FYI: Oliphaunt’s buff is an attack trigger, not an ETB trigger. It’s repeatable.

I’m surprised Generous Gift, Battle Mammoth, and Aggressive Mammoth weren’t on this list. Love all 3 of those cards, and despite the fact that I don’t know much about constructed tournament play, I think they could each really shine if they were prominent at the right time in standard or modern.

Generous gift was never legal outside of modern and eternal formats where its just not efficient enough.

Generous Gift is mediocre in competitive because White doesn't need its effect in the same way Green did (and should not have gotten). Aggressive Mammoth is actively dogshit in constructed because if you're paying 6 mana in Green there are infinitely better targets, like, say, Prime Time, or all the shit that goes in Amulet Titan for a backup plan. The other one is fine but not really that noteworthy, if it actually had hexproof it'd be a lot better.

The best thing Battle Mammoth had going for it was the synergy with Fight Rigging, back when New Capenna had just come out and there weren't as many 6-power creatures at low MV in Standard.

@@BobardeZanzibar It’s legal in modern, but yeah honestly none of those three could be super competitive based on the time they were released and the formats they were released in. If aggressive mammoth or battle mammoth had been released around future sight, for example, they could’ve been very good. Similar for Generous Gift or if it were in standard. I know they’re not competitive cards, but they’re ones I like.

Greenbelt Rampage can be used to take advantage of its power and/or toughness when it enters the battlefield, like with a particular Trostan or Impact Tremor - like cardsi

It really irks me that Battle Mammoth from Kaldheim can't break through. An above rate 6/5 trample with potential multiple card draws can't see play? Power creep is crazy

Elephants were my second EDH deck, I absolutely love them as an animal and they're fun to play in MTG as well. This was my second most important Nizzahon video request, my most important obviously being "Top 10 Vintage Cards (Minus Power 9)"!

I'm not very familiar with most formats but is Generous Gift only something that is played in EDH I take it?

Probably. Beast Within sees pretty decent play but white has better removal you can play at a 4 of.

yea, 3 mana for a kill spell that gives your opp a thing isn't too good in formats where both Abrupt Decay and Assassin's Trophy exist for generic permanent removal, and stuff like Fatal Push / Force Of Vigor when you can be more specific with what you're trying to get rid of. And if you REALLY want a 3 mana, kill a thing, and make a 3/3... you got Oko, thief of crowns... in at least Vintage, but it's at WORST a Generous Gift every turn, and it's never just that. Also, white has stuff like Path and Swords at 1 mana for creatures, you'd rarely need more than 8 copies of that effect, and for nonwhite decks, Beast within in green, or Pongify if you only care about creatures for 2 mana less. tl;dr. 3 mana removal is bad when you can run multiple copies of better removal and a 3 mana spell should be starting to close out the game in most constructed formats. It's decent when you're running singleton, and when a 6 mana spell could still be "developing the board"
