I’m majoring in biology and minoring in astronomy along with an international relations concentration, because I plan to go into astrobiology through grad school and have that be my career. The average salary for astrobiology ranges from $83,489 to $207,161 with the top percentage of people making $456,883. Hopefully the job prospects get better in the future for it, but it seems like a good area of study for a career.

@@marinasafwat4912 I'm at the end of my bachelor degree so I can give you only my point of view on the matter. The good thing about biotechnology is that it's not limiting to a single thing: you can become a vast number of things that might vary from a microbiologist to material scientist. Personally, I chose the pharmaceutical path since I liked it more. The bad news now: unfortunately, you'll have to go to grad school. From my experience you can't "secure the bag" with only a bachaelor, unless you go to an ivy league college right away. Sorry for the long text, hope it helped

I did psychology and now I'm doing Biology. That combination would make more sense if you want to go into Neuroscience or biological Psychology which is research on how the body and mind interact. To be a psychiatrist you have to study medicine and forensic Psychologists do psychological testing and interviews with criminals to determine if they are mentally fit for a "guilty" sentence or should go to a mental hospital. Forensic psychologists are NOT the ones solving the crime they are the ones talking to criminals afterwards

What would be a good double major for a foreign language degree in your opinion?
@jamersbazuka80553 жыл бұрын
I'm sad he hasn't responded to this one. As I think about it, I would say language is a good 2nd major in the double major. By that I mean if you do science + language, you could translate works from one language to another. Business + language could be pretty solid too, being able to either translate for corporate executives, or being able to do business in another language without an interpreter. Alternatively, language + education could be good depending on the language and your geographical location, and language + linguistics might be good if you're already committed to getting a master's or doctorate's degree. But yeah, I'd say it's probably best to pick a degree and then add language, rather than the other way around.

There are a lot of 5 year 3-2 programs offering both degrees in a period of 5 years. Most of these programs start you at a local university, often private doing a 3 year comp sci degree with specific requirements. Then you apply to the 2 year university of your choice that is partnered with your local school and these are often well known schools and there you do a two year engineering major of your choice depending on which prerequisites you already have.

Imo you picked quite some bad examples for the combi science + business. There are jobs like pharmaceutical salesman, clinical trial manager and medical liaison manager, where you have to understand what is going on in the scientific context, but where business skills are much more important. Actually, every major company needs a lot of sales related people, who are competent in their technical area, so if you notice midway through uni, that working as a scientist isn't your career path, you can double major in business, have a great time (after a BS it really feels like holidays) and maybe even work already part time.
