I had a chat with my Empower rep several months ago about that very savings chart. The rep informed me that a better way to view it is try and be AT the median goal at the beginning of your 20's, 30's, etc. Their hope, and surely ours, is that after a 10 year period we'll of course be paid more than at the beginning. With good planning when you're young, it'd blow the top end easily away. Also even if you are later to the savings game, such as myself sadly, with sound planning and compounded interest, all those numbers are easily beatable. It is possible, markets willing, I could hit the stated median at the end of my 40's. Even if I do not however, by the end of my 50's I'll be will above the median listed there. Informative video as always!

Consider exploring energy stocks, as they are poised to be significant beneficiaries of advancements in AI and data centers. Additionally, practicing Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA) into a reputable ETF could be beneficial. It's crucial to prioritize patience and maintain a long-term perspective. Most importantly, seek financial advice to make informed buying and selling decisions.

I used to work as an investment advisor. The advice presented in the video is excellent and holds true for the average American. While it's a fact that money can't directly buy genuine happiness, it does provide the means to access experiences that can lead to happiness. However, for individuals with a substantial portfolio, say around $5 million, if you observe closely, you'll find that most people in their 70s are still quite active (I live in LA), but by the time they reach 80, their activity levels tend to decline. So, it's essential to enjoy life at some point before it's too late. That enjoyable vacation might well be the experience that brings comfort in your later years. It's important to distinguish between spending money wisely and squandering it. Be prudent in your value-conscious spending.

Due to my demanding job, I lack the time to thoroughly assess my investments and analyze individual stocks. Consequently, for the past seven years, I have enlisted the services of a fiduciary who actively manages my portfolio to adapt to the current market conditions. This strategy has allowed me to navigate the financial landscape successfully, making informed decisions on when to buy and sell. Perhaps you should consider a similar approach.

It all depends on how long you're willing to hold for, stocks might likely tank further, but making serious gains in this downtrend wouldn't be a problem if you're a pro.Reason I decided to work closely with an brokerage-adviser ever since the market got really tensed and the pressure became so much(I should be retiring in 17months) so I've had an brokerage-adviser guide me through the chaos, its been 9months and counting and I've made approx. 650K net from all of my holdings.

I'm making 38k I've managed to save up 8k in the past 5 months. It has sucked only being able to spend very little on myself, but it's worth it every time I look at my bank account. From having nothing, living paycheck to paycheck, to being able to save as much as possible per pay period.

One thing to consider about saving vs credit cards at the 40k level. If you save money you're less likely to charge things and perpetuating the cycle of card use. I'm trying to do a bit of both as possible.

I just want everyone to know that money does not bring happiness. Out of college I only made 50k a year. Now I am 35 years old and make 375-400k a year. My lifestyle has not changed one bit, and I am not happier than I was when I was 21. I still save 60% of my income. Dont ever think living on a low salary is a bad thing.

Money doesn't buy happiness because in your case you always had it. You don't know different. You are 35 now. Gonna guess college was early 20s, so you made 50k a year about 12 to 14 years ago? Adjusted for inflation, back in 2010 what you made is equivalent to over 70k today. Dude. To most people you've always had money. Try supporting a family of 3 on less than 30k a year due to crappy medical luck. I've done it. Believe me dude, money wouldn't have solved all my problems but it sure as heck would have solved most of them and I would have been a lot happier. Took me years and a career change but I make a lot more money now. The extra money absolutely has made me happier

I have 0 college debt, 0 vehicle debt (this month paid off my car), I make 98k base pay with 30k additional from owning part of my company, my rent is $550/month and I still feel like I'm drowning. The one thing I spend money on and feel guilty for is eating out like I basically get a $9 chipotle bowl for lunch and often spend $9-30 a night to eat with my girlfriend. The only other things I really pay monthly are gym memberships: Weight Gym is $60 & Jiu Jitsu is $120. I still feel like I'm drowning. I'm 27 and feel like everyone around me is starting these big families, buying brand new big trucks/SUV's, buying houses, weddings, traveling etc. etc. & I'm just like how? How do you guys possibly afford all of that?

I’m a mechanic that has been investing in stocks for around 7 years. I kind of feel like suggesting anyone investing or trading stocks would be similar to someone suggesting that they just replace a bad engine on their own. It can be done, but it’s very hard and takes a lot of time and leg work to get the knowledge and confidence to have success. In first 3-4 years I lost so much money like most, we are in the green now and am doing quite well. I needed to read a lot of books, KZbin and podcasts to get to where I am and manage the risk property

Really thinking about it, I think having it together by 30 is great, but I really feel like age NEEDS to be taken out of the equation here. It kind of gets frustrating when watching this, because so many people who are close to the age of 30, like myself really struggle with having their entire salary saved up. Plus, Fidelity pushes that for your 401k. Some people have so many college loans that it is impossible to have this. The internet or at least resources that provide advice should approach this concept with steps rather than age. Realistically we are all in a different stage in our life and learned how to be more financially responsible at different times. I love these videos, but this is just something I just needed to share.

It is a bit stressful working on this salary as we always have to be moving money around to cover this or that and we are constantly making money decisions. However the business is growing and this 42K salary will soon be more and we will have more freedom. We still save 10% and travel a bit with that, but we have to have a huge control haha’ Sometimes I just dream of the day we will be making 60K and have some more freedom hahaha’

Best way to finance a car: Don't. There's absolutely zero reason you need to pay the bank or a dealership for a 20-30k dollar car. There's a car for every purpose in the 1500-3000 dollar range that you can pay for in cash. This is also a lesser talked about part of becoming wealthy and or financially stable. It is a nice thing to be able to work on and FIX your own vehicle or at the very least be knowledgeable about them so you know where as to spend your hard earned dollars on something reliable and going to last 10+ years instead of a brand new car that you're paying monthly for and has to go to a dealership when it breaks.

If your income isn't there try to level up as spoken. A part time gig in today's market could be very valuable. Nowadays most pt jobs are paying at least $10 an hour. Working 15 hours a week for a month is enough to put in your monthly for an IRA. The earlier you plan this out the less you have to contribute later in life, yielding the snowball effect.

Investing is good, but there is always a chance of a crash and if your near retirement be carefull. Life happens and sometimes it feels like a crap shoot investing. I took a chance on a stock I knew well about and it grew fast in 2 1/2 years and that was a worry in its own. I sold when I had enough to pay my home off and a month later the stock crashed because of faulty book work by this company. So your always taking a gamble. I was very lucky. The point is you may know or think you know a company ,but there are things that are out of your control.
