My 2004 6sp G coupe had 188,000 I only put mobil 1 and an oil treatment and let me tell you I’ve never had an issue my G runs 👏🏽 awesome! I CHANGE MY OIL EVER OTHER MONTH NO MATTER WHAT! I do t go by miles I go by my gut lol my g and I are close friends we know one another that’s how ever g owner should thing I change my oil and my spark plugs like a crazy person 😵‍💫 but my g runs like new the best car I’ve ever owned hands down

I use the Penzoil made from natural gas and Supertech for topping off in my VQ35DE Maxima. it 's 316,000 miles and running strong .

I run 30 because 40 is hard to come by in High Milage Full Synthetic, this is on my VQ35HR & my best friend has a 2004 G35 Coupe 6MT, VQ35DE & I have him running 40 usually, but 30 as well, full synthetic and its a happy DE, he changes oil every 3,500K miles. Engines are happy but 40 would be the better route. These are all detuned racing engines, once you start moding & tunning them they’re not restricted anymore & have awakened, lol, they’re not “detuned” anymore; even stock as hell its a racing engine, so treat it as such. • Blue 2007 Infiniti G35S Sedan 6MT / Nissan Skyline Sedan 350GT 6MT. Did you say you change your oil every week? I'm in Canada and synthetic oil is very expensive here. 5 litre of Castrol synthetic will run you about $70 bucks plus another $15 - $18 bucks for an oil filter. I don't run Castrol in my G35 Coupe, i buy my synthetic oil from Costco. They had a sale where you can get 2 pack of 5 litres of synthetic oil for $50 bucks. Usually it's $60 bucks for 2 pack. I also bought a Purolator oil filter for $16 bucks. I run 5w30 too in my G35 and I change my oil every 3,000 kms.

Na not every week lol. More like every 6-12 month depends on how much i drive it. Change oil more often is more important than oil quality i think.

in all my modern cars, late 90s to present, i use 0w-40 year round, and i live in minnesota, older cars i use 5-30 winter, 10-30 summer

Thicker oil will raise oil pressure, thats not going to help the weak oil gallery gaskets in the VQ. I'll be sticking with 5w30

So much misinformation for someone who has “done a lot of research”. 5w30 and 5w40, for example, give you the same protection during cold starts. That’s what the 5 weight means, it’s the cold grade.

I just hit 160k miles, I run 5w30 in winter and plan to run 5w40 in summer. Where I am at temperatures hit up to 90 in the summer, def would thin out the oil (edit extra. I’ve always ran castrol too but my recent oil change I switched to royal purple)

Dont run Royal Purple, they use to suck and people still believed the hyped about them when studied proved it was worse then regular oil. Maybe they changed? But why the hell would you run a company oil like that when you have Mobile, Penzoil, Castro who are great? Motul & LiquidMolly are wonderful & Royal Purple is a cheap expensive rip off of those & my all time favorite is Valvoline & its the oldest engine oil manufacturer.

My engine is VQ35HR with 5 speed AT. I see close to 3k RPM on highway since it has only 5 speed gear. I was using 5w40, but it was too heavy in city driving (i do city driving for most of the time..). I switched back to 5w30, but i sometimes it’s a bit light. Which viscosity and API grade do you recommend to my engine? And is there any disadvantages when you use 5w40 in summer and 5w30 in winter? I wonder if switching engine oil’s viscosity twice a year would be harmful to the engine..

you can just change the filter and you will lose about 300-500mil oil.

Idk what it 100,000 miles in kilometers is but usually once the engine hits that mileage the rings wear out and that's when the engine begins to burn oil

changing oil will not stop your engine burning oil maybe try looking into oil catch can to help :)

i think 0w-xx might not provide enough protection as it is way to thin for a VQ. Keep me updated with how it's going tho
