In Japan they have engine size tax, so that's why they were 1988cc and why Japanese cars had 2.0s and why Toyota worked on a performance engine this size.

I absolutely love how this car turned out. It sounds freakin' fantastic and looks to be a super fun and spicy ride. As a fellow 80s baby, I am a big fan of this design language and am glad you made the choices you did to preserve its unique character while also modernizing some bits like the suspension. You just don't see things like this out on the road anymore. It's a very special car, and I'm sure it will be really hard to let it go. Judging by the comments here, I think your audience is full of people who do truly appreciate your fierce commitment to your projects. I think this car will be well loved and cared for wherever it ends up. Excellent work, Sarah!! Also, those funky little service lights are both hilarious and delightfully functional. Love it!!

Hey Sarah! Just an FYI. The lines inside the front windshield are actually the factory radio antenna, not defrosters. Also, technically, it has a factory woofer in the dash, not a subwoofer. All great content though! I really enjoy your channel! Keep up the great work! Thanks!

Amazing build on that car! I can't believe how well it turned out, and all the details are super chef's kisses! When I was a kid, my dad worked for a dealership and got to drive new cars to the local pro ice hocky games and drive them onto the ice during halftime for promotionals. I remember we got to drive one of these and at night it was like being in a spaceship with that super-advanced dashboard!

Digital dash was an option on the P type. My friend had one back in the day. This was one of the coolest cars available back in 1982. mI remember the P type seats being alot more sporty than these. Oh, gotta edit! My friend blew the engine racing a *Chevette* with a Buick 90* NA V6 jammed in it on a windy road.

fellow toyota nerd fact: most factory "bucket" seats for toyotas those years had a knob for bottom cushion angle on the bottom's side, a knob for bolstering adjustment on the s ide of the back rest with a clicking lever beneath it for lumbar support (basically just an ajustable bar behind the cusihion). My 1989 corolla GTS had it and i went and bought a second hand driver side from the scrap yard years later to have a VERY low budget (23$ total) racing"ish" seat to actually stay seated after having modified my 2005 2 door hatchback toyota echo. That is all. XD

I owned a 84 P type, car drove like a dream. Everyone I drove around was amazed how the ride was compared to other modern cars in 2017. I’ve had many people try to buy the car while I was driving it, the motor is popular for making it into a turbo stroker. This car has a lot of tuning potential. I wish I can own another one.

Back in college, my daily driver was an '83 Supra P-Type in all black. I loved it. But at about 150k miles, it started burning lots of oil and had rust issues. Traded it in on a used '87 Porsche 944S with 37k miles, which was my daily driver that I drove to 200k miles before selling. No rust or oil-burning issues with the Porsche, but I did sometimes miss the torque of the Supra's 6-cylinder. And I agree, this is definitely the best generation of Supra!

I remember seeing these on the road when I was a kid riding my bike around town wishing I was old enough to drive one . In my opinion the crazy thing is how it's still looks relevant compared to car design today. A lot of people wouldn't even think "old car" . Very impressed with the resto-mod on this. Doing the right stuff without changing the character of the car was a hard call.
