Xineering Downshift Blip Module: www.xineering.com/dbw.html
Follow me on Instagram @thejeffashton
In today's video we install hands down one of the best modifications for a GT350. I picked up an Xineering Downshift Blip Module, which I fully install and demonstrate in this video. If you track your GT350 or have an S550 Mustang that is not equipped with active rev matching then you need this mod. My first session out with it on Sebring, I fell in love and felt the need to spread the word about such a great product.

Thanks Jeff for the detailed explanation, it would have been nice if Ford had included it as a built in on/off option on the 350's as they did on the 2019 GT's moving forward. It would give all of us the best of both worlds, a manual transmission that we can enjoy during normal and some spirited driving, but the assistance of auto blip when on the track at high speeds. I appreciate your disclaimer at the end that this is not something that is needed during street driving. In fact I have had many 2019 GT owners say they turned this off after a while.. it was cool at first, but annoying when auto rev matching pulling into the shopping mall (LOL). I just purchased a 2019 GT350 and have never been on the track. I am going this spring to see how I like it and if it is something I want to pursue further. If I would want to continue and really push the car this would be a must for me as well. thanks again for your detail and great content

Hey Jeff. How do you know what mods won’t void the warranty on a GT350?
@JeffAshton
@JeffAshton 4 жыл бұрын
No mods really void your warranty in general, the rule of thumb to follow is anything that brakes due to the modification you added will not be covered under warranty.

@@JeffAshton Thx. I have ordered a 2020 Heritage Edition and I'm looking at doing a few minor mods - oil catch cans, Seeda clutch spring and now this mod - as they will improve performance, longevity and driveability without hopefully affecting the warranty. All are easy to remove and return to stock and I believe without leaving a footprint behind that they were installed. Why did you remove this mod before taking the car back to Ford - just to be safe re: your warranty?

I use the Auto-Blip and have had it installed on my 18' Gt350 for well over a year now. I absolutely love it. Haven't had one issue and everyone I've talked to loves it. Very easy to use. I'm sure the one you got Jeff is really good too so I'm not gonna bash their product by any means. However, speaking from experience and in my opinion, Auto-Blip is the way to go.

316 RACING what I’ve heard directly from multiple owners is the unit will not always work. Guys have been on track and it will literally just stop working. Hey all if anyone in the comment section has more knowledge or experience than myself, I'd love to hear your thoughts on modding out a 5.0 coyote, or nodding a new gt350r. I've heard the 5.0 has a better platform to take mods? But I haven't found evidence to support this. I'm a huge shelby fan, I'd love to have one over a Gt mustang. I realize the 350 isn't a drag car but mainly a track one. I do not want the 500. So after break in period and everything is done on the gt350r I'd most likely add a supercharger among various other mods. If I got the gt same with that. Just wondering which is the better platform? I'd think the 350 would have upgraded parts, and better block. I know you could get a gt for half the price of a shelby and save money but I've been saving for a shelby for a long ass time. Just looking for some thoughts and facts

RV H I actually have wider pedals already (SRP), but when braking from 145mph going into turn 17 at a course like Sebring, having a blip module is still much more confidence inspiring. Last time out I ran three sessions heel-toe downshifting and three sessions with the Xineering blip module.

In theory the idea of it is good for those not familiar with rev matching. However the purpose of “heel toe” or rev match, is to precisely match engine speed to wheel speed to avoid breaking the car loose... listening to it operate, especially in 1st gear it’s a complete overrev from what I’m hearing and seeing.... which means the inexperienced driver that comes off the clutch too fast in that overrev ends up breaking loose , defeating the purpose of rev assist. the real crime here is the Camaro comes with computer controlled auto rev match for guaranteed precision, no lift shift ... and while I’m at it ediff and pdr ... I don’t get why gt350 owners pay 20k more without the features to be less of a track car... ive had mustangs, Shelby’s ... i just think it’s a crime these cars don’t come competitively equipped and arnt really comparable ... especially with grenading voodoos all over... oof here we go with the hurt feelings ... just fact 😭... nice vid Ashton , your happiness is all that matters, it’s not accurate down shifting that compares engine speed to wheel speed , it’s a blip machine... sell it while you can and get the true track star... not naming names
@JeffAshton
@JeffAshton 4 жыл бұрын
You would never really need to rev match down to first gear, in the video that was just an example of what it will do if you’re driving it through the pits, clutch in and hit the brakes, that’s what the switch is for so it’s only turned on when needed. You can completely fine tune the blip module to exactly how you want to set it up, the rest of it comes down to the driver understanding how it’s set up via the blip percentage, duration, etc... The 18+ GT does come with active rev match, but I’m not sure why the 18+ GT350 does not.

All I guess you could do as people have done since car racing started which would be to learn how to heel and toe correctly and practice it and feel the car much closer to you.

Lot of dummies here flapping their lip about “learning to heel toe.” Unless you run in advanced run group or race on a Road Course not some BS “canyon” drive, don’t comment about crap you know jack about. I’ve been racing and driving motorcycles and cars on a road race course since late 90’s. So I know what I’m talking about. We track rats want to get better lap times through threshold braking at near anti skid cycling. Unless you are a highly developed amateur or pro driver with loads of track time, heel toe while hard aggressive braking and downshifting smoothly can be inconsistent and takes brain power away from cornering the car. Also a street car doesn’t have a race car’s big boosted brake so it requires high pedal pressure to get hard braking which makes heel toe more difficult. And F up a downshift or have a pulsing brake application and go off track at best or destroy your gearbox or car at worst. It’s about smooth weight transfer and stability on the contact patch while entering a corner on track. Also it protects the gearbox and synchros. Ok I feel better. It’s just a shame Ford was cheap and didn’t already have this feature like GM and Porsche does.
