What is the best area in Koh Phangan to stay ?
@JooseTheNomad10 ай бұрын
@@cryptocrusader6078 depends what you like. Hin Kong area is good close to everything. Haad Yao & Haad Salad are good still closer to everything but with nice beach for swimming. Excellent video, Joose. I visited Koh Phangan in the late '80s and stayed on Haad Rin Beach. It was fantastic. The best time. The road to Haad Rin was only halfway built and we had to take a long boat from the end of the road to access the beach. The long boat driver had to hop out several times and push us around sandbars. Of all the islands in the Andaman sea and Gulf of Thailand, Koh Phangan was the best one. Nice to see it again through the eyes of your video.

Invasion of digital nomads and vloggers who marketed this island so that it became very popular also seems to have contributed to higher prices. The island has always been famous, but has never been close to this hysteria which unfortunately has the consequences of exploitation and higher prices and worse traffic. Sad that the island has become so mainstream, it will increase the rate of destruction of the island just what other places in Thailand have already suffered from overexploration. I hope they regulate how many cars are allowed on the island, so they don't destroy this paradise by creating massive traffic jams just like the drivers do in Koh Samui. Anyway the video was great, good stuff. I love to watch the sunset from Hin Kong and walking on the sandbar.

I was there in June 2019 and the weather was nice, but the beaches on the south side had very shallow water due to low tide so it wasn't good for swimming. Perhaps the northern part of the island is better for swimming at that time? I only swam from Koh Raham at the time because it goes out into the water, and they have a stone staircase down into the water that you can swim right from the bar.

@@JooseTheNomad Not sure if you've been everywhere on phangan. I've spent the last 3 winters there and the amount of construction sites and deforestation happening is pretty insane...Tons of projects to built fancy places. potentially comparable what happend in canggu. I saw canggu 2016 and it was the best place on earth. I hate it now. :D so will see how it develops but so far many people living on the island are not happy with the development. there is so much greed and it's a lot of huge foreign investor funds building on the island. Also local houses are being rented out for 35-45k baht, so thats also 1000 EUR/Dollars for a month. It's hard to find something reasonable these days under 800-1000. Also the jelly fish situation is real. normally rather in the summer months though. And I personally find it not as chill anymore, especially on the roads. it's getting more and more dangerous with many more cars now as well. plus people are just riding their scooters like maniacs :D.
