When I was in 7th grade my english teacher would come to class every Monday and teach us about Greek mythology and that made me fall in love with it. My lower arm sleeve has Poseidon, a rose, filigree and ab antikythera. I have this one spot on my inner elbow that needs to be done and this video definitely helped me! Thanks man!!

You can still use poseidon but you can design it in such way to tell a story from mythology. For example you can include poseidon and goddess Athena because they had a rivarly/fight with each other for who will be the ruler of [what is today] the city of Athens.

In my opinion before getting a Greek/roman sleeve, start by reading the history, read the Iliad, the republic, the Greek myths to get a proper understanding about how Hellenistic culture influenced the western world in a major way. It's seems a bit stupid to me to get tattoos of statues that you don't know the history or story about.

Greek and Roman civilization plays a huge influence on western civilization. We have an exact replica of the parthenon that no one has a clue about in Tennessee. Red flag lol but in all serious the greek god probably do exist

I’m in the planning stages of a Greek sleeve, and I think one area that is underutilized is the mythological animals that go along with a lot of the lore. My main piece is going to be a Griffin (considered to be the hound of Zeus). Then there’s Hydra, a centaur, a Minotaur. And if you went with a Minotaur you could include the labyrinth it was trapped in.

The only thing I would add is if you want a greek themed sleeve, do your research first and check if it's actually greek, because Rome did do some similar stuff. It's cool if you want to mix tho :)

I am a Greek or Hellene as is more appropriate so anything with our culture and mythology I love it. The aesthetics man is something that we see from young so its in our DNA. Seems natural not exotic just close, familiar if you know what i mean. Its soothing.

they did drink a lot of wine - but they thought it uncouth to have it neat, it would be water mixed with wine ( if your interested Polyphemus drank wine straight to show 1 he got pissed nobody wants that in the Greek world and 2 to show he was uncivilized again not something the greeks liked). There's never anything wrong with waiting. I felt that pressure too and only got tattoos I could hide early on just in case. Now I'm in my 30's and not only can I pay for better tattoos than before, I also already have a career I won't lose by getting them.

I think It’s popular to know about Greek gods in the States because the majority of public schools don’t teach you shit about other cultures outside of what’s idolized by White America. They’ll say Greek gods were powerful and ruthless and great, but African or Asian or Native/ indigenous gods are heathen/pagan. Negative connotation with association makes ppl not want to learn more about other cultures religions, gods, practices, traditions etc. So of course for power iconic tattoos, you want a warrior god you choose Greek or Norse, cus that’s what’s shown and taught about. Not much else. I think it’s lame.

You can blame Madison, Jefferson, adams and many more, the founding fathers of the USA were Ancient Greek idealists. Hell, they even proposed to make Greek, not English the official language of the country (true story, look it up!). So it’s kind of engrained in our DNA to idolize the Greeks. It’s not a bad thing if you ask me. The Greeks are a worthy ideal to aspire to.
