I drive it 90 miles a day to work and back. I love it. I still have my 1990 Camry I bought in 1991. It still runs. Just be careful of the ones built from 2007-2009. I think the 2003-2005 maybe 2006 were really good cars.

I love the 7th Gen Accord. They're great fun to drive and the interior quality is great. I have an 8th Gen Accord [2008] and the plastics used in the Interior feel really cheap, like the Early 2000s Civics, and they're not as fun to drive as the 7th Gen. And weirdly the 7th Gen's seats are more comfortable.

I found that the best time to buy a car is when you don't need one. I drive my car but always keep my eye open for a good deal. (always used) When I find one I buy it and sell my driver. Have done this for many years and my average cost of cars is about $90 per month. It's fun and I've owned many different makes and models.

Hey, that tip about dealers presenting lot cars as owner sales while meeting at a public place instead of a home is a real eye-opener. In Nevada, it's illegal to sell at an empty lot. It must be done at a residence. I guess this is why. I would love to see you share your knowledge about scams in a separate video. That one alone is something I had never heard of, nor even conceived could happen.

My car's manual says for "taxi service," defined as mostly stop-and-go trips, change the oil every 3K miles or six months. I drive about 5-6K miles a year. So I've just been changing every three months. A conventional oil change costs about $45 including sales tax, so that's under $100 a year. Heck, my annual car insurance is over 500% more than that!
