The giant form seems possible since the awakened Zoans at Impel Down also became bigger as a result of their awakening and got super regeneration. This type of awakening would be a good fit for Luffys fighting style. Another possibility is, that he doesn't just become big but can manipulate his shape, which would go hand in hand with the Monkey King theme.

OR the GomuGomu Nomi makes the users body so durable, that it could prevent the body from being destroyed when consuming multiple devil fruits. His body is so durable, like a tire, which is why he has been stabbed so many times throughout the series the the hole closed up so quickly. I believe that Luffys heart may even be able to pump for centuries due to the fruits affects. Thoughts????

Love the story telling & endless possibilities like the Devil Fruit of Luffy - Rubber, it can mould into any properties & author just has to pick what is relevant for Luffy to grow strong or defeat enemies plus rubber can float on water making the possibility of the only Devil fruit user who can counter water as well. Luffy may learn this technique in future as he grows. For CP9 to guard it & shanks to steal it, there is more to this fruit than what is revealed , it appears average fruit but i doubt it is. Hope ODA surprises us in future.

I'd never actually considered that we have no insight into Vegapunk's motives. I just thought of him as the Mad Genius who is happy to use the WGs resources to do his Mad Genius things in exchange for delivering a couple of things they ask for without question. Just in it for the science. But now that you mention it, my gears are turning. This guy presumably knows the True History. He knows more than anybody else about the Devil Fruits, how they work, what they do, how they have been used before, etc. He knows secrets of the human body that nobody else knows. Even if he's happy to do what the WG wants him to do in exchange for all those resources, who's to say that he doesn't fundamentally disagree with their worldview. 10/10 thought. Thanks.

I've always thought since Oars on Thriller bark that the Gum gum fruit was gonna be in someway connected in some form to Giantification or Giants, and Luffy soul being in Oars body was to try and get us to consider how strong a giant with the gum gum fruit would be. also as you were saying implementation of the gum gums properties into soldiers to allow there body to expand correctly with experimentation in a sense making their body more adaptable to not just Giantification experiments but for further experiments. And 1) that Giant strawhat may indeed be Joyboys and he may have awakened his fruit in turn being able to turn himself into a giant or 2) him just being a giant with the gum gum fruit and the world government wanting to be able to replicate that cos if you think about it a giant with the gum gum fruit would be insanely over powered.

And it makes total sense that this nuisance is Who's Who. I was reading a theory, about the skull on onigashima, that skull had to belong to a huge orz. And the theory related to what moria said on thriller bark about a giant oars pulling islands together which would explain the shape of wano and the different climates and the fact that all the islands are connected via Bridges. Oda has never let us down in the past, I’m all for how he wants to take the story. Luffy is the main character at the end of the day, so why does it matter if his fruit is the fruit of fate? Also, id love it if his awakening allows him to shape shift, kind of like Sun Wukong’s ability to control his form.

I was never a fan of the rubber world awakening, but couldn't really think about an alternative, so I love this theory. Giant Luffy sounds awesome. I also hate fate/destiny trope in shonen anime, so this would be an awesome explanation for the fruit.

I read a theory somewhere that says Rocks had the GGNM fruit. It’s a long one Remember how Kaido makes fun of Luffy by saying “What was that brat? Gomu Gomu no...?” and laughs? It could mean that he saw another person use the same fruit but that person utilised it in combat in different ways from what Luffy did. And that person can only be Rocks Also, Whitebeard’s Df is an earthquake fruit And in Japan, rubber is used to deflect earthquakes, which explains how Rocks defeated Whitebeard in a Davyback Fight to get him to join his crew (Yes, Davyback fight was first originated at the “Pirate Paradise” according to what Robin said and that’s Fullalead Island, where Rocks Pirates formed) Also, Shanks is 38 years old and the God Valley Incident took place 38 years ago This could mean that Shanks was Rocks’ son. Garp didn’t want the WG to kill a baby just because the baby’s blood was “tainted” due to him being Rocks’ son So he asked Roger to take him in And several years later, Roger asked Garp to take Ace in since Garp owed Roger a favour This gives a solid reason for why Shanks took the fruit from the WG Because it belonged to his father (Rocks) Think about it Give it a few minutes to sink into your mind

It actually sounds pretty good, only problem for me would be that besides kaido there were several other people who crossed paths with both of them and never were suprised or said something about it like big mom, the marine itself, rayleigh and probably a lot other from the older generation. But If oda can write himself out of that, i would buy it.

Hopefully you read this but I like to think what makes the rubber fruit “special” is that it doesn’t have a core lane of its awakening. Luffy can technically become a giant, but I look at how versatile the fruit itself is and how luffy has trained so far in every form of haki, and it’s interesting. His gear four forms are almost like zoan hybrid forms, and if we add the ability to affect his surroundings or become a giant, that could be considering multiple forms of awakening. It could also be the key to why Vega punk needs it. It’s a key to understand how awakening itself works. With ryuo now learned I would love to see luffy pick up aces or sabos staff and make it an extension pole. It could be far fetched but it could be why oda has held off for so long about luffys fruit. Considering luffys fruit is a paramecia as well it doesn’t really confine him to a specific awakening. And on the opposite end we have Blackbeard who has multiple devil fruits(how idk) but if it’s because of his Yami yami no mi then it would make sense that the fruits are polar opposite. Luffy being able to access all forms of awakening through training. And Blackbeard being able to obtain them from stealing them. (Gives me my hero academia vibes)

Dont forget, the marines had sanjuan wolf captured, which has apparently an unnamed devilfruit which increase his size. If they wanna create gigantification, he would be their best chance. But i actually hope it's something like this instead belonging to some former enemy of the WG like joyboy etc., the chances of creating plotholes this far into the story will be hard to avoid.

doflamingos awekening lets him "turn" things into strings and control them, i think luffys awekening will let him not "turn" but "give" things the properties of rubber and control them. if luffy can make the sea have rubber properties then he can control it make it so he cant sunk in it, create water rubber fists that weaken devil fruit users on contact alone and even undo the rubber infusion to sink people and cities.
