I honestly hated the Alpha's stock pads compared to the Cloud II, the drivers are also closer to the ears. I switched them out for HM5 Brainwavz memory foam pads and they're perfect.

I don't consider the alphas "lack of features". Sure, they don't have a software, but they have a detachable cable and a detachable mic that will make it a lot easier for you to repair them in the future. I used razer kraken USB and never found myself needing to use the software, so i got the alphas.

I have the clouds and they're great, but I'd prefer the volume and mute controls on the cans themselves instead of inline, they kinda snag things a bit. And they do get kinda warm. But the pros outweigh the cons by a metric tonne

Under 100$ winner is Sennheiser HD 598SR ( or GSP 300, but i think they're alot worse ) and Samson SR850 ( aka Superlux 668B ). Why even include Features as a thing in headset? - Is there audio? Yes. - Is there mic? Yes ^ thats all features you need, but if you're 9 year old i think your priority is total opposite and something similar to that: RGB #1 priority, Wireless #2 priority, Has programmable macro buttons #3 Priority #4 Louder than jet engine ( ignoring the close to zero clarity ) #5 priority

The alpha is great and honestly the safest option but I already have the hyperx revolver so I dont really want to get another hyperx even tbougb they are great, last time I tried a steelseries and razer of the same line, they were complete dogshit in mic and sound quality and razer one was very clunky aswell. The creative seemed like the best option but I started reading the reviews of buyers and most of them had the same problem, the usb conector and the external sound card conection were poorly built and they started failing a lot after a short period of time. Wanted to buy a sennheiser but I play in a noise environment and the ones in my price range are openback the other ones go for around 200. Any recomendations?

I used to have the Arctis 5 and it hunted my ears so bad! I don’t have weird ears or anything but the fabric rubbed against my ears and hurt a lot.

Then you were wearing them wrong if they hurt your ears as the cups are bigger than the average person's ears, yet you claim you don't have weird ears? So either you do have weird ears or you literally have no idea how to wear the headset correctly. When you have them on correctly, the fabric doesn't touch your ears at all, they are so comfortable that you sometimes forget you have them on, just as the review states in this video. That's how I know your comment is rubbish and it's your own fault they were uncomfortable

HyperX Cloud Alpha are INCREDIBLY comfortable and the dual chamber design is amazing! The leather ear cushions are very soft and not to thick and they do feel like CLOUDS.

ToXic_ Venom its more of a personal preference between virtual surround sound and dual chamber design. HyperX Cloud 2 have the crappy virtual surround sound that DOES work, But it sounds terrible with sound there You have High or mid with the lower end sound. The HyperX Cloud Alpha fix that by having 2 chamber. I think that they are better tuned and they have a lower and higher frequency’s but they miss that low end punching sound that could be fixed by tuning it. I personally prefer HyperX Cloud Alpha because of that dual chamber design.

You need to spend triple this amount to get true audiophile quality and even then you need headphones and not a headset to get the absolute best quality sound

a better idea is don’t buy the steel series arctics 5 get the 3. The 3 is almost the exact same as the 5 but without the lighting and the usb thingy. if you don’t care about those things then you can save 20 dollars. Also i would recommend for pc players to get a separate microphone instead of using ones in the headset. Overall you should use the Hyper X Cloud 2s or the Steel series arctics 3

No the 3 are not the same as the 5 minus the RGB, what an uninformed ignorant comment. Do some research, I didn't pick the 5 over the 3 just for RGB, every review I've ever read says the same thing, that the sound quality on the 3 is inferior to the 5, they use different sound drivers. The Arctis 5 is actually the same as the Arctis 7 minus the wireless

SteelSeries are ok I have had the Arctis 5 and recently the Arctis Pro with GameDAC and still don’t believe they are on HyperX level of gaming headsets. but you hook up the alphas to the MixAmp pro tr and it blows SteelSeries away there is no comparison!

The Razer Kraken V2 may not have any controls besides the software but the software is just incredible giving you the option to adjust the 7.1 surround sound but they are a bit bulky but that DOES NOT matter

Imagine if there was a “GREAT” 7.1 surround for me now if I would give it to you, you would probably not like it because you are different, it would not fit you. It’s hard to make a good selling gaming headset because many companies doesn’t give to many options. Companies like Samsung sells the most smartphones per year because they have a LOT of options. What I’m meaning is that, what fits others may or may not fit you, find your perfect headset, find the best not the worst if you don’t like razer don’t go like “It’s a terrible brand!” Just ignore it and find better companies and brands!

There are different types of surround sound. There is the normal where you have multiples channels in your headset and there is the virtual one. All headset are tuned differently and will NOT fit everyone. And surround sound make the audio quality worst but I gives you a larger sound stage. There is also features like HRTF which is software based and what special with it is that you can hear things that are above and below. In games like CS:GO you can adjust that soundstage.

Buschola - *facepalm* you don’t get it, the only good way you would get good 7.1 is with an amp (basically every tech youtuber knows this),all the headsets the try to emulate 7.1 are just trash and you are paying several extra dollars for it. NOW if there was a good headset that emulated 7.1 I would use it. It’s not that I don’t like 7.1, it just that headsets that try to do it the 7.1 just sucks ass. I’m sure in a year or so we will have a good 7.1 surround sound headset, but we just don’t have it now.

Better yet, don't buy a gaming headphone. Get a superlux headphone, maybe a HD681 Evo or HD681b and an antlion mod mic. Better sound for less. You can go cheaper by skipping the mod mic and just getting an unbranded headworn mic and double sided tape. If you want to go into really making your headphone truly yours, get APO Equalizer with the Peace UI to adjust the sound of your headphone to your heart's content. As for the mic, just run it through voicemeeter.
